ogg drop works for me. you can't drop mp3s on it if that's what you're trying to do--they need to be aif which you can do in itunes.

iTunes works best using the OGG decoder from here www.illadvised.com
Just stick the codec in your Quicktime directory in your /Library.
Then restart iTunes add the OGGs and then you can select them and convert from the advanced menu.

how'd you get itunes to recognize the ogg plugin? it will play it back ogg files just fine but doesn't give me an option to encode as ogg.
i just tried a wav file.. oggdrop didn't like it. what a picky fucker eh? so far only aif has worked for me.

Yea the Quictime plugin just allows you to play OGG files in iTunes....it doesn't allow you to encode OGG within iTunes? Am I right,
I agree OGG Drop is picky as hell. Looks like if I want to use OGG I am going to have to convert my WAVs to AIFF unless I find another solution,

The WAV to AIFF conversion shouldn't degrade the audio, as AIFF's and WAVs are basically identical save for reverse byte ordering.

yea I know that Josh but you have to remember I have all my SSL tracks setup in iTunes and reading in SSL as WAVs....so I have to make duplicates of my WAVs then convert those to AIFF then proceed with my OGG conversion....not a big deal just a couple more steps.
I know I can go about this in other ways but I have my reasons...for why I am doing it this way ;)
Thanks for the help guys. :)

Alexander, That is a decoder not an encoder. I use it to listen to OGGs in iTunes and converting them to MP3s or AIFFs. To actually encode OGGS I used to use OGG drop, but lately I have been using Music Man www.mireth.com It works well.

I know what you mean KFunk! We are all on the same page......I would also like to use Drop but from what has been said it only likes AIFF not WAV. I will check out this Music Man but I am not in the mood to pay $20 for another prog just yet.....I rather just do what I said above and use Drop.

why make it harder on yourself? i have no idea why you'd want duplicate wavs since a conversion to aif would already make a copy. what i'd do is make a smart playlist in itunes and set it to find all your wav files. select the whole playlist and convert to aif. make a smart playlist with just aif, then drag all those files onto ogg drop. piss easy. then delete whatever format you don't want to keep around (personally, I would delete the wav files since you're running on mac and it seems the OS deals with aif files faster).

SpinThis! I must of read your mind last night because that is what I exactly did and it worked like a charm....the only thing with that is now I am going through rebuilding my crates for my AIFF files..that is no biggie though since I am using chubbsta's Batch Analyzer Script :)......OGG Drop also wokred great as soon as I dropped those AIFF files in the app....can't wait for the OGG support from SSL as you can see I am getting ready for it!
DWL iTunes does play OGG files....you just have to install the component so it can read them in iTunes...you can get it here....www.illadvised.com for all the info guys. :)
