Hi djtate,

Are you using an external hard drive to store music? If so, does SSL open as expected when the external is disconnected? Please give it a try to help narrow down the problem a bit :)
djtate 5:08 PM - 3 March, 2011
no, i am using an internal 500 7200rpm drive.

Cool, thanks for the info :)

It sounds like you need to rebuild the databaseV2 file.

Here's how -->> serato.com <<-- Creating A New Database V2 File

Please let me know if that does the trick.
djtate 5:25 PM - 3 March, 2011
i did that as well and same result.

Bummer :(

Please try this:

Exit SSL

Open the _Serato_ folder within your home/user Music folder and rename the History folder to OLD_History

Restart SSL and retest

Any luck?
djtate 6:38 PM - 3 March, 2011
yea cut 20 seconds out the the time, thats good.

Shaun W 8:37 PM - 3 March, 2011
Cool :) Can you roll with it like it is then?
djtate 4:05 AM - 4 March, 2011
nope, i see others loading up their libraries in instant on fashion and in windows that use to happen, now its just unbearable.

Shaun W 5:27 PM - 4 March, 2011
How long does SSL take to load your library now? Please keep in mind that load times between different library will be different depending on the amount of music, crates and etc that SSL is needing to process.
djtate 5:49 PM - 4 March, 2011
i have 30000 plus files, whats the average would that take?

As long as is needs to take ;)

If you open your User Music folder, is there a _Serato_ folder and a ScratchLIVE folder located inside?
djtate 12:09 AM - 5 March, 2011
no there isnt.

Shaun W 12:55 AM - 5 March, 2011
It sounds like we'll need to do a bit of exploratory surgery on your _Serato_ folder files.

How many crates do you have within your Scratch Live library?
djtate 1:55 AM - 5 March, 2011
344.
djtate 7:37 PM - 7 March, 2011
the thing is, when i had a windows machine it would load in no time, if 30 seconds thats a long time. now since moving to the mac it has increased dramatically on a faster machine.

Perhaps something isn't translating properly between the Mac and PC.

Please list the files and folders found within the _Serato_ folder. There may be something inside your folder that your Mac isn't liking.

Good idea, thanks :)

Quick question, are you having SSL read your iTunes Library? If so, turn off the "read iTunes library" option within the setup screen Library tab and see if it has any affect.
djtate 11:22 PM - 8 March, 2011
no it was off. never turned it on until couple days ago but its off. and no change. neither slower nor faster.
djtate 11:23 PM - 8 March, 2011
wouldnt it be best i send u my v2 file?
djtate 11:35 PM - 8 March, 2011
yup. just loaded my library on my windows laptop and booted up in under 40 seconds. same library, (just copied the serato folder over)

No thanks, we've already rebuilt the file and I do not suspect it as being the cause.

Very interesting!

Let's try this:

Close SSL

Go into your User Music folder

Locate and rename the _Serato_ folder to OLD_Serato_

Restart SSL, did it open empty? If so, close Scratch Live and go back into your User Music folder.

Scratch Live should have created a new _Serato_ folder

Open the OLD_Serato_ , copy the Subcrates folder and paste it into the newly made _Serato_ folder

Restart SSL and allow the library to load (it may take a while as SSL rebuilds the databaseV2 file)

After SSL finishes loading, retest your system

Any luck?

Just posted :)
djtate 12:17 AM - 9 March, 2011
sorry didnt see it, i did that, and the time was very slow back to as usual, so the problem is in how many crates i got?
Rane, Support
Shaun W 12:20 AM - 9 March, 2011
Have you closed SSL and reopened since doing the copy/paste thing?
djtate 5:45 AM - 9 March, 2011
yup, slow as usual, i dont understand, faster loading in 1.9 as well
Rane, Support
Shaun W 6:02 PM - 9 March, 2011
Please confirm that the version of SSL installed displays 2.2 at the bottom left corner of the setup screen.

Try this:

Open SSL

Open the Library tab within the setup screen.

Move the album artwork size slider all the way to the left.

Close SSL and retest

Any luck?

If not, go back into the library tab and turn off the "Include Subcrate tracks" option and retest. Any luck?
djtate 7:22 PM - 10 March, 2011
samething, i not sure whats going on, it loads faster in 1.9

I am able to reproduce the problem on both Mac and PC. You have over 2000 crates, which may have something to do with it.

but why does it load faster in 1.9 than 2.0? buy a whole minute?

Hi everyone, just letting you know that we've reproduced this problem on both Mac and PC, the startup time for huge libraries has jumped up considerably between version 1.9.2 and 2.0 (and following versions).

We're looking for a solution now and hope to have this fixed soon, thank you for your patience in the meantime...
djtate 11:47 AM - 14 March, 2011

I was also able to duplicate the issue and looked for a workaround, but with out any luck, sorry.

The good new is, as Andy said, this is being worked on and should be fixed soon :)

Thanks Andy!

Correct, sorry this was meant to be a hidden post.

This is awesome news, I also suffer from this problem. I had recovered from a failed drive, the recovery made a million sub-directories and i just dragged the root folder to serato. I assumed that was the problem, but think differently now.

This bug also increases delete times also.
