so has anyone tried replacing the knobs on the rane 62? for better visibility?
i have screwed up quite a few times. the knobs are super hard to see in the dark, goin from the rane 68 to the 62.. the 68 all the knobs are in place, but the 62 the knobs are a little scattered, i know in time i will be fine.. but for now im confusing myself. and want to at least HIGH LIGHT the lines on the knobs or soemthing
has anyone else had this problem?

You could buy some Chroma Caps...they will definitely be visible in the dark. ;)

Hi
I have changed all the level nobs with the eq. I like that they are thicker. More like pioneer.

Cool!
I want to buy them myself, but I can't decide on the color scheme I want yet.
Which ones did you get?

Hm, that's one way to go, but I was thinking of exchanging all the knobs, and to buy all the knobs in all the colors will amount to almost $ 500, which is a bit steep for knobs...hehe

soooooo. i got the knobs in, the biggest ones are not cool at all, they are too big. the other knobs are good and u can kind of see them in the dark, but u cant see the line/marker at the top of the knob,
my opinion... dont buy these until they make the top line go thru half of the knob, it only goes like a quarter of the way? not cool. seriously. its almost a fail.
but the feel of the knob and how it fits and everything else is spot on!
to each ur own.

i guess its not hard, but why should i when i paid?
so anyways last night i did take a sharpee marker and made the line longer, i guess im still not 100% happy with it, but its still better than the rane knobs. the blue leds on the mixer wash out the color of the knobs, so white or yellow are the best colors to get!
anyone have any other suggestions?

BTW Henry GQ Which Knobs did you get that fit well, I don't see Rane 62 Listed in the Size Chart Thanks

i got the biggest ones.. and then i got the the smaller ones as well. my preference is the smaller ones. they fit way better!
the bigger ones.. have a gap from the mixer to the cap itself... not very eye appealing bro

While we are talking visibility....
I actually ran into the opposite with my first weekend with the mixer
(actually just ordered after test running it over the weekend)
with lights in the booth close to the mixer i found it hard to tell the difference when the FlexFX was engaged or not.
is there a way to pull the default brightness down to super dim, and have the engaged option be full brightness.
I found myself having to take a second every mix to REALLY look at the flexFX button on
each channel... of course down the road once im comfy with the mixer i can shut the lights off and be fine (like i am on the 57) but without the light i kept grabbing the filter vs bass....
then with the lights on I kept leaving the echo on.
sure its miniscule...
The other thing i WOULD HAVE LOOOOOOOVED was a "LOAD TO PREPARE" FUNCTION! Maybe Hold the scroll knob down for 2 seconds or something???????
please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Prepare box has become an integral part of my sets....

i painted my knobs this morning
i129.photobucket.com
i129.photobucket.com
the 2nd picture is with no lights on.
i founnd after a week with it, there was no way i could go on without the white on the caps.
almost every where i play the booth is blacked out (also created the need for the white skin)
i use finger nail art paint (not straight nail polish)
it tends to resist oils from your fingers a bit better, and comes with a tiny brush

Its upsetting Rane didnt think of this. The paint scheme for the knobs is terrible for pretty much any nightclub. I cant tell the position of the knobs unless I have lights in the Dj booth on. And then then when I do that I end up leaving the effects on by mistake because I cant tell if they are on or off. I mean its not that bad, but for the money I paid for this mixer it should have been thought out better. These mixers are being used in dark nightclubs. Damn get it together.

This was something i mentioned when it was first released :(
btw, great idea on painting the fader caps for better visibility.

Also can I mention that I hate the cue system. Its a rane, not a pioneer for christs sakes. Im so not feeling the push button cue. Ive had Rane mixers since the 90's. The cue system has always been quick and easy to use, all in one place. This new setup is straight pioneer/house DJ type shit.

How would you suggest we change the design so you can cue three different sources (PGM1, PGM2, USB Aux)?

You should have left the cue system as it was on the 57. Not every venue we play at have monitors. So in that sense there were certain things I could do quicker, better. Setting up a juggle and then hitting one button to monitor it in master. The volume stayed at the same level too, it was great! Now I have to hit one button over here and then another button over there and then turn some dial to hear the master at a lower volume. It sucks for me, but im getting used to it. The usb aux could still be there as well as push button. I havent used it at all, I havent seen anyone else either. It would have been nice to at least give people the option of using the cue system like the older mixers. The dial could have been left to right and the split cue button could have been the master/cue button. Easy and quick.

There is a reason why Pioneer and every other dj manufacturer add buttons for cueing on a mixer that has more than two channels.
Its not a simple A/B slide to one side to hear A and slide to the other side to hear B.
If the mixer was a two channel mixer we would have kept it the same as the 57.
Let me know if you can think of a viable way to cue the Aux channel and maybe we'll add that to our next 3 channel mixer.

Some of the knobs fit, but kinda funny. Benji hit me up, I got a pack of those DJ Techtool knobs.
