a DJ 6:17 AM - 5 August, 2011
Lmao thanks I was wondering why I couldn't find that song haha
R-Tistic 2:27 AM - 10 August, 2011
Do y'all think any songs from KanJay Watch the throne will end up as club bangers? I don't think ANY song on there is meant for the club, but we know how fans are...they'll like hearing certain songs in the club just because of who it is
djpuma_gemini 2:37 AM - 10 August, 2011
Otis and that's it (maybe)
Ni**as in Paris goes hard though. I'd bump that shit in a hood spot.
djpuma_gemini 2:40 AM - 10 August, 2011
I remember when that yg bitches song came out and i hated it, but felli keeps playing it on the new@2.

J cole - work out is dope too, but doubt it will get airplay up here in seattle.
DJ Ness Nice 2:50 AM - 10 August, 2011
meek mills n ross-ima boss
french montana-shot caller
R-Tistic 2:50 AM - 10 August, 2011
I thought "Bitches ain't shit" was just iite, but they LOOOOOOOOOOVE it as a club song here, especially younger and hood crowds. I always do shit like start off with the original, and right after the drum sample from "Let's get small" at the intro, I drop in the new one.

Work out is def a coo early vibe song to me
StylesD 6:07 PM - 10 August, 2011
I played "Niggas in Paris" the other day at the club and it WENT
Dj K.Smith 6:09 PM - 10 August, 2011

I'm so sick of wobble wobble.
R-Tistic 9:09 PM - 11 August, 2011
Man the wild shit with "Wobble" is that it was on V.I.C.'s 2008 album along with "Get silly"....I remember the DJ playing it and doing that "hot or not" segment, n EVERYBODY said "not" but I actually dug the Go-Go type drums on it then.
DJ NoNseNse 5:59 PM - 12 August, 2011

Nowadays, I only play the PeteDown remix of "Otis" that has the Top Billin drums behind it...it has WAY MORE energy.

New T.I. "I'm flexin" Prod. by Big K.R.I.T. = !!!!!
Travis Porter ft Slim Dunkin - "Make that ass clap"
Young Jeezy - "Count it on the floor"
Waka Flocka Flame ft Travis Porter - "Clap"
Charlie Boy Gang - "Beef it up" - Regional but could blow up

"Beef it Up" is a must-play southern banger down here. A little old'ish but still gets plenty of requests.
I believe that Waka song is called "Round of Applause".

LOL...

I will say, for R&B/Rap, that "Only Wanna Give it To You" by Elle Varner went over well for me. It has that "Make the Music" Biz beat in the background.
Swizzle 6:41 PM - 3 October, 2011
Yeah, the young jerkers and catdaddiers seem to like Tyga - Rack City.

I normally don't like anything past 1999...but the ladies seem to be finally getting over "Down on Me" and are feeling Big Sean - Dance (A$$) along with the already mentioned T-Pain - Booty Wurk
a DJ 11:58 PM - 4 October, 2011
Some young people bay shit:
Tha Outfit - Like My Bass
LoveRance - Bounce On It
Kool John, IAMSU, Bobby Brackins, Skip, LoveRance, Smoovie Baby, Showbanga, Hollywood - Ass

R-Tistic pretty much covered it though, every time I think of something to add, it's on that list lol.
a DJ 12:02 AM - 5 October, 2011

Swaggin All Day - Kool John, Skipper, Love Rance, iamsu

Played that one at the end of the night at my Saturday gig last week... I like it. Wanted to announce it and give it a impact as people were getting ready to leave - hopefully it stayed in their heads on the way home (or to the booty call).

Gotta bang it in the set and see how it does...
R-Tistic 9:03 PM - 5 October, 2011
aDJ, LOL I got Bounce on it and Ass, haven't played it too much but they LOOOVE "Up" here. And I ALWAYS play "Like my bass" folks here love it even though nobody knows what it is. I will check "Swaggin all day"

A few more for y'all...

Uncle Murda - Warning
Ray J Ft. Rick Ross - Bananas

hey, has anybody noticed a complete extinction of 95-105 bpm hiphop tracks? is it just me, or do my crates exist of all 75-89bpm tracks??
deejayosa 12:56 AM - 12 October, 2011
I wouldn't say complete extinction but I can sorta agree with you.
R-Tistic 2:28 AM - 12 October, 2011
p.l.o....it's DEFINITELY Regional. The West Coast and probably East Coast still ahve plenty of 95-100. I notice that for us in L.A., when we get into the 95-100 nowadays, it's ALLLLLLLL West Coast songs in there. A few Texas songs like Ice Cream Paint Job and Get big were 88-90, and a few booty shakers like "Bend it ova" from 5th Ward Weebie....but yeah. The South stays in that 65-78 range, and we'll always be in that 90+.

