This is fixed in 1.2 :-)

Are the digits after the decimal point simply cut off or is it a rounding function?

I would like to see an accuracy of one decimal digit show... :-) Maybe in 1.3 .

does it really matter whether your bpm is 3 tenths long or none? as far as i'm concerned, a bpm is only used as a rough estimate of a song's tempo. i mean are we robots or are we DJs? c'mon now...

Besides the fact that 0.1 bpm difference makes a difference (You might no hear that... some do, but you will defintly agree that you can hear a difference of 1 bpm, which shows that no decimal digits are not accurate enough at all) some have their crates sorted by bpms, no we all know that bpm algos are not 100% accurate, which means on one file you can get a result of 99.9bpm, and on the next file, which is basically the same song, but maybe with a different encoder/settings, you'll get a bpm of 100.1 . Where is the problem? I got my crates sorted by bpms, I got normal and instrumental versions of a couple of songs, it would be nice if they will be listed together. Right now it could be, that the normal version is listed with 99bpms (bpm is 99.9), and then the instrumental is listed after a couple of other songs at 100 (bpm is 100.1) between those both songs, which have the same bpm, other songs which have a bpm of 100 up to 100.9 may creep in, cause they are rounded to 100.

Long explenation for a little thing. If this decimal digit is optional I dont think this would hurt anyone, as this does not seem to be a biiig coding thing, I guess.

For my experience, I use BPM to have an approximate value. Even if the BPM is 100.9 , and Serato show 100, I know it will be mixable or not when I have to choose fastly a song.
No decimals is good for me : only 3 digits, then more place for other fields.

getting away from the bpm thing for a second, that grouping suggestion would be excellent. the most obvious thing it would group on would be album i'd guess. maybe like a disclosure triangle (on the mac) or the trees or whatever in windows where you'd expand the view and see all the different versions of a song. or maybe have something like the itunes-eque feature where you click on the little -> arrow to find artists or songs or albums, etc that match what you just clicked on.
nik39 6:40 PM - 6 September, 2004
SpinThis, what would you thin of subfolders... That should do it, right?
nik39 6:40 PM - 6 September, 2004
I meant subcrates in crates.
KFunk 7:58 PM - 6 September, 2004
this is a feature I was just about to submit, and maybe some playlist markers for real records that are used in a set, so you could organize a crate by set and have markers in between your mp3's that signify the real vinyl.

sorry i wasent very clear... In the current serato program (build) the bpm 91.81 = 91

but i would like 91.81 = 92

or

91.81 = 91.81

I love having all the bpms, but it would be nice if the serato program rounded the bpms or left the decimal numbers there... this way i can see if the song is on the high or low end of the respective bpm

quick question for Josh...

when i sort my songs by bpm does it sort them taking the frational value of the bpm into consideration? or are the songs randomly sorted within their respective bpms?

Yep, I knew you meant that, and it's been fixed, we've added rounding instead of the truncating which is in the current public release.

With the truncating I think you'll be getting the whole number value only, I'm not sure which tag is the next order of sorting, I'll check in the morning. Probably Artist or Songname.
