My VCI-300 MKII right platter is not functioning correctly. I have played with adjusting the sensitivity levels, by turning off the scratch button, moving the sensitivity from low to high and vice versa several times, then finding the perfect sensitivity which allows me to stop the platter when applying gentle force.
The issue is that when I find a comfortable sensitivity level, I press down on the platter which in scratch mode causes the track to stop but when I attempt to scratch or search through the track by moving the platter (keeping two or three fingers on the platter) there are momentary skips where it stops detecting my hand on the platter and the song will play for a second at a time making scratching or juggling almost impossible. Not only this, but if I do manage to scratch a song, while my scratch lengths remain the same, the song file slowly but surely start moving backwards, sometimes with small movements and others quite quickly, yet my scratch movement on the platter has remain the same.
I cannot and refuse to send it into a repair center because I have gigs weekly and I am in Australia which means that my only option would be to take my VCI300 back to the retailer where I purchased it from and them shipping it to yourselves for repair. This process is surely going to take at least 2 months which is not an option. Keep in mind it is only the right platter!
If it is a hardware issue, I will ask Vestax to refund the money when I take it back to the retailer I purchased it from and i'll purchase another more sturdy unit such as the NS6 or DDJ-S1. I've had a decksaver on both my VCI300MkII and VFX1 so dust is not an issue, when not in use at a venue, it has been kept in a travel backpack. I've had the unit since Sept '10 so it is still within 12 months warrenty. I will not even consider opening the unit therefore avoiding the warranty I have on the unit.
My issue is similar to shown in this video posted by another user: Watchwww.youtube.com
Please advise on you best course of action, given that I have already tried the following:
- Sensitivity adjustment
- Closed any other application that was open
- Turned off bluetooth/wifi
- Loaded Itch before connecting the unit
- Making sure the USB is plugged into the preferred USB port
Thank you.

While waiting for a response, i've been looking into perhaps purchasing a DDJ-S1 as a backup unit. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but if I purchase a DDJ-S1, install Itch ver1.8, i'm going to have issues from switching between use between the DDJ-S1 and VCI300 MKII given the different itch versions?

Hi Raef,
Sorry for the slow response. It sounds like this is an issue with your unit as it shouldn't stop detecting your hand on the platter if you have correctly calibrated this. I would check the article here:
serato.com
and give this one more try before I would put this down to a hardware fault though.
Getting in touch with the local Vestax distributor would be the best option. You can find contact details here:
service@musiclink.com.au
or their support site here:
www.musiclink.com.au
If you are wishing to use a Pioneer DDJ-S1 you will have no issues switching between hardware units. ITCH 1.8.1 will support both controllers :)
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Sam.

Hey Samuel,
I've already tried caliberating the platter, but when i'm touching the platter isn't an issue, it's when I start to scratch or moving the platter that causes the platter to not recognize my hand.
Any other suggestion apart from getting in contact with my local Vestax distributor who will ship off my unit and I won't be able to use it for the next 2 months or opening the unit myself?
Where can I download Itch 1.8.1 without purchasing the DDJ-S1? (I'd like to try out both units, my vci 300 at home and ddj at the store before purchase to make sure they both work)

I would recommend trying it out on another computer to make sure it is a hardware issue. Other than that if it is still not recognizing your touch when scratching etc then you will need to get in touch with the distributor so you can either get your unit repaired or replaced.
You can download ITCH 1.8.1 here:

Cheers,
Sam.