For the L.A./CA songs, it's like this...
YG ft. Tyga and Nipsey - Bitches ain't shit - 92
E-40 - My shit bang - 100
Loverance - Up - 97
R.O.D. - I can't stand you - 95
Rossi - Out the door - 101
Tyga - Rack City - 99
YG - I'm good - 96
YG - Patty Cake - 89
Audio Push - Clap it up - 102
Audio Push - Throw it back - 106
Genasis - Jackie Chan -95
Ty$ - All Star - 96
Young Maestro ft. YG - Make it rock - 96
Cali Swag District - Back it up & dump it - 91
R-Tistic 2:28 AM - 12 October, 2011
And for the East Coast, of course "Otis" is 95, Fabolous 'Killin em" is 94, n those Ron Browz/Webstar type songs are always in that range too
Dj Shamann 3:07 AM - 12 October, 2011
No dis to anyone but if this was the "hot" stuff in my crates I would go postal. Just for fun I took a lot of this stuff, put it in a crate and then got picky with what I would see myself playing, it took 134 tracks (sorted by BPM) before I even broke the 100BPM mark. I can't imagine what I would do if I HAD to have this stuff (because I'm sure I could tack on another 100 or so to that 134)

This has nothing to do with any of you guys, just the redundancy of that many songs about patron in a cup would make me want to drink cyanide.
Dj Shamann 3:10 AM - 12 October, 2011
Quote:

What bothers me more I think is the extinction of 100-115 BPM in pretty much everything but Moombathon.

I noticed Timbo and Missy have been trying to bring back their old sound, which would fit in here but the few selections I've heard aren't really up to par.

a DJ 6:36 AM - 12 October, 2011
Co-sign on loving the new-jack swing/90s feel, in some rap but mostly R&B. And I was born in the 90s so I like the new 2000s shit too. Didn't that start with Jazmine Sullivan - Holding You Down? That was the first song I heard that I felt like was bringing that sound back.

From diff places...I heard "Up" when my boy I always work with played it, I don't know how he got it. I got the Rossi track from my boy in Florida who's from L.A....got "Can't stand you" from D-Sharp when I met him at Master of the mix auditions. I bought E-40's album n heard "Bad bitch" and "My shit bang" on there. I got "Bounce on it" and "Ass" from Youtube when I was watching "Up"...that's low key a great way to find songs too. If you go to a Youtube link, you'll see songs on the side that are similar.
R-Tistic 10:06 PM - 13 October, 2011

Here some new ones that been working for me in Southern California:

Marvin N' Chardonnay - Big Sean/Kanye West - goes big, why not sure?
Headlines - Drake - first Drake song that doesn't just drop the energy level to zero!
Good, Good Night - Roscoe Dash - this has serious potential to be club banger #1
Bad Woa - Audio Push - playing for a couple of weeks - BANGIN!!
Dedication to my Ex - Lloyd, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000 - gaining serious momentum..
Sexy & I Know It - LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem replacement..
Champagne Showers - LMFAO - other Party Rock Anthem replacement..
Turn this club around - R.I.O. U-Jean - fun fast song for the girls..

My crowd is 21-35 and could be described as mostly white with a small amount of the brothas to spice it up.

On a couple of tracks he's got kind of a Raphael Saadiq vibe too so that doesn't hurt.

Ayyyy what's the end of the night slow grind session looking like now? Well I know a lotta folks don't do it but we still get it in....right now, it's Motivation, Miguel Quickie, maybe Marsha "Late nights early mornings"...I need like 2-3 more to mix it up, but I usually take it back like "Pony"

At the end of the night I go back and forth each week btwn the new Grind stuff or the early 2000's r&b with my younger (21-25) crowd. Last week instead of the Motivations etc, I did a 93-100BPM of some 2000 R&B tracks that took the youngsters back to their pre-teens and teen years....and it worked. (I feel old)

Mario - Just A Friend
Pretty Ricky - On The Hotline
Usher - You Don't Have to Call
Dru Hill - In My Bed (Remix)
etc.

