I have been using VCI380 since purchasing it a few months ago.

I frequently (every minute or so, not constant though) get loud stabbing pops when:
- holding shift and slowly turning the channel fx selector knob
- turning the padfx knob

The pops are loud and stabbing, not like an audio dropout in Traktor where the sound may be garbled or pause. This is almost a bang and is hard on the ears. I have been embarrassed at gigs multiple times.

I have used latency mon to determine the source of my laptop latency and disabled the offenders (ndis.sys - battery monitoring/ acpi.sys - wifi card). Furthermore I started using Gamebooster to further disable other non-neceassary windows 7 services. Lastly I have switch processor scheduling from 'programs' to 'background services'.

End result, there are still pops.

So then, I thought maybe grounding, therefore I plugged the VCI power into a different outlet than my laptop power. Also bought a ground isolator and put that inbetween the rca out and speakers.

Still pops.

I am out of ideas and frustrated. To further exascerbate things 2.2.2 just crashes and doesn't work at all (see a differnt help request). And I see that the serato software roadmap doesnt have the new DJ software comign to the VCI until next year :(

Hey ScooterADAM,

I would probably recommend going through the following optimization guide first of all: serato.com

Have you analyzed all files and ensured none of them are showing the corrupt file symbol?

Hi Martin C,

I will go through and double check against every item on that optimization list and let you know soon. But as you can see I have tried following many optimization steps already to no avail.

I play almost exclusively 320k mp3 purchased online,. When I have seen the behaviour shown above it has been while playing this music. I don't see how any lower quality or even corrupt files that are being played would cause a massive banging static pop. Please explain.

EDIT - I don't see how any lower quality or even corrupt files that are NOT CURRENTLY being played would cause a massive banging static pop. Please explain.

Probably not directly related, but I am trying to eliminate any possible variables that could be causing USB conflicts. You have done some fairly thorough optimizations too, I must agree.

What about lets look at trying a DPC trace report could tell us, check out this page: serato.com

One question, your processor referred to as "Ivy Bridge", correct?

Hello scooterADAM,

Did you manage to run a DPC trace report tool?
