In the first promo video for the VCI-380, the color pads corresponded to cue point color. Serato has since said it would be confusing. I was like.... Noooooo, figuring out what Cue on the screen (different colors) and what Cue on the controller (same color) are the same is more confusing.
Another words, if the first cue point on the screen is RED, the first Cue Pad LED should be RED.
I wonder if you open Scratch Live with 'Sort Cues Chronologically' ON, if it will put the Serato DJ library Cues in order as well? If it does, will it work with Cues 6-8 because SSL only supports 5 Cue points?

The 380 does NOT have enough colours todo this. The pioneer is true RGB 380 is just not.
Unless vestax can fix this with firmware? But if its limited hardware its a no go.

Its not limited on the hardware, the 380's pads are RGB, try the midi out on other software.

You sure? i was told by Vestax and Serato that they are not rgb and can fade all colours. there are just set colours?
If this is not the case and Vestax and Serato are wrong (which i can't see) Then yes we would defo love this feature!

RGB just means it can turn on and fade 3 color LEDs to make any color.
I'm waiting for a controller with RGBWA+UV. Yup: Red, Green, Blue, White, Amber and UV color. Because sometimes, you need that pastel color for a drop beat Hot Cue. Just kidding, but UV LED's would be pretty cool.
I believe a MIDI firmware upgrade is needed for the VCI-380 to mix LEDs in MIDI. However, their are 8 (16 if you count the lighter) different colors the 380 can do.
Taken from here www.poweronplay.com
VCI-380 MIDI Color Range PADS (Channel 8 left, 9 right)
Min Max Color
16-23 Light Blue
24-31 Blue
32-39 Light Green
40-47 Green
48-55 Light Turquoise
56-63 Turquoise
64-71 Light Red
72-79 Red
80-87 Light Purple
88-95 Purple
96-103 Light Yellow
104-111 Yellow
112-119 Light White
120-127 White
Serato DJ Cue Colors used:
Cue1 = Red
Cue2 = Orange (Not in VCI-380 MIDI)
Cue3 = Blue
Cue4 = Yellow
Cue5 = Green
Cue6 = Purple
Cue7 = Turquoise
Cue8 = Violet (Not in VCI-380 MIDI)
According to Pioneers new DDJ-SZ new controller video, it looks like Serato will let you choose a palette of 18 colors. youtu.be
When I requested the PAD Cue color for the VCI-380, a Serato representative said it would confuse the user. But now the DDJ-SZ get it?

...despite the obvious missing colours (no big deal)
So what the led is just off when the colour is missing? that would not cut with Serato or users. You really need togo to Vestax with this one to see if they can firmware fix to give the missing colours and then if they can for them to pay/push serato to add it as a feature.

I meant the colours that the VCI 380 cannot reproduce as above, Violet & Orange (see J.J's post)
Not sure anyone has successfully mapped any colours at all?

+ 1, come on serato, dthe SZ has it. the mode button tells the user that the vci is in hot cue mode, so there is no confusion

I happened to have a 380 passing by my hands these days
Anybody interested i did map it with RGB pads to SDJ, but seems to be working funny sometimes....do not have the option to attach here anymore, but pm me and i will send it to you...
Again i am not sure why sometimes its not working ok...feel free to experiment maybe by changing the note types and share if you manage to overcome the intermittent quirks it may give you...
Cheers

Please share if anyone comes up with the quirky Hot cue issue you will probably encounter...I did not try the rest the "c" options on the mapping, besides the first option given by the SDJ midi interface...

hi, i tested your xml but nothing happend. im not a specialist so i have to learn what is in your xml and than i try to find the right commands. i will try send midi commands with midi-ox to find the right ones. something like this:
<Output name="Cue Point 1 A">
<On channel="8" event_type="Note On" control="60" value="72" />
<Off channel="8" event_type="Note On" control="60" value="0" />
found in this thread: serato.com
it would be so nice to see the different colours :-)
thank you and cheers from ger
