Am I the only 57 owner that . . .

FU_PAY_ME 2:03 PM - 5 August, 2008
I've had my 57 for a few months now and I still dj like I have a serato box plugged in to my mixer. I never used the turning knobs on the mixer to skim through songs and crates. I hardly ever use the effects. Never used the kill buttons, etc. Am I crazy? Despite me not taking advantage of all the features, this is the best mixer I've ever owned.

I was like you for about a week after getting my 57, but then I just took a Saturday afternoon and really started playing with it and by the end of the day I had set up exactly how I wanted Groups 1 and 2 and I haven't adjusted them much since. Nowadays I only need to touch the laptop during a set to search for a track.

I've been forced to play on other mixers since getting the 57 and I always find myself feeling along the mixer face for the buttons and knobs to scroll through tracks or hit cue points... Then I look down and realize that I am on a different mixer!

Its funny - I started out on the TTM57, and used the knobs to navigate, but barely touched the FX. Then I had some issues with teh knobs, and after getting them fixed just kind of stuck with navigating via the trackpad, but I now use loads of FX. I think part of that is that once in a blue moon I have to play off a Serato box, and so it seems prudent to be used to navigating "normally" as opposed to with the P1 and P2 knobs, as its a right pain when you are used to using them and can't.

I've had my 57 for a few weeks now. I think the scrolling feature is cool, but I seldom use it.

I haven't had much time to mess with the effects. I'm sure I'll learn that soon.

As far as the buttons, I seldom use them as well. I'm afraid that I'll be too dependent on the features that the 57 has. I noticed though that when I trigger cue points with the buttons, they come out much smoother than hitting the keys on my laptop.

I sort of jumped right in to using my 57 and now I am very addicted to using the P1 and P2 knobs to scroll crates and tracks. I really miss it when playing on another mixer. I keep learning new things every week that this mixer can do. I've just learned how to set loops from the mixer w/out hitting the keyboard and this will open up some new creative options. I feel like I can DJ faster by scrolling rather than moving over to the laptop. I've only played around with the effects at home, but I'm not really diggin them yet. I keep comparing them to the Pio 800's efx.

True. It's a lot quicker... Maybe my iskin cover is slowing the keyboard down.

The reason I don't use my knobs to scroll through my crates is because I always type in the song I'm about to play next. Plus I hardly ever organize any new music

Yeah i bought this 1300 TV and i only use it to watch channel 2. I know it can do other stuff but ahh who needs it.

I don't mess with the built in fx. I gave it a try and after a few days I threw in the towl and picked up a pio fx box. I love the cue buttons and scroll features but for the same reasons stated above, I try not to over-use them.

Excellent, young grasshopper. I see you have mastered the no-touch-the-laptop technique!

This mixer s wicked! I've had it over a year and guess what??
I've used the FX maybe 10 times. My problem is, I am such a turntable guy at heart, I use Serato just as if it was 2 1200's! Always have and most likely always will. So if you do or don't use this mixer to it's fullest don't mean jack! Some guys trick up the tunes with doubles like me and other like the FX! As long as the crowd gets off, use it as you will!

is it me or does the echo not sound good? When you turn it on its always louder than the actual song unless you tweek it a ton. The only effect i use usually in a live set is the echo to transition to another song. I'm still using my korp or pioneer effects processor even though i wish i could use a clean echo effect from the mixer. Anyone have any solutions?
