Technics face plates

dreamkast 9:43 AM - 12 August, 2012
So I own a pair of 1210 mk2's. Their in nice condition but I'm really fiending a mint looking setup. Don't want anything cheesy, so was thinking about getting a pair of the black face plates from 12inchskins, just wondering if anyone has these and can maybe tell me what you think of them or even post pics up.

www.12inchskinz.com

I'll be probably chucking a silver/black skin on my 57 aswell to match the black turntables (and silver tone arms).
DJ GOOK 2:26 AM - 13 August, 2012
cant go wrong with 12inchskinz
dreamkast 2:43 AM - 13 August, 2012
Thanks haha, looking to see some pics of peoples setup with these faceplates on.
str8nger 3:37 AM - 13 August, 2012
Only thing I don't like about those faceplates looks like there cut for the tops so u will see some of the original color on the sides Get vinyl wrap & cover the whole deck
dreamkast 5:33 AM - 13 August, 2012
My turntables are already black or dark grey, whatever you want to call a 1210 so it shouldnt look to bad if I get the black faceplate?
str8nger 5:38 AM - 13 August, 2012
Are u gettin any art done or plane black?
dreamkast 6:15 AM - 13 August, 2012
Plane Black, not confirmed or anything but yer I want solid colours.
dreamkast 6:29 AM - 13 August, 2012
Plain black sorry lol. But yep wanting a solid colour clean look.
str8nger 2:29 PM - 13 August, 2012
What's wrong with the black u have now? Are they beat up? I mean if u was getting faceplates I would get some crazy art done. Lol just me thoe
dreamkast 2:41 PM - 13 August, 2012
Their in good condition just old and look a tad faded. Nah never been a fan of over the top cheesy stuff.
str8nger 3:20 PM - 13 August, 2012
I feel ya cheesy decks lol
DJ'Que 3:20 PM - 13 August, 2012
How about getting them custom painted or powder coated. Mines were beat and since I do others I did mines

The acrylic face plates are a cost effective non-permanent dressing for your turntables. They are light weight and will not scratch the surface like the clunky metal ones. Vinyl wraps are cool but just dont look as audiophile as the acrylic gloss surface. Here is the black face plate and custom Serato picture disc that we also offer.

Can you do the plain black with a metallic look? Kinda similar to the MG5's black look?

Where can I get that slipmat?
str8nger 5:21 PM - 13 August, 2012
The 12"skin acrylics u can see the sides wich looks hella stupid. Why do they do that? Why not make some that cove the whole sides too.

Good question. Was wondering the same ...
MPC O.G. 5:45 PM - 13 August, 2012
Its cheaper for you AND them to do it that way. I have the black ones on my 1200's and they make my shiz look great. I don't worry about how the sides look because my TT's are in coffins. I'm definitely going to get my 57 done. If you don't like them, don't get them.

Not a slip mat. That is an ACTUAL custom clear Serato control vinyl. Yes, they actually work. Check these out.

Thank you for your product review! I wish we had know that before Acylick clothing had Qbert and Revolution make this video using our custom 57 skin & 1200 face plates.
Video here> Watchvimeo.com

To answer your question, these are made from flat acrylic, not injection mold. Once again, this is a cost effective, non-permanent 1200 custom accessory.
dreamkast 12:36 AM - 14 August, 2012
I think they look real nice man, thats why I'm heavily considering them vs getting a wrap etc. Just wanting to get maybe a few non studio pics of them being used in someones setup.
phatbob 1:29 AM - 14 August, 2012
Still no 380 skin available, Kartel?

My credit card is waiting!

The 'other guys' have got it listed now but I'm holding out for that 12InchSkinz quality... ;-)
PopRoXxX 1:30 AM - 14 August, 2012
My question didn't get answered yet. LOL!

Is it like those Serato pressings with 40 minutes of useless tracks and only 10 minutes of control signal?

I'm not sure if he is doing the same thing, but there is a WHOLE thread in the DJ Discussion area that tells you what they're all doing. Painting one side of a Clear CV and just using the unpainted side to play on (as you can see the painting/images side through the clear vinyl to the playing side)
