I know u might have heard about the hype bout ME but to honest.. If u want a betta video experience then ME is a betta bet.. I have a ttm as well and All i can say is add a midi controller like the korg nanocontrol and ur good to go.. betta features, more flexiable with the way u go go from transition to transition and efx with the push of one button. the ability to split the screens so u dont have to ur library cover. more of a stable program with less stress on ur system customiziable list of efx and transition, need I say more..other then the limitation with VSL

Quality has nothing to do with vsl its all in the video and where u get it from. Its go be funny when serato release vsl 1.3 with all these upgrades for free. True M.E has them now for $179 more on top of $199. I have yet to see a club video dj go effects crazy. I use about 3 effects at my current spot and I get that look like wth. So I do all night with no effects.

yea, i don't have time for effects craziness.
i used to play with a buddy and he would knob tweak the hell out of the effects for me.

next development should be automatic effects load and automatic parameter setting changes.

ooh wait...i think ME does have auto load for effects. seems i recall setting them up or something.
i would be surprised if vsl didn't already have it.

I would say that 90% of my videos are from xtendamix, about 5% from Smashvidz and the rest is from PO, Strictlhits and Itunes. The videos looks out standing on my Mac, when I send to an external source is when the quality goes down. Well i should clarify when I run them through Serato to an external source the quality goes down. When i run straight from my Mac to an external source the quality is still as good as on the Mac. Serato is doing something to degrade the video's quality.

i just did a picture quality test and it doesnt matter on what quality i have vsl, ME looks slightly better! which makes me happy, im buying a cake today!!

On ME, i think everyone runs at 100%
everyone I know does anyways.

I use to run it on Medium like the board suggests but I ran on High last weekend. I can't switch to best, it slows my computer down drastically.

Ok, I finally picked up ME...Well I was suppose to be at work at 9am, I downloaded ME about 8:15am, it is now 11:15 and I am just leaving for work. I dont even know where to begin, the picture is clearer, the audio to video sync is amazing, the random transitions, the ability to set the scratch point in ME without messing with my 57. The ability to split my preview screens and place them where I want. Man this thing is crazy, I can not wait to get off work to record a few things. I feel like the guy with the 8tracks while every one been using CDs. I cant wait for the next gig, I am reborn...lol

VSL tells you not to set your videos to high because it will tax your system. So your videos are running at medium in VSL. I am running at high or 100% on ME without a glitch and it is a noticeable difference. When I run VSL in High, the audio is not in sync with the video and my wave form flutter. To each is own, I honestly hope VSL does a great job with 1.3, I am still a fan of VSL(Sorta) not hating on them I am just impatient.

i like guitar center over sam ash.

sam ash = not friendly, not the best deal, have not worked with me on pricing, pain in the ass when i have had returns.

guitar center = NEVER paid list price or the price on the tag ever, they go out of their way to find what i need or make sure they have it, returns and exchanges are a breeze. (maybe cuz they know i have spent well over $20,000 and bought at least 6 ttm57 from them, maybe cuz they get commission).

+100, I needed a Eclipse laser light for a wedding, the guy let me buy the display model at a reduced cost and then said when the new ones come in that I can return it for the new one, Over a month passed and I got a call saying the new lights came in, I brought back the old one and he gave me the new one in the box. But your right if your not asking for a deal or the people their should know you as a regular customer, that helps alot.

only thing I can't figure out is how to keep the Mixemergency task bar (top of window) from showing up every time I switch transition or adjust parameters. Not a big deal, but kind of a pain to have to click SSL again to make it go away.

hey, thanks for the reminder. i need to rework my midi.

i think what i am going to do, if i don't get too lazy or distracted by my short attention span (as usual), is setup my dicers to do whatever i can with ME.

there are 15 possibilities with each dicer. 5 are taken up by cues, my looping is mapped to the joysticks of a 57 and fk loop roll. if you use loop roll you probably use it the wrong way,it's just a simple fact. i have heard ONE person use loop roll correctly, ONE.

so anyway...that leaves about 10 empty slots per dicer, 20 over all.
dicers are freaking brilliant. if they had tiny knobs too, it would be insane.

oh yea, that's right.
i rarely have my task bar pop up. it's only when i have the control or some aspect down near the bottom edge that i see it.

don't forget that you can move the taskbar around to different sides of your desktop.
i have it set to auto hide unless the cursor moves to the edge. maybe that is why i rarely see it too.