But like I said, it depends on how I'm feeling and reading the crowd. The above songs I'll even do at the Beginning of the Night sometimes too...because I actually enjoy spinning throughout the early parts of the 5+ hour and opening for myself. :)

What's weird is that about a month or so ago - somebody posted up a Jazzy Jeff mix where he did a Wordplay mix on Unbelievable by Biggie with R Kelly's - You Body's Calling (looped Unbelievable). For some reason, I have been playing R Kelly's - You Body's Calling now.

the new Drake album is better than expected judging the few tracks I have heard. and yes the sampling of 90s hiphop is very prevelant in todays music culture expect to see a lot more of it. If you want to experiment check out some moombahton they are so many 90s hiphop/rnb edits floating out there you will dig up some good sounding stuff

R-Tistic 10:48 AM - 10 November, 2011
Those drums def feel Reggae, I just caught that. I still got highly mixed feelings about this....I don't see it like "Ayy ladies" which I threw into rotation to a crowd who'd never heard it, and they were like "damn!!!!!" and dancin immediately. This one just seems like a gamble

Gaffle, that track is pretty much done now... The young bucks I come across don't feel it anymore...

That's cool. I may try playing it towards the end of the night here because most have never heard it. I remember seeing some girls singing the chorus on Ustream a long time ago. When I was looking the song up, all I kept finding was bootleg Youtube videos and poor quality mixtape rips online; thus, the reason I never pushed it.

I don't really get the hype with this motto song, and there isn't even a dance to it. It's funny when you play it everyone just kind of does something different.
djatrain@hotmail.com 6:25 AM - 8 December, 2011
They are catching on to it in Chicago, played it tonight and women were dancing to it. The beat is around Cat Daddy style. I guess that is the jerk, style or west coast ish.

+1. It's above 90bpms so that's a plus in my book. Why do the sheep need an official dance to something in order for it to click in the club? I like the song.

I thought it was the most idiotic song and couldn't believe the requests I got for it, even from females! It's one of those songs that'll get stuck in your head and you'll find yourself singing the hook in the car.

Yeah... let's steer this boat in the right direction. Any R&B or more civilized club tracks that are on hit right about now? Somebody already mentioned Rihanna's "Watch n' Learn". I started running that as soon as the album came out. I use it to segue into my reggae sets.

B.O.B. feat. Andre 3000 - "Play the Guitar" is getting a little radio play down here. I'm gonna try it in the club this weekend.
Future - "Same Damn Time" - It's another coon tune but it gets the crowd hype.
Wale - "Slight Work" - I've been running this and getting good response.

If you're running House music for an urban crowd, Drake feat. Rihanna - "Take Care" (Junior Sanchez Really Care's House Mix) is pretty good.

Hood tracks are the first ones to blow up. Then other places catch on. The motto is still kinda hot in urban clubs(more of a hood crowd), Downtown Chicago, a non hood crowd probably would not know what the hell it was. Wait another month and they will.

Drive around in the city of Chicago and cats are bumping new Rick Ross. In the suburbs they are bumping Otis like it is brand new.

Exactly...a lot of songs start off where only a few of us know, or only a few spots play them, then next thing you know, it's MAJOR.

I remember when I first heard Teach me how to Dougie in September of 09 at a random house party my boy DJ'd...and when I heard Cat Daddy at a club in October 2010 when the group (Da Rej3ctz) performed it...I immediately knew those would be hits, even though it took months to spread.

Here some stuff thats been working well lately in So Cal..

Ray Charles - Chiddy Bang (been working well last 2 wks..)
Bad Woa - Audio Push (absolute replacement "Jerk" song!)
Money On The Floor - Too Short/E40 (works every time..)
Faded - Tyga (all the new Tyga stuff is fire... BUT its all around 96-98 bpm tho..)
Rack City - Tyga (still has em clappin..)
Make It Nasty - Tyga (it's nasty alright...& it works!)
Stupid Hoe - Nicki Minaj (It's starting to work here... CRAZY drums in it..)
Close To Me - Benny Benassi (Just a solid song that people don't know but like alot..)
One Day - LMFAO (FIRE! lookout the place is on fire..in a good way..)
Turn Me On - David Guetta/Nicki Minaj (starting to go...)
Hangover (Hardwell Remix) - Taio Cruz (stop your grinnin' and drop yo linen!!)
Strip - Chris Brown (Yup! the girls love it, and the dudes feeling it as well..)
Young, Wild n' Free - Snoop/Wiz Khalifa (Biggest everybody in the club singing track in a while now....)

Oh and we have a SERIOUS lack of decent music to play from 110-120 bpm at the moment......

