Editing VOB files...

Hello, I have a question for all of you video editing pro's! :)
With Video-SL coming soon, I'm starting to make my own video edits using my Promo Only dvd's. However I'm having a problem with interlacing. I have each video split into individual VOB files, but when I import them into Sony Vegas 7, there are lots of interlacing artifacts, even after I render the final output. For the project settings, I chose progressive scan, and for the media properties I chose progressive scan as well.
Just to be sure it wasn't the file, I had my friend import the same VOB file (Maroon 5 - Wake Up Call, in case it matters) into his Final Cut software, however he hasn't ever edited directly from a VOB, only from DV so he wasn't sure exactly what settings to use.
Is there a way to edit without the final output having bad interlacing? I know it must be possible with at least some kind of software; I see guys like 2nd Nature doing their own videos from PO dvd's and there aren't any interlacing problems.
Thanks in advance! :)

In sony Vegas make sure you work and render to the same tv-system as your VOB files, in PO USA it's NTSC.
If you rendera NTSC to PAL you will get interlaceing effects since the hight of NTSC is 480 and 576 on PAL.

I'm not hugely familiar with Vegas but by "media properties" do you mean the properties of the VOB you are importing? If so I would try setting that to interlace then the software should deinterlace the file to match the project setting.

Hmm, well I tried everything with a couple other files and it seemed to work fine...the Maroon 5 video itself must have some interlacing problems then! Thanks for all the replies :)
