What it is...

So this is odd. I have a couple of tracks that the main waveform will not display properly. It flickers rapidly. This only happens on specific files and only on the Left Hand deck and the offline player. If i load one of these songs on the right hand deck it will show the main waveform properly and play properly also. However if i load the song on the left hand deck the main waveform will flicker in and out. If i try to one of these tracks with offline player or right deck i get no sound except an occasional pop but no music. The Track overview display is fine. It shows the complete wave form and all cue points. All of these songs were fine originally. Most of them i actually set the cues and loops with the offline player before the tracks started acting funny.

If i hit play i can see the track moving since the waveform will flicker but no sound. When i reach a loop in the song all you see is a green bar with the wave flickering in and out. Of course there is no sound.

I am using Serato 1.8.0 and Mac os x 10.4.11. If you need more information let me know.

Oh yeah forgot to mention that the status icon on all of these songs does not indicate any problem.

Hi djebelo,

Can you try going into the setup screen, then to the display tab, and adjust the audio cache slider to 60 seconds. Does this make any difference at all?

Michael,

So i moved the audio cache slider to 60 seconds, restarted Serato and it works now! Thanks!

So the larger the audio cache the higher load on my computer's processor correct? Do you guys recommend to keep the cache higher than 15 seconds?

I appreciate it!

That's great :) This is a known bug that will be fixed in our next release.

That's correct. A small audio cache will place less load on your computer, and the tracks will load faster. A large audio cache will give you a bigger view of the waveform when the main waveform is zoomed out. So you'll need to keep it on 60 seconds until this bug is fixed, then it's up to you what setting to keep it on it future versions :)

But you have a Macbook, so it can more than handle a 60 audio cache. It really doesn't put *that much* load on the computer, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the info!
