Ok. I am planning to get Scratch LIVE but I dont know if I should get sucky decks or like technics or something?? Is there a difference? Check me on this one: I think it would matter because you are scratching and you would want turntables that are good like technics or something right???? Also for mixing. If that is correct also what turntables do you think are the best with Scratch LIVE?

Doesn't matter what you use. It's all on what you feel comfortable on DJing with. ;) Me personally, i like to use Technics. If I had to pick another deck, I'd get the Numark TTM i think is what it is called?

concider the vestax pdx's.... i have them... awsome tables..... and you have to remeber somthing.... if u are really going to take djing seriously and know that your going to do this in the future (dosnt have to be ur main job) then you need to get high end tables.... either the 1210s or pdxs...... if your just doing this to play around with it.. or a hobby that your not going to be to into it then you should get somthing like the numark tt 200 or 500..... unless your going to mix dance music... dont get the stantons.......... remember... djing (especially using turntables) is a very expensive thing.

Why? They're not bad turntables at all. Bet you could scratch pretty well on both.

Yes I get that but like does the quality of the turntable matter at all because your not playing records?

The sound quality of the turntables doesn't really matter as long as the signal is nice and clean and the tables aren't picking up too much noise.
However the build quality of the deck and how it reacts to stops and starts and how well it keeps the pitch are very important for SSL. The tracking is also important as this affects stereo balance which needs to be consistant across the whole deck.
I would seriously advise buying good quality decks, whether they be technics 1200, vestax PDX-2000 or numark TTX. They will last you for ever and still be worth at least half what you paid for them in 10 years time.

What decks would you guys recommend if I am not using SSL? I will be using my decks just for a hobby. I wont be doing partys or something. I will just try to make remixes and that and also I will do some radio work with them? What do you recommend just for hobby and what do you recommend for radio work? or for both???

If you're going to try doing blends and remixes etc, you're going to need solid pitch, not a plastic gemini belt drive TT that glides around like Fred Astair...

lol. Can you show me a good one?? Yeah. When people dj do they mix around with the pitch?? I never heard that??

My honest advice if you don't have experienced DJ friends, is take a class, Red Bull often sponsor schools all over the world I believe...
I found this page: www.somusical.com
Which seems to have quite a bit of US stuff on it.
Chances are that someone on the course, probably the guy taking it, will have a hook-up for deals on equipment, and will have tons of advice for what you need.

Get some decent 2nd hand 1200s, thrash the shit out of them, and go from there.

He just went to a lot of trouble to make an awesome post for you.
