Rane 62 - Echo Mix/Feedback Controls

Dabrain23 2:49 AM - 15 June, 2012
I really don't understand why in the setup page there is no Mix/Feedback controls on the built-in echo effect. This is the only thing i used in the 57.
On the 57 when you set it to mix-37 you can hear the signal out almost with as much level as it was when it was playing, and then the feedback could be reduced so it won't stay for too long and do damage to the next track.
In the 62 i have to take the Depth knob all the way to the right to get a good out-echo-level but then the feedback is just terrible. Let the Depth knob control either the Mix or the Feedback but not Both!! Please!

Did anyone figure out a way to control the mix? I feel like when I echo out the volum of it is very weak. And like Eazy said, if the depth knob is turned to far to the right the feedback just keeps looping. I miss the rane 57 echo. Best on te market.

No solution yet i guess...
We wait... :-)

atm, i have the depth knob at the 3 o'clock position (3/4 up) and it works adequately.

I do hope they are implementing future options to control "depth AND feedback" levels for better echo control.

the more you mess with it the better you can get it to sound

play with every way you can cut off the input sound:
-cut the line fader
-cut the cross fader
-turn off the fx select for that channel
-hit the echo button to turn it off
-push the beat select knob in, this will hold the echo you have till you hit it again, or turn off the effect in another way.
-and finally here is my trick, use the filter to cut the volume. sounds really nice going into a heavy echo with a high resonance

After years on the 57 and getting the HPHold to sound like it was a studio effect. My last 4 nights on the 62 and I clench my teeth everytine I try to recreate that smooth as butter echo (even on regular)

Please make this work like the 57 echo!!

the only remotely close to decent work around (and its barely a good one) is to have the echo depth knob to 10, engage the echo, then roll the knob back to noon after the first few taps of the echo...

but what im running into now is the echo trail losing its BPM_Locked ability.
I know theres a bug where it defaults to 120 if the mixer cant detect a BPM
(was this fixed in 243? I dont know im in 242)
where as before i could even echo out a platter-stop on the 57, I now have to keep the
record playing, and just drop the fader... otherwise the trail goes drifting even faster!

I would be the happiest guy in the world if they would take the ECHO HARDWARE INTERFACE FROM THE 57 and drop it in the control panel!
Personally I dont change my effect parameters too otfen to be needing to go into the setup tab, or use the firmware shortcut on the mixer itself.

This is probably the single most crippling thing Ive run into on the unit. (that and i just read nor the on board effects or the DJFx will record in MixTape)

Thanks guys for bumping this thread from time to time. Someday in a galaxy far away someone will notice it and fix it.

Has this been fixed yet? I just got my 62 a couple of days ago and this problem seems to still exist. A fix would be awesome! cause the echo effect is probably one of the most used effects and it should be one of the highest priorities for Rane/Serato to address, especially since the mixer costs an arm and a leg!!!

yes, the FX volume does seem rather low.
I've found it even worse with vinyl than with using digital files too.

i had suggested a more optioned panel for the echo in the effect parameters screen.

in the meantime, the workaround i use is to keep the knob at 4'0clock, then after the echo trails as long as i need it to, i back the knob back to 1'Oclock

sadly
