Yo, some of these riddims be straight garbage but just because Vybz or Mavado on it they be getting heavy burn. I like the simple riddims and some of the R&Bish sounding ones. These techno, fast, crazy riddims with synths and all I'm really not feeling too much.

So whats hot right now for soca??

Soca right now is gonna be at a stand still other than the regional songs from the smaller islands (St Vincent, Grenada, Barbados etc...for their respective carnivals) the most buzz might come from crop over (Barbados). There are still 1 or 2 hits coming out, but not an influx of songs like prior to Trini Carnival.

Biggest soca song right now is Leave Me Alone by Kerwin & Machel.

@DJ Mac Just kuz it aint from Trini dont mean it aint a hit. Every island has hits. Trini songs just go futher because Trini is the main stage for Soca.

I'm sorry if my comment rubbed the wrong way (nh, nm) I didn't intend it to do so. I did mention that the smaller islands have hits, but it won't be on the international scene.....only the true soca heads gonna be interesed in hearing those such songs at a party or that specific's island demographic.

It's almost Vincy carnival so that's the next region to drop hits (Skinny Fabulous, Problem Child, Zoleah etc.)

Question for y'all? How are you dudes keeping up????? I mean, when riddims and singles were on 45's, LPs and CDs it was tough enough keeping up. With everything being downloaded now you have riddims coming out every week. How are you dudes getting the time to listen to all these riddims and all of the songs on these riddims to determine what is gonna bust? I bought mad riddims on 45 on LPs because they sounded good but never get to bust regardless of the artist on the riddim. Are you dudes just checking what's hot in JA and copying what they're doing? I have some Vybz and Mavado on some obsure riddims that never bust and if I rinse them in the club they flop?

I can't front, I just go to the clubs and find out what everyone else is playing. As a DJ I know that's wrong but I don't have the time to listen to every single riddim and artist on these riddims. How are you dudes doing this????

It's on the Nanny Goat Riddim from the 90's. It was on 7" and we put it on a mix tape back then but I can't find the original track now.

Remy I don't think it's the fact ya have named older riddims , as I'm a dancehall dj and certainly don't delete the older riddims and singles

The old sets are still bussing the dances , new tunes are mixed through out the night to get crowds used to the songs to make them easier to drop in the future

but I think it was mentioned as the thread is called 2013 , so people have been updating this years riddims and singles

I just can't keep up. 100+ riddims per year plus worrying about other genres? That's a full time job. lol

Once you got all the main hits over the last 25+ years mastered its not to bad , ive got 15 main folders with about four-five sub folders in each ,

now i just have to keep up with the hits from year to year , but every now and then i have a clear out of whats never played , only stored on a spare hard drive , and juggle the folders around accordingly , whats worked in certain venues or areas ,

But as its my main genre i find it fairly easy , Rnb and Hiphop would be a different ball game for me ,

We should be using this thread the same way the Hottest Rap/R&B Club Tracks thread is being used so those of you who aren't deep in the culture can get the gist of what's hot now & what's still working.

It's fast and furious with dancehall so keeping up is a task. To think, I used to complain about the frequency of releases back in the 90s.........
