As we all know, Christchurch New Zeland has been hit by a
terrible earthquake. To help New Zelanders and Serato and there freinds and
family, I am willing to donate a pair of White vinyl to serato so they can hold
another auction.I am asking all forum members with the resources at there disposal
to join me in donating any Serato related items that would help.
If enough people help, we will foward this thread to Brigid at serato.
Keep them in you're prayers, and lets rally and help out.
God bless New Zeland and all its people.

Great idea Roman!!!!!! I'm willing to donate a pair of Tangerine and Emerald Green King Breaks. I hope we (Serato CV Collectors) use this unfortunate circumstance as an opportunity that finds us ready to step up and help out!!!

donating hard to find serato vinyl is as good as cash,
plus it will bring awareness to the cause, and this is what Serato held last
time there was a disaster, only difference is we want to donate the vinyl,
instead of them digging it out of there vault
there is nothing to get excited about except helping those in need
65+ people los there lives, not to mention all the injuries and lost homes
and business, these peoples lives are changed forever.
this is nothing more than a goodwill gesture,
by the way, what did you two donate?

I can respect that. However, they need help NOW. Not in 7 or 5 days when the auction ends plus the time it will take to organize and ship the vinyl, NOW.

It's not my personal practice to give to any cause then say - "look at me, this is what I have done".. That's a bit egotistic - don't ya think..
Good intentions? I guess... But it came across as excitement for another auction - rather then genuine concern..with all this talk about "serato freaks" and the "color" vinyl your going to donate.. No solemness conveyed..
But if that's your way of helping then fine... No arguement on my part..

Let me offer this perspective and alternate point of view: the money raised from someone DONATING control vinyl may far exceed cash they might be able to AFFORD to give.
I appreciate the dialogue but find it difficult to read comments that appear to dismiss peoples' attempt to do what they can to help

Sending vinyl around the world is wasting time and money, that makes no sense.
That's money you could've donated right away.
If you want to donate money from a vinyl sale, sell it at donate the money.

we do not have anything set in stone, we are just seeing how many donations
we can gather, than foward this to brigid, and see if the are interested in getting involved
no sense in contacting serato with no committments for a donation
and yes there is a better way than shipping everything to N.Z
and then shipping back to the auction winner
it is a small obstacle that can be overcome
thanks feniks for coming on board, that would be a nice addition to the auction

Hey guys,
Feniks and Roman both sent me a message and pointed me to this thread.
It's incredible that you guys would all give up rare vinyl for another auction to help Christchurch. The support we got the first time around was phenomenal, and it's seriously cool that you've started this thread in anticipation of another one.
However, the circumstances are quite different this time around. Last time, while there was damage, we were lucky enough to have no casualties.
This time, the earthquake has devastated the city, and as a result, we've lost quite a few friends/fellow countrymen. We've talked about it in the office, and decided against holding another auction.
Instead, we will be contributing a donation from the company privately, and spreading the word to other people on how to donate.
If you can't afford to donate, spreading the message about how to donate helps just as much. The Red Cross is the best place to send money, but as that site has been getting a lot of traffic, here are a list of places you can donate (all of which will be sent to the Red Cross):
www.redcross.org.nz
www.oxfam.org.nz
www.grabone.co.nz
Thanks again for the support, it's been a tough time for NZ and the support we've received from nations around the world has been amazing. We really appreciate it.

ninos, imallama, rob, feniks has an idea that would work, we just need to figure out the selling part now
and then we could donate the proceeds
what do you think?
i have donated via red cross, but rob has it down, the vinyl would be more than the cash i can give, so still willing to donate my time and some more of my collection
and then we could donate the proceeds

Maybe if we could get pics of everything that is for auction. I'd be willing to post the eBay auctions. Items would be shipped directly from original owners to the winners to avoid having to conglomerate the entire collection.
