Hi,

im using SSL since 2006.
Dont had any Probs till last Night i had my first crash ever during Gig.

One Track was playing.
While Loading next Track the GUI stopped. This Track i played 100 times in 2.3.1(23103) without any Probs.
Audio was playing, but GUI stopped, i wait bout 3 Minutes till the End of the playing Track. No Chance.
Than i do an Hard Reset and start SSL again. I load the same Track again after Restart and it plays without Probs. I dont think that the Reason was one of the Tracks.
I played both (Playing Track & the loaded Track) many Times in 23103.
The Crash was bout after 4 hours Playing.

Also there is no crashfile saved in root/library/logs/crashreporter/
Or is there any other Path ?

Traxx are all reanalyzed with 2.3.1.
Macbook is an 2011 Model 13" Core i7 4GB RAM 750GB HDD.
Lion 10.7.3
Hardware:
TTM57
2x CDJ-400
1x Dicer

Any Ideas ?

Also in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/
No Crashlog.

how big is your library. do you have a crate that has a big amount of songs? Where you getting a beachball when it froze?

also,

is your music internal or external drive.

Library is internal. I dont use external drives.
~10k Traxx ~100GB
Crates are not overstuffed. Most of them are Smart Crates.

The Beachball appears. HDD was ok at this moment. I open the finder and browse thru some files. Also i open some files to see if hdd was working. I dont think hdd was the reason.
MBP is bout 4 Month Old.

The Dicer is new, using since 2 weeks. Maybee the Dicer was the reason ?

Was the computer getting hot? After 4 hours of use it could have been hot which can cause problems.

If this issue comes back, I would then suggest trying to play without the Dicers. Since that was added recently, I wonder if it is having an adverse effect.

No MBP was not hot.

Ive found the Reason. The Dicer was the Problem.
I have reproduced 2 times.
Tested in Automodus, playing both Decks. Once the Freeze come after ~3h and once after ~6h.
Without Dicer it runs over 24h without Freeze.

WOW, that is good trouble shooting. Could be the USB 1.1 issue that we see on PC and used to see on MAC. I see your computer has the i series processor. There have been some Dicer compatability issues that come up in that scenario. Not sure if Novation has a solution but it doesn't seem to be too wide spread.

Tested with Autfill Overviews on and off. There are some known Issues with Dicers and Autofill Overviews.
But the Freeze comes after a few hours. Also tested with 24082, same Freeze.
The Dicer Problem must be fixed.
Im using an 1.1 USB Hub. The CDJ-400 has problems with 2.0 Hubs on Macs.
But also the Dicer has Probs with 1.1 Hubs. So the best Solution at moment is to not use the Dicer @ Live Gigs.

I would hit up novation and see what they say. If history holds true it is most likely having issues with it being a 1.1 USB device. I'm not sure what they suggest as a solution to that.

Yes definitly the 1.1 Hub is the Problem. I can reproduce the Freeze every Time with the 1.1Hub.
With an 2.0 Hub tested over 24h in Automodus no Freeze.

The Prob is that i cant use CDJ-400 with 2.0 Hub. Couse they have probs with it.
I tested over 20 Usb Hubs to find one 1.1 Hub where the CDJ-400 has no probs.

Best Solution at moment is using the 1.1 Hub without Dicer :D
