I am having issues with my installation of Itch on my new MacBook Pro.

I do not seem to have any hardware problems, as I connected my NS7 to my other laptop running Itch on Windows 7, and was able to successfully connect and use it.

On my Mac, there is a "Hardware disconnected" message when I open Itch. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Program numerous times, with no resolution. My NS7 shows connected in my Audio Midi set-up and it also shows as "connected" when I double click the Numark audio panel. But it does not run in Itch.

PLEASE HELP.

Hey Jesilam,

It seems you may need to download the 'Drivers' for your Numark NS7. The link below will take you to the Numark NS7 product page:

www.numark.com (click link)

On the right hand side of this page, scroll down and find the header 'Downloads', and then Click on the 'Macintosh Driver' to download.

Once thats installed, restart your computer and then start up ITCH.

Let me know how you go with this.

Would have thought the driver was in the original installation package.

Downloaded the mac driver from the site, which would not open until I converted it with the disc utility (it was giving me an error, "Problem with DMG - legacy image should be converted"). After the installation, I was hopeful on the reboot. Loaded up Itch... came up with the same error, "Hardware disconnected".

Any other suggestions???

Hey jesilam,

That is really odd.

Could you please check that your USB 2.0 cord isn't faulty? You can purchase one from your local electronic store. It may also pay to have a spare USB 2.0 cord around as well.

Let me know how you go with this.

Went out and bought a brand new 2.0 cable, connected the NS7 to the Mac. Rebooted computer, turned on the unit, opened up Itch.... crossed my fingers... and found the same message. Not sure what's going on here. I feel as if I've tried everything.

My Macbook is running Mac OS X 10.7.4, could this be an issue of compatibility?

Any other suggestions? Could really use the help. I bought the Macbook just recently to use with my equipment.

Thanks.

Hey jesilam,

Okay. Please follow the following instructions below:

Macintosh HD -> System -> Library -> Extensions -> NumarkNS7Audio.kext (driver)

These instructions will allow us to identify if you have the above driver.

Let me know how you go with this, i have a few more suggestions we can use.
jesilam 5:20 AM - 6 June, 2012
Yes, I have confirmed that the NumarkNS7Audio.kext is in the extensions folder (along with NumarkNS6Audio.kext & NumarkV7Audio.kext)

Not sure if it is relevant... but Itch also lags when opening up on my Mac. When clicking on the application, a blank screen comes up and takes a couple minutes to load. Would this be normal behavior on a Mac? Itch usually doesn't take as long to load on my Windows Computer.

I'm still getting the Hardware Disconnected message.

Hey jesilam,

You mentioned you looked in the Audio MIDI Setup, Can you confirm that your controller is showing up in your Audio Window, as well as in the MIDI Window?.

In the MIDI Window, what is the controller called?
jesilam 6:29 AM - 7 June, 2012
Not sure what you mean by audio window but in the audio midi setup window it shows under audio devices that my controller connected is: Numark USB Audio device.

Hey jesilam,

Thanks for that. I need you to access the MIDI window, to do this:

Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup -> in the top menu bar select 'Window' -> scroll down and find 'Show MIDI Window' -> Now search in this window to see if you can locate the 'Numark Audio Device'

This is what the Numark NS7 should be showing as in this window, if it is showing as something else, please let me know.

Interesting.... so the Midi Window freezes on the loading screen then crashes with an error, "the Midi server can't be opened". It asks me to uninstall most recent driver. Tried uninstalling driver by selecting all my Numark files in the finder and dragging them to the trash. Emptied trash and rebooted computer to see if Midi Window opens, but it still freezes. Don't know if I uninstalled correctly.

Please let me know your thoughts. Got a gig tomorrow, and hope to get this up and running before then. Thanks.

I just purchased a NS7FX yesterday. I'm running Mac OS 10.7.4 I installed the disc that came with it V1.4.1, when the program started after 3 minutes or maybe longer,i then received the Hardware Disconnected message. The play button did light up and control the wheels but not the computer. Then i went online to the serato site and updated to 2.2 and nothing worked at all. Same hardware disconnected message. I also installed the drivers from the Numark site and same error message.

What do I do now?????
jesilam 3:58 AM - 8 June, 2012
Eureka. Got it up and running. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. So as it turns out, it would seem that the NS7 is not compatible with Protools on my computer. After I uninstalled Protools and drivers, and reinstalled the NS7 drivers, I got it to work. Just in time for my event tomorrow :-)

At some point, I'll have to figure out why it won't work with Protools. (Or maybe we'll get an update for those drivers).

Thanks again, it's much appreciated!
