Shipping Serato to the UK

Rory 12:21 PM - 14 September, 2004
Would a serato package bought in the US work fine in the UK if a power convertor etc is bought (if needed)

Cheers..

£300 in the states, £450 in the uk - tempting..

I think the US price exludes tax, the UK includes it....
But why should it not work.
Stuart Ramdeen 6:56 PM - 14 September, 2004
yep it would work. Teh uk price is so expensive as it has to go through a distributor before it gets in the hands of us public. I think serato should set up a paypal account and we can get it straight from the us or nz :-D j/k

I paid £550 for mine. Ouch. If you've seen it for £450 I'd grab it while you can!

/thinks that maybe when I'm back in new york I'll be picking up a bulk supply of SSL boxes and knocking em out down the local market for £400 :-)

when i told a rane guy i got mine in nyc he had a paddy about grey importing, i dont think theres anything wrong with not wanting to get ripped off.

I'm UK and mine was £450 - well worth it though, and when you offset a quick ebay job(£350) on my old final crash into the deal it makes perfect sense to upgrade to SSL.

Although i must admit since going to build 1113 i'm sudenly gettng a few "stutter" probs with mp3s that were fine under 1112.....

But anyways.....

Go for it man, £450 for SSL is much better than going for final crash and spending 3 months trying to get the bloody thing to work - and i was a long time user that had no problems at all with the earlier(1.0.x) versions!

I'll sell you mine for 400?
Rory 9:55 PM - 15 September, 2004
im saying i can order it in the states for £300, not 450, and get it shipped here (my girl is shipping an ibook at the same time so i can just get it thrown in)

j: you in the uk?
dam 6:27 AM - 16 September, 2004
yeah, newcastle do you not have to pay extra tax etc to bring it into the country, would probs let mine go for 350- desperately need the cash as I've just been ripped off on ebay!
Stuart Ramdeen 10:34 AM - 16 September, 2004
Rory, just be careful about import duties paid. Especially if you're shipping over an iBook. The price difference in the states is not a huge amount and if you have to pay a handling fee plug import tax it will prolly work out more expensive than buying in the UK. As for SSL though, as it's SOOO much cheaper in the states, even if you did have to pay tax on the import, it may work out cheaper than buying it from a uk dealer! crazy

If you buy your hardware from the States, you will not be eligible for support outside the United States, because support is handled by local distributors, and if you don't buy it from them, they have would no reason to support the purchase. It just means that if something went wrong with the unit, you'd have to go back to the States.

Question
What kind of power plug type is standard in japan. Is it the same as the U.S.?

And why is the sky blue?*l
