Rane CASE 3 fits the 62! :)

Just wanted to share this with the other guys who are looking for a case for their 62. I'm not a big fan of those road ready or odyssey cases, they're just too bulky and heavy for me. Did some quick research and found out that the CASE 4 designed for the 68 is the same outer shell as the CASE 3 designed for the 57, 61, etc, with the only difference being the foam inside.
Being that I couldn't wait for Rane to release a case for the 62, I bought a CASE 3 and cut the foam a bit. My 62 fits just fine now!
I love this case! Very lightweight and excellent slim profile. Much more ergonomic than the SKB case I had for my 57. Only complaint about it is that it looks black in the product photos, but it's actually grey. Other than that it's perfect!

thx bebot, can this case be padlocked or locked if needed to be put in a plane cargo?

Yup it has holes for padlocks! If you're interested in buying a pre-cut Rane Case 3 for the 62, let me know! I'm thinking about selling the one in the photos and buying an orange one. Just found out they have different colors for this case.

Is the height of the 57SL and Sixty Two the same? In the dimensions, it says the sixty two is 4" in height, but the 57SL is only 3"(?)

If you have the four rubber feet stuck to the bottom your TTM 57SL, it'll be really close to the height of the Sixty-Two.

Shaun - I'm having the hardest time finding a suitable case for the Sixty Two. I don't want to do the big bulky Odyssey / Marathon cases any more because I fly so much. I'd prefer something along the lines of the Case 3/4, or better, something that rolls. I was looking at this guy: www.skbcases.com ... do you have any idea if it will fit the Sixty-Two? I figure I may have to cut the foam away a little bit, but it's not a big deal.

Since the 62 is THE mixer to have and Rane is going to sell a ton of them to professional DJs, I hope they have a case in the works.

Which case is it? I appreciate the pictures, but can you give us the model name?

any thoughts on this case for the 62?
i like the idea of putting my laptop, mixer, and all cables in one case. if this thing is nice it would simplify my setup even more.

guys yes, the 62 will fit without a problem. i actually had a local foam cutter trim the inside foam though to let the 62 fit inside the foam. but the mixer has a good amount of room to fit if no foam is present. theres a good 2 inches on top and bottom (which is probably what you are wondering) because the 62 is slightly longer than the 57 which the case is made for.

If you're not set on a hard case for your 62 I would suggest to buy the Akai APC40 bag.
It's a pretty good fit(if you use the fastening strap for the APC40 as a "side buffer") and there's two extra compartments which holds my Mac, my two external HD's, Dicers(in case), IEM's, control-records, Ortofon-cartridge case and various power supplies all at the same time.
The only downside is of course that it will not give you the protection of a hard case, but unless you're flying a lot for your gigs it is good enough for normal travel.