Seattle and the people and radio are numb to new shit.
Our urban station hasn't played the motto yet. I've heard the beat of it on during talking, but it takes a few months for stuff to hit up here.
It's more of a Top 40/Dance crowd up here.
I played ni99as in paris after having the floor filled with the stupid shuffle and half of them left the floor.
Some crowds are ok with some hood stuff, but that spot was a casino gig so you gotta watch what you play.
WhattaMac 12:29 AM - 29 January, 2012
@djpuma

Lmao -- "Stupid Shuffle" it's funny because I play in two different locations, one in a hip (mostly white - with a couple a brothas) bar in Huntington Beach, CA and the other in a not-so hip bar in San Clemente, CA.. Exact same thing happens in the not-so hip bar... with the exact same songs... From the stupid shuffle to Ni99as in paris to almost a dead floor... Yep know exactly what ya mean.. The hip bar in H.B. drop Ni99as and you get a cheer.. Wouldn't dare drop the Stupid Shuffle there... You would get a look...
djpuma_gemini 12:41 AM - 29 January, 2012

I'm old, what can i say... lol
DJ GaFFle 1:30 AM - 31 January, 2012
For Southern (Hood) crowds:
"Snapbacks and Tattoos" - Driicky Graham (For all my skrippaz)
"Cashin' Out" - Cash Out (Good track)
"Make Me Proud" - Drake (Big Ghost Chronicles guessed this one right, LOL)

For R&B:
"Make Your Move" - Teyana Taylor feat. Wale (I'm gonna try this this weekend)
"Strip" - Chris Brown
"Love on Top" - Beyonce (Most of the ladies still love it... gotta play the whole song)
"Watch and Learn" - Rihanna (I usually transition into Reggae with this one]
DJ GaFFle 1:40 AM - 31 January, 2012
^^^ ... correction... I didn't mean Good Track for Cashin' out.
DJ Remy USA 1:42 AM - 31 January, 2012

I'll at least preface my list with the region or genre the song fits in so you can just skip them all together. I actually don't like a lot of the Southern rap but I am in ATL so you gotta play for your crowd. I can't stomach too much of those crappy pop tunes either. They are really all starting to sound the same to me...

That's wild, I don't know if my crowd would go for Snoop n Wiz but I can definitely see it working, especially for mixed and college crowds. And dude, how did Tyga take this shit over like he did???

T.I. - "Popped Off" feat. Dr. Dre got re-released and is also getting radio shine here. Not sure if it will work for the club. I played a snippet of it at the end of the night last Friday and some folks danced to it.

oh yes it works and it will be a banger for the urban crowds, if it doesnt pop Im done with rap music in clubs....lol This is the best feel good rap track out right now

So is it the same exact version? He rapped it from Dre's eyes, and there was no Dre rap since it was a reference track
R-Tistic 10:41 PM - 11 February, 2012
What's good with the Rick Ross mixtape songs? It feels like he has a lot of songs on that same BMF vibe, not many of them are standouts that I think will make club noise though.

And that Meek Mill "Lean wit it" is DOPE to me

Ayyyyy, I found the African Booty Jerkin track!!!!!

Tay F. 3rd - Mailman Mailman

He was one of the main Jerkin artists, probably the biggest right before YG took off, then he almost completely fell off the face of the earth out here

Here some more stuff that has been working in SoCal:

Faded - Tyga (Works well, hes pretty much killing the whole 95-100 BPM range)
F.M.S. (Freak My Sh*t) - New Boyz (couple of plays last weekend, goes good..)
Blake Griffin - Young Lott/Dorrough (Typical Dorrough sounding - not bad tho..)
Strange Clouds - B.o.B. /Lil Wayne (Going HARD!!!!)
Vans On - T. Mills (Wait and see track, but decent crowd response..)
House Party - Meek Mill/Young Chris (People yellin' "Meet me in tha bathroom.. WORKS!!
Shot Caller - French Montana/Charlie Rock (so far so good but may fade quickly)
Pixelated People - Jess Mills (Pretty solid pop-electro dance song that no one knows but dance to...)
Changed The Way You Kiss Me - Example (Banger , everytime I play it, got people asking who it is..) d

By the way if you watched the Grammy's last night...

Bruno Mars - going all James Brown but doing a damn decent job!!
Chris Brown - C'mon man your BET performance was WAY better and that club track musically good but what a whole lotta really "off" lip non-syncing... And Lil Wane was horrible...
Adele - hate to say it but real talent and being able to sing without auto tune is why she won 6 grammys... Deserved it.
Alicia Keys/Bonnie Raitt - See above Adele comment.. Young stellar Alicia vocals with Bonnie old dirty vocals, nice!
Maroon5 /Foster The People - Beach Boys time to retire, both these bands can do your vocals -- In the case of F.T.P. - holy crap its a damn good thing these guys were providing the vocals while the geezers were playing...

