Happened to me a few years ago but I still remember.
When I worked at Chauncey record store in Detroit, he told me that I would get tired of hearing music.
At the time I worked the record store for 6 days a week and DJ'd 3-4 nights a week. I was crazy about music old/new it did not matter.
I thought he was crazy.
Sure enough a few months later it hit me Music O.D.
It could have been the repetition of certain songs being played over and over on radio and in the clubs I dunno. I would get so uptight at the day job and at night while spinning.
He told me the way to cure it too.
The plan was to only listen to music when I came to work and when I spin records at night. On my way to work-no radio. When I am off work-no TV. He even suggested I turn my phone off when not working. Had to even take time off from practicing for a while. Enjoy peace and quiet for a change. I was like Huh?
It took a couple maybe 3 months but the result?
Guess what...it worked.
Good luck frost-9

don't hit review/clear.. and then next gig.. don't play any of the songs you played @ the last gig.
i save all of my tracklistings, and have a rule of never to start of end a set with the same songs. the middle bit you have no option but to play all the current club bangers.
got a tip though, get a residency somewhere on a quiet night, like say a tuesday, where you're just providing background music/vibes, that way you're under no pressure to get a dancefloor going and can really concentrate on music that you haven't heard before or explored. and its great prep for future nights.

I HATE MUSIC!!!!!
Actually, its the stuff that is killing me. If I ever meet Soldier Boy I swear I'm going to mush him so hard that he's going to fall backward.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term "Mushing" it is when you grab someone by the face and push them backwards. LOL

It depends on the context.
When practicing at home, I'm constantly searching for new ways to program tired old songs so that they don't sound old and tired anymore. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes the results are amusingly silly. :D
When programming on-the-fly at the club, I often find that the perfect record to program at a certain point will be a song that I'm totally sick of. I'll mix into it, the crowd will absolutely love it, and it will feel fresh and exciting to me because of the way it's programmed and because the crowd is enjoying it so much.
I suppose the other remedy for this problem is to only play music that you really really love, and to stay away from genres that are chock-full of boring, repetitive crap in the first place.

I like to dig in the crates for old classics I used to love, I mostly listen to hip-hop, so I just pulled out some Gangstarr,AZ,O.C., Organized Konfusion,...etc. I'm constantly on the lookout for new music, just found some bangers on 8thwonder last night. I also love to give the underground artists a chance. Right now it's J-live and 334 Mobb for me.

The plan was to only listen to music when I came to work and when I spin records at night. On my way to work-no radio.
I became a Tom Lykis fan because of something like that - no music - just Talk radio while I was in the car about 5 years ago. It does work.
Also change genres...
I went from House/Techno to Hip House to R&B/Rap and am trying to come full circle back to House again (along with the R&B and Rap).

Yeah I don't blame you. Just take a break, go looking for more good music, ask around, and be real open to all kinds of music.
Personally, for me, finding out more about old school hiphop and educating myself gets me refreshed. I'll go through periods of being into newer club songs, then go through a period of loving old school stuff. Plus, there's some new stuff I like once I look hard enough, so the music is always endless.

Freestyle baby. That's the way to go. I don't see how you can get sick of 30,000 songs.
That's what i do Sixxx. I Dj every Saturday night hip hop here in Iraq and i never plan shit. I might grab a couple of new tracks i want to play in the night, but mostly freestyle. It's better cause the crowd is always different, so what worked last week might get you booed this week. Plus it keeps the crowd guessing cause they know you going to bring it everytime. It's never good for a patron to say what you're going to play next once you get into your "Safe Set"

problem is, I can't imagine playing freestyle to the soulja boy generation. I have nothing in common with people that have an affinity for that crap.
when I play house, it's strictly spur of the moment.. what works works. I think when you're going to spin freestyle.. it's hugely helpful when you actually like what you're playing.
I think what djaleksei said on here was great advice for people in my predicament.. while I'll never stop looking for new and better music, I think it's a great idea to both start and finish with completely different sets and never follow any kind of pattern, but when the bitches start whining about Kanye, and Lupe, and whatever asshole put out an album last week, that they won't care about 3 weeks from now, it's time to rock the 'tried and tested' tracks.
That's not to advocate playing the same tracks in the same order, but when you have a room full of hard-to-please people that only like songs that are new (simply because they are new, not because they're good).. it helps to have a rough set structure that you can work with. It's not like when comedians go on stage, or when rappers battle, they don't have some kind of plan. In an ideal world, we'd all be able to spin freestyle all the time, but unfortunately, most people are not nearly as open minded about music that we'd like.

I have to agree with you Frost-9 about this generation of party goers. Just cause they got the leak of so so album off *********** that doesn't me You suck cause you don't have it. The Net can work for you are against you sometimes. Most of the time it cause songs to be old before their time. And MTV doesn't help when they show the same video's over and over again. Radio is no better. How the hell the Live at 5 mix is the same as the guy that comes on at 9. Then when they come to the club they want to hear the same stuff over and over again.
auughhh.... Fuck it.. I'm going to just start saying "YAAHHH TRICK YAAAHH"

The military wouldn't allow a dj to come out and spin in Iraq for some big troop party. When I was there, we had one guy who actually came out to Iraq, on our FOB....Toby Keith. I wasn't actually on any missions during his "mini concert" but I sure as hell didn't go. I think I was playing Halo with an M4
