Hi, Just bought Serato SL3 and when i plug in my ac power supply it causes an interferance through the speakers. If i unplug it and run on battery the problem goes away. Also the power supply does not power the box, no light comes on?

My laptop is a Dell Studio 1555 with a Pentium Dual Core T4300 @2.10 Ghz

Ok so I have just loaded Scratch live to my desk top computer and it works ok. But this is no good for djing out. Any Ideas? will a ground loop isolator work?

Also my Sl3 power supply makes a static sound when plugged into the unit and does not light up!!! grrrr

Do you have the power source for the laptop plugged into the same powerstrip as the rest of your DJ equipment?

Have you tried screwing off the 2 prong connection on the SL3 power supply and then putting it back on? Maybe its loose....

It sounds like you have a feedback loop in your setup.

Try plugging your computer, your SL3, and your mixer into one power strip that is then going into one power outlet on the wall.
Don't connect anything else to either the power strip or to any of the devices plugged into the power strip.
Using headphones, see if you hear this same buzz when you plug in the SL3's power supply.
If not, then you definitely have a feedback loop in your setup.
To remedy a feedback loop you'll want to make sure everything in your setup is plugged into the same power outlet on the wall.
ie. don't plug your speakers into one outlet and your dj rig into another.
Everything should be powered by the same outlet.

Let me know your findings:)

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply...

I have tried what you suggested above and just had connected to the same power strip

My laptop and my dj mixer with the sl3 and am still getting the same problem when i play a track back listening through my headphones. As soon as i unplug the AC powersupply for my laptop it clears the distortion. My other DVS never had this problem with the same setup?

Any other tests i can do? I ran it through my desktop and it worked ok... no good for djing out :-(

As well as the above problem, where can you buy SL3 power supplies as mine does not power the box (seperate issue)

Does this problem happen even when you do not use the power source for the SL3?

Does the problem also happen if you connect the power source to the laptop to a completely different outlet (preferably on the other side of the room)?

Ok Sorry, I misread Zach's advise... And still had my turntables connected to the SL3 unit on the above test.

So i have rerun the test with just the Laptop, Mixer and SL3 (via usb) and it worked fine with the AC power plugged in :-)

I next plugged in the amp, still ok.
I plugged in the right hand deck to power supply and SL3, still ok.
I plugged in the left hand deck to power supply and SL3, still ok.

So i now have it running ok! weird?

I have turned it all off and will try a few more times, is it best to power up the equipment first them laptop or vis versa?

If i did get a ground loop isolator where would you fit it? on the output of the mixer to the amp?

Hopefully my only issue now is the SL3 power supply that does not work and where to get one?

Thanks again

It shouldnt matter, but its probably best to connect everything together and then power up.

You really want to avoid this but it would go between your mixer and the amplifiers.
