Hey,

I would like to use an outside audio source to effect the video on my computer. For instance, while another DJ is playing a set, I would route his/her mixer to my computer for the Audio Reactive effects in Serato Video. Is this possible or is there at least a workaround?

My only other thought for a workaround is to sync up a similar song to one that is being played and beat match them such that the audio reactive effects are synced.

Thanks for the help,
Alex

The audio reactive effects work using info from the file, not the actual audio, so there is no way to activate them with an external source.

Your idea is the closest you'll get to achieving what you want.

Gotcha, that does make more sense. Thanks phatbob

Reading up on another idea: possibly using Quartz Composer to route external audio. It seems to be good for audio reactive visualizers that are native to .qtz files. But I can't find anything yet that routes external audio.

However, I did see the update with .qtz visualizations that react to VSL: serato.com

Hi reallysmartrock,

phatbob is correct, the synced video effects are being generated by the overview of the file itself.

There are ways of 'cheating' this as you have mentioned above. Playing BPM specific click tracks in Scratch Live that are the same BPM as the live audio feed is one solution. Tapping the BPM in to your playing track in Scratch Live would also be an option.

I will look into the Quartz possibilities and let you know any further detail, although the visual content would then be drawn from the Quartz directory and not your Scratch Live video library.

Regards,

Anthony
