I attached my SL1 directly to my PC USB port, and ensured the blue LED light was on, then installed Scratch Live 2.3.3. After the install completed I opened Scratch Live and it said "Rane Hardware Disconnected". I've uninstalled the SL1 driver under the Device Manager console and attempted to use a different USB port to no avail. I've done this for all 3 of my USB ports and nothing seems to work. I even tried uninstalling Scratch Live and re-installing a previous version of Scratch Live (2.2.0) and that didn't work either.
PLEASE HELP!
PC Info: Sony Vaio, Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit, 4 GB of RAM, Intel Core2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00 GHz.

Did you have the SL1 connected each time while installing the driver?

The very first time I installed Scratch Live, no I didn't have it connected. But I then uninstalled Scratch Live and connected the SL1 then re-installed it. The driver screen showed that the "Driver Updated Successfully" but on my Device Manager console it shows the device as unable to start with a little yellow triangle.

After turning off Windows UAC > serato.com < How-to: Disable User Account Control (UAC)
Please try this:
Close SSL
Connect your Scratch LIVE hardware
Go to All Programs
Open the Serato folder
Open the ScratchLIVE folder and double click the option "Update Drivers" and follow the prompts
After the driver successfully installs, start SSL and do your thing.
FYI, it's recommended to repeat the above process for each USB port on your computer. After driver installation, disconnect the USB cable and then reconnect to the same port. This ensures driver initialization after a fresh driver install :)

So I've done everything you mentioned and it still says "Hardware Disconnected". It says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" in the Device manager for the "Rane SL 1" USB controller.
I did update the BIOS on my PC, with an update I found on Sony's website but that did nothing for this either.
Any other ideas?

When installing the SL1 driver do you have any other USB devices connected to your computer? Do you have anti-virus software running?

No other devices are hooked up. Yes, I do have Microsoft Essentials running.
Should I try to install the original Scratch Live that came with it, rather than a newer version? I believe it is 1.8.x.
I did try to hook it up to my fiances mac book but it gave some message relating to the "USB port drawing too much power and will be disabled" or something like that. It's an older mac book, say 5+ years old. Needless to say, it didn't work on there either.
I haven't received a message like that on my PC though, which is a few years newer than her mac book.

Mac's are definitely more sensitive to USB power issues than PCs (not sure why). If you're experiencing issues with the SL1 on a Mac, something could be wrong with the SL1's USB jack or the USB cable you're using.

I'm going to try a different USB cable tonight and see what that does. If that doesn't work I'll contact you about servicing it at the factory.
Thanks