Oh yeah, the best new Artist shoulda gone to: J. Cole ---Who in the hell is this other guy?????

Nicki Minaj - what the F*CK was that??? Horrible song (song used loosely), Frankenstein meets Stephen King on the set of the Thriller video shoot?? Really Bad.... If ya gonna be a rapper - do that.. PLEASE don't try to "sing" cause you can't...

I mean, they're all same lane....and Tay may have got better, but for real, Eastside step??? LMAO...when I first played that for my boy Qwess and told him to play it for a teen party, he said "man, you sure???? This is really what they like???" I JUST now heard this song. My homegirl called me last weekend asking who made it because she hates it so much (meaning she loves it) and my boy called last night saying he heard it twice on the radio, and thought it was a Tyga song since they put him on the remix and they played that version of it. It sounds like straight 2009 Jerkin.

Damn I haven't heard this one, I was thinkin it was the one with the beatbox behind it, I wasn't fuckin with that one at all

That song's BEEN working for the ladies (or at least the ones with some class).

This is not a great remix, totally out of key. Ted Smooth has some hits & misses and this is one of those slight misses. The Keezo instrumental is dope but seems forced when coupled with Beyonce's vocals. The video helps but w/o it, my ears heart.
DJ Remy USA 12:18 PM - 5 March, 2012
^^^^ exactly my feelings on the Ted Smooth remix. It starts off good with the sample in the beginning but when the beat comes in everything just kinda goes off. My ears dont agree with it either

Isn't this song 2 or 3 years old? Talk about bad distribution and promotion.
djpuma_gemini 4:07 PM - 5 March, 2012
I put love on top in my latest mix and finally grabbed the video. I definitely am feeling the beat but haven't dropped it up in Seattle yet.

Love Tyga - faded, (put it on a mix, but haven't played it out yet)

Nicki Minaj starships will be/is a huge track

Reading the songs here, and going to a mixed club in Santa Monica (Zanzibar) on Saturday, it's wild to see how much different the Rap is that's played in Mixed spots vs. the Black spots.

For newer tracks, songs like "Strange cloud," the Ike Nice "I get it in," Childish Gambino, and a few others will only be on the Mixed spots. While some of the Waka, Future, and mixtape Tyga/YG type songs only get played in Black clubs. It seems to be similar nationwide too...where the MAIN main tracks like "Motto" and "N's in Paris" will get played at every type club, but some songs only end up on one side. Regional differences count too...so you'll hear some of the post-Jerkin songs at mixed clubs in L.A., same way you might hear more Future/Waka at a mixed ATL club.

Yep thats why my dj clique isnt 5 guys who all play to the "hood"

I make sure to keep in contact with the guy who is just ahead in his one special genre and swap ideas with him, with him knowing ill be sharing that with the other 3-4 guys...but they really dont play in each others lanes. Then no matter where I go...uber trendy and hip, mixed and mainstream, the "I Thinks" ( my term for the poser crowd who dont know they are really just mainstream dressed different ) or straight to the block and hood crwod...i always have at least half the newest ready to blow tracks and almost all the primetime bangers.

People have started to pick up on it when they see me pop from behind the decks like yo even yo voice is different on differnet nights lol

my nitch is doing both sides of rap, but most people in dallas are too scared to play hood tracks or the mgmt wont let them (in mainly white/mixed clubs). went to a meeting about djing and some new mgr. and he asked about me playing rick ross. i was like 13 yr old girls in suburbs listen to that shit. he disapproved. sitll got the gig. pays to know the boss.

yes, it's gonna be a big club record

@StylesD called it in early August...I was definitely doubting it back then, wasn't even halfway considering playing it, and it became the biggest song and NYE track for most folks, SMH @ my judgement!

I might test out that Nas "The don" track tonite....it has that Swizz or "A Milli" type thing with the repeated vocal throughout, but drums cut thru hard and Nas gets in it. I figure it might not work right away, but if it starts picking up it will. I think the East Coast would love it immediately

It's a L.A./West Coast thing, but I NEEEEEVER play remixes of West Coast hits that have non West Coast artists LOL...a lot of us don't. So I NEVER played the 50 Cent version of "Bitch" (E-40) or "Buzzin" (Mann), and I never play the remix to "Rack city"..so it's the same with "Up."

That and Rack City listed as local LA/Cali bangers . Also the person who started the thread was on point with most of the original list. Up by loverrance is getting some mixshow and early radio play here in Detroit.

I've dropped it early at the club a few times with mixed results.

That Original post was Aug 2011 - definately Time for a new Bangers thread - anybody want to throw up a few predicitions?
