Hi dj-freestyle,
I've talked to a few people here and tried myself on multiple versions of Scratch Live & ITCH and it seems this has never worked. I couldn't tell you of the technical reasons behind this I'm afraid!

It works on itch and scratch live. I trust did it on both but not serato dj?

Strange. I've tried on multiple versions with no luck. Which version and what type of hard drive did you try with?

That is very strange indeed. Any difference at all in setup? Hard drives/happening with specific folders?
Perhaps test and see if it does happen on particular folders etc, and check the permissions on that drive/those folders.

To be honest, I don't think files deleted from an external drive, will end up in the trashcan. If This would be the case, what is happening, is that when you delete the file, the file is copied to your internal drive and then placed in the trash...
This isnt very logical. If you would delete 1GB of music, it has to copy that 1GB to your internal drive? Does this sound logical to you? Then you are actually filling your internal drive with deleted files from another source...

With Mac's, the tracks from the external drive won't actually delete until you've emptied the trash too. They may appear deleted from the external, but they won't free up space on the external until they're deleted from the trash, aka 'emptied'.

For sure, I'll keep investigating though. Thought it may have been worth mentioning that as part of the discussion :-)

Today I'm having the same problem. It's been working for 8 years or how ever long I've been running Scratch Live. My external files are removed from folder but not going to trash can when deleting. And please don't respond with Ctrl+Shift+Del (or Command+Shift+Del) is how to delete files!!! Look, I've tried on both computers, multiple versions of scratch live, and still not working. I've even created a temporary folder called "TRASH" until I figure this out.
Gonna try 2.4.2. If that doesn't work I'll run Disk Warrior on my external. If that doesn't work I hope can respond like DJ Freestyle with, "ya that i knew. just strange that some move there and sometimes they dont. who knows. ill chalk it up to wonderful world of shit we dont understand. :)"
Anyway, if anyone has a clear solution to this I'd like to know. I've read multiple threads and have taken advice from SERATO posts, but nothing is working right now.

Worked for me. Opened and shut serato twice. Then did a new backup. Been deleting files all day with no problems.

the file i want to get rid of i just highlight it on serato DJ then hit "Ctrl-R" then your file finder pops up wherever you had it saved on your external then i just drag the file to the trash bin then once thats done i Ctrl+Shift+Del the highlighted file on serato DJ and its gone "oh yeah you have to empty your trash bin" it's kind of a pain but this is the alternative i found that works.

For those of you who do not want to Delete the Back-up, you can also rename it to something else. When you rename it, Scratch Live ignores it. So its almost like its been deleted.
Does this work for anyone else?
