Does anyone know if there's a way to use ME's MIDI out to light up buttons on a controller without another program like MIDIpipe or TouchOSC?

Absolutely. MixEmergency fully supports midi out for the majority of it's controls.

Can't figure out how to get the buttons to light up on my NS6 when the MIDI control is on.

Which buttons?
Are you using the NS6 as a supplementary controller with Scratch Live?
You need to be a bit clearer on what you're trying to do.

Yep. I'm using NS6 with SSL 2.4.2 and ME 2.2 I also have the NS6 mapped to some SSL controls but none overlapping and currently no MIDI conflicts. I've tried with Akai APC40 as well but no luck. Neither device has mapping software available as far as I know. I must be missing something simple. I'm currently trying to map the bottom row of the loop control section bit.ly to do simple on/off control of the other control panels located on the main preference window (command-1) bit.ly. If I can get this working I would like to use the other side to map some effect presets on the preset window. bit.ly Thanks for helping me out with this one.

phatbob. I just watched your video on ME and the Lemur for iPad. I'm thinking I may go that route. I actually have an iPad Mini that I got for my girl for Christmas. (She's gonna be pissed.. Haha)
I'm gonna try out a program called MIDI Designer. There's a free version that does only 12 controls but if it works out I'm gonna move up to the pro version or Lemur. It's too bad none of these let you paste an image of your logo from your ME overlays panel tho. That would be tight! Thank for your help.

I'm not in front of my computer right now but I think those buttons you posted the photo of don't have midi out.
Not all of the controls do... If they do have midi out it's normally obvious because the midi pop-up has the out option clearly there.
I can thoroughly recommend you give the iPad a try. It's great.
If you want to try it out and don't want to spend too much straight away, then I'd suggest TouchOSC instead. It's very cheap, and offers almost as much functionality as Lemur.
