I Might Add That I Play With MIX EMERGENCY WHEN LIVE But That Really Has Nothing To Do With My Issue With Adding New Files

Hi DJ SOUTH,

Sorry to hear your having problems with Scratch Live and Video-SL.

Could you please detail your full computer specs, hard drives and graphics card installed on your laptop.

Slow loading of crates could be a number of things from large library and crate structure to Smartware active Hard Drives, Possible Corrupt Database V2 file and the bigger file sizes when using MP4 files.

Could you describe what you mean here ? Did you import the NEW MP4 files from a folder on your hard drive into your Scratch Live library ( Subcrates ). Had these files been analyzed previously ? Was the status message at the bottom of the Scratch Live UI 'Writting TAGS' ?

Where did the files come from ? Are they all MP4 files or other video files also ?

Have you tried rebuilding your database V2 file ?

CREATING A NEW DATABASE V2 FILE; sera.to

Do you have Perian for MAC installed ? Download Perian here; perian.org

Perian is a free, open source QuickTime component that adds native support for many popular video formats. We recommend that all Video-SL users on MAC OS install Perian.

If you could let me know the extra details and try rebuilding your database V2 file and we'll take it from there.

Yes I Do Have Perian Installed (And Is Up To Date)

I Add My New Downloads (mp4) into their corresponding folders then open serrate (wait forever till it loads) Then Individually add the folder to the corresponding crates (let it scan add new files) But Process takes way to long their may b a problem in vsl 1.2 with the new 2.3.1 SSL And Also The 2.2.2 SSL
DJ SOUTH 3:23 AM - 18 October, 2011
I Also Might Add I Re-downloaded 2.2 and drive loaded quicker than 2.3.1 (which is the current download)

so i dunno what is going on but it seems like you guys are more worried about what else you can add to SSL And NOT MAKING IT STABLE (Like It Was In The Beginning)

I Am A Pure VIDEO DJ Now And I Will Not Go Back 2 Just Audio (Just Boring), And Im Getting Frustrated With Performance Lately.......

Hi DJ SOUTH,

Thanks for the extra information. There is always development work going on to remedy software BUGs and stability problems that surface.
The slow loading time may be due to an Out Of Memory error. How many Crates and SUB Crates do you have in your Scratch Live library ? Do you use your Serato History Folder ? If you don't use your Serato History Folder you could rename it History Folder OLD. Scratch Live will build a new History next time it is opened.
We have been working on the MP4 TAG LIB for Scratch Live and this should eliminate a lot of the problems users have been experiencing with MP4 corruption and re writing TAGS.
This will be released as a Scratch Live maintainence release very shortly.

You could also rebuild your Database V2 file if you haven't already.

Try these couple of things and let me know how you get on.

well i have upgraded the ram to 8gb from the 4gb that came with the 13" MBP
DJ SOUTH 11:21 PM - 18 October, 2011
i have deleted the Databse five and everything associated with scratchlive i have even started from scratch with uninstalling the program & folders and then reinstalling software and add my folders from start and what is weird is that for some reason when i have done that (4 times already) my samples in the first bank stays in the SP-6 (how is that possible)...

so i dunno what is going on......

and i am a serrate guru for a lot of production companies, friends and so forth as i am a dealer for Serato & Rane (Well The Store I Work @ "Sound & Lighting Solutions" In FTL) LOL

i just can not figure it out :(

Hi DJ SOUTH,

OK, the process of uninstalling and reinstalling will not have trashed the preference list and this is why you will still have remnants of your previous settings.

You can manually trash that file; com.Seratoscratchlive.plist

From here; USER>Library>Preferences

Let me know how you get on.