I highly recomend the x1 or a simular midi controller.

being able to control the transition wet/dry in real time is an amazing asset alone.
(IE, not goin to the keyboard and such)

I pop through 3-5 diferrent transitions in 1 mix now dependent on whats happing
in the track.

wow. i have not messed with the midi since beta.

you don't need knobs anymore. this is awesome, like stupid rad awesome.

in the advanced midi section you can set it to Note On Toggle, Analog, Increment, Decrement, Increment/Decrement, Hold Increment, Hold Decrement.
everybody wanted a bypass button before, with Note on Toggle it's either all in or all out.
i am not sure if it's possible but they may need a Hold Increment/Decrement. the current setup while dope and what i have been waiting for forces Increment and Decrement to 2 buttons. not a big deal, 20 extra buttons on a dicer, i think i can find a spot.



ME was dope before but damn. this is brilliant. i loooove this freaking program.
and to all those that say "the VSL beta testers are laughing at you ME people right now", suckit. because the rest of us are doing nothing but laughing at you, hysterically...g'luck catching up to ME, g'fking luck, the amount of things i dont know in this program crushes everything in vsl.
and even if VSL can catch up all i have to say is "Then do it!! All talk and no results don't mean Chit."

Anyone exporting their mixes to edit in Vegas? Which export settings are u using? I get an error with the uncompressed avi for some reason. DV is next best for windows editing?

if you want to edit further in a nle, you would want uncompressed avi. the settings should be:

Preset: Custom
Export: Movie to AVI
Video: None, 29.97, Millions+
Audio: None, 48, 16, Stereo

uncompressed avi works for me. if it doesn't for you, try movie to quicktime movie (compression type: none). premier can import mov files, so i don't see why vegas can't.

thx Nyce, the mov worked fine... I had problems with some h264 mp4 files previously, so assumed mov wouldn't work either

However, the more I learn about quartz compositions and the overlay features, I think I can do without having to drop into an editor before using it as a demo mix

OK so I played with ME and is liking it a lot. moving the screens is dope and the random effects is awesome. My video's are clearer and its runs smooth. its only $179 so fork it. ME here I come.

Hey Everyone. I viewed this post and didnt see my answer so a little help please. I also was refered to M.E. and its sweet but it seems to be bogging down my serato. I run serato with minimal latency. My system should be strong enough. Its a MBP 2.53 g with 8 gigs of ram but the waveforms and circles get choppy. I thought that would be more then enough so....what should I do?

Adjust the buffer.. That worked for me

In ME when I load a song without video it plays the last video that was loaded which usually looks crazy, how do I turn that off. Also how do I link a song to a photo or have my logo show while playing. Thanks

Mix Emergency > Preferences > Advanced
under "When an unlinked audio file is loaded" in the drop down menu, choose "Load media from Media Bank"
don't forget to load media into the Media Bank.

i haven't tried linking any song to any particular video so i have no answer to the second question.

so you want specific songs linked to specific logos?
if so, i have no idea since i do not do it.

post in the inklen support forums. they will have an answer fairly quickly.

you can't link overlays to songs. you can save them as presets and midi map the presets button.

so you would save four different logos in slots 1-4. midi map 1-4 to your midi controller and now you can turn any logo on/off.

you can also save effects, transitions and text overlays as presets.

right next to the efx list there are 2 tabs... click the lower tab and use the eject button.. That's how I do it

i had/have a smilar problem with a MBP of similar specs (13in) and i have a feeling it has to do with my graphics card. i haven't tried running ME + SSL on a laptop with a dedicated graphics card so i can't really confirm.

i just learnt to deal with it and it's kinda a blessing as i have gone back to mixing 98% of the time by ear seeing as the waveforms are kinda laggy!

Xplyct, I have the one w the video card and I still get the lag, its OK tho I only use ear. I just like the smoothness of the screen and it makes me feel' like my CPU will crash lol. My friend told me to lower the latency but I need my vinyl responsive so Im just not doing video lol looks like my ram upgrade didn't help. Thanks for the responce :-)

Loving my Mix emergency, but when will they be able to play Karoake. Virtual DJ has it already.

I was told that lag could also be caused by your laptop heating up without enough cooling. I've been getting spurts of lag and my MBP is a i7 w/ 8GB RAM powerhouse. Tried playing around with the buffer settings, but no help. I installed an fan control app and have it set to spin faster when I do video thus to cool the laptop more. This has helped reduce my lag for most cases.

Its strange, I've been giging with videos lately and I haven't had a problem live. The heat makes since since at home I get lag when my MBP is on a shelf and at the gig I'm using the crane stand which provides ventilation. ME has been working great for me and my latency is at 1. Glad its working for both of us! Now if only Itch would perform better lol.

Hmmm the i7 has lag, thats good to know, cuase if I would have paid $2400 for a new 17" mac book and it operated the same I would have went ballistic.

ME will record your video set.

I use telnet Screen Flow it records awesome but it cost 99 bucks

And you use it in other applications like tutorial videos and recording movies etc

With that I haven't felt the need to jump to mix emergency
