will i never tried that but i use to turn my smart crates in to real crates, by making a crate and dragging the contents in the smart crate to real crate so i have it for good!

but then it no longer updates...?

here is a tip, dont kno if it will work but.....

go to the music floder on ur pc and copy the" _serato_ " folder then on ur external make a new folder and place the copy serato file in it and when u plug the external to ur main laptop, jus go to that folder and copy the SMART CRATE folder in "_serato_" folder and replace the smart crate with that, and that should work.

Thx Chubs...I copied just the Smart Crates folder from my Home PC, where I set all my cue points and analyze music, to the removable drive. Plugged the removable into laptop1, and copied the smart crates folder to the C drive on that laptop. Worked fine...I'll copy that for backup laptop.

Kind of a PITA to do it that way...not sure why Serato has such long processes for some things, and others major shortcuts...? But in any case...it worked!

There is no way of having Smart Crates on an external hard drive sorry. The only way to take these with you is to copy the actual Smart Crate files to your external drive and then copy them to the _serato_ folder of the computer you are using when you connect.

Does that make sense?

Thanks Sam...that's what I did. Should be an option though...a lot of us DJ's use multiple computers with the same Harddrive (or a backup mirror copy).

I'll note this down as a feature request :)
