Do you have a special account separate from your main account to use with SSL?
I have an iBook G3 700Mhz with 384MB of Ram, and when I use SSL in a separate account it seems to run smoother... could this be true or is it just my imagination?
My problem is that I use iTunes to organize my music (using the option to copy the songs to the music folder and leting iTunes organize the folders), all my music is in my 'main' user. What I did was make the Music folder in my 'main' home folder available to the 'ssl user' so I could import all the songs to the other iTunes in my 'ssl user'... the problem is that if I erase something or add in my 'main' user the 'ssl user' doesn't update the changes.
Is there a way to sync both iTunes so the one in my 'main user' is exactly the same as the 'ssl user' and if I do changes in any of them the changes reflect in both?
This is a bit confusing... i just want iTunes to be the same one in both users, but OS X makes the 2 iTunes different as if they were 2 separate programs...
Thanks for your help.
PS. Are there certain settings to tweak my SSL user for better performance? (I have the basic settings off such as screensaver, sleep, ignore cds, etc)

In your custom SSL user you can make an alias to the main user's iTunes folder. If you want to be able to edit your iTunes library from both users, be sure to change the permissions of that folder to allow other users write access.

I just tried what you said Steve with no success.
I was in my 'main user' and I created the alias. I then put that alias in the shared folder, and when I clicked that alias inside my new (just created) 'ssl user' the alias for some reason points to a new iTunes... it even asks for all the settings again, etc.
Does OSX make a fresh new copy of the application folder for each user? Because what I think is happenning is that the alias is just pointing to username/applications/itunes , and apparently osx is putting a new itunes in the application folder for the 'ssl user'. So it is not actually pointing to mainuser/applications/itunes but instead it's just usernameloggedin/applications/itunes
Any other ideas?

Also, inside my 'main user' I made the Applications folder and the home folder available to all users... but still the alias keeps bringing me up a new instance of iTunes.
What I'm trying to accomplish is it even possible? Does Apple let you have the same iTunes in different users? This is driving me nuts, sorry for posting so much I'm just trying to make sure you understand what I'm doing, and that it is correct.
Thanks again.

I think maybe you misunderstood. I meant create an alias to the iTunes folder that's inside the music folder of your main account. Put the alias inside the music folder of the SSL account.
eg. /users/SSL/Music/iTunes -> /users/Main User/Music/iTunes
eg. /users/SSL/Music/iTunes -> /users/Main User/Music/iTunes

where's your music folder stored? I would move the folder so it's at the root level of your hard drive (so it's at the same level as applications). Then set iTunes prefs on both users to that location.
If both your users are admins you can set the group permissions on the Music folder to admin so both users can read and write (if it's not already set).

actually, its not a good idea to store much in the root of your hd. the best place to store it (permissions wise) would be users/shared/ since the permissions are already set for that directory.

why isn't it a good idea? Permissions determine what files you can and can't access anyway. i've known a fair amount of people who've had to reset their permissions even in the users' shared directory.

when you repair permissions, you tell the os to set them back to default; ie root owns the root and users/shared/ is read/write for everybody

no. when you repair permissions (using apple's disk utility), it only repairs permissions from apps and files you've installed. specifically it looks up what to change in the /library/receipts/ folder. no permissions that you set (on files or folders that you've created) are modified. you can read it right from the horse's mouth: docs.info.apple.com
