You would map it just as you would any other MIDI device. In the easiest way this would be clicking the MIDI button, clicking a function in Scratch Live and then wiggling the controller or button on the controller. Do this until you have mapped everything that you need to.

As i show on the instructions, mapping the platters of my midi it's impossible. Some users in the forum made it work succesfully with some tricks. I will try and I'll let you know the final results.
But I was wondering...why don't you (serato group) make the denon mc 6000 native player????? I know many many dj's here in Greece that they have the same problem with this controller, and i've seen many people discussing in many international forums about the same thing.... Why Serato doesn't release an official firmaware of making denon mc-6000 works natively with SSL3 HARDWARE.
DENON MC-6000 is probably the best midi controller right now, Why don't use it natively with the certified BEST HARDWARE which is SSL3?????
I have 2 cdj-400 now but as a mobile Dj I want something more compact.

But mainly this was designed for other software, so has extraneous features on the device that would make things difficult to get the mapping right (hence why users can map it to suit their needs).

Saying this, we are always willing to offer support if enough users request this (as it takes a lot of development time and takes this time away from other features, so there needs to be the demand there). You can put a feature request in here: serato.com

I have another question, why did you guys pick the MC6000 over the Vestax MKII??

I have the Vestax VCI (1st version) and I don't like the following things about it.

Only one 1/4" Microphone input
No XLR microphone input
Very bad microphone sound
Bad EQ
No XLR outputs
No VSL on Itch

Regarding VCI-300
- no input lines!!!!!!!!!!
- bad sound in general
- VERY low output gain
- slow jog wheels when you use the wheels for pitch bend control
- no booth output!!!!!!!!!!!
- works only connected on pc / Denon works as an analog 4 channel mixer without pc connected.

I have also a VCI-300 but I keep it only for small party's like christenings or child's party.
when I go out for serious job I use scratch live 3 with cdj-400 as midi controller and now I'm working on this DENON MC-6000.

Quick Tip Guys:
If u want to add more mappings to it make sure NOT TO TOUCH THE JOG WHEELS on MIDI learning mode.
This will make the jog wheels to stop working then u will have to start all over again.

I Tried to map the platters in order to work as a pitch bend controller like cdj-400 do.
To do this I went to the midi panel -> function "fine pitch" and I just touched the jog weel from the top side and scroll it a little in order to map it.
It works but the problem is that the fine pitch is only +/- 1 and the platter doesn't spin the track a lot. So I conclude that, even If they don't want to make mc-6000 native with serato, they could do the "fine pitch" value possible to change. So if we had the opportunity to change the value (+/- 1) to (+/- 5) the weel would spin much better and the platter would work as a pitch bend +/- controller, just like cdj-400 do in pitch bend mode.

I'm a new DN-MC6000 owner. This tools is incredible. I've played with it on VDJ pro and it's awesome. I've seen peoplpe on YouTube using it w/ Serato which I'm currently using with my Stabton t.120 turntable. I need a hook up for mapping this devices and get the platters working. djsolo@dj-solo.net

Guys tomorrow night I will put a video tutorial on how to map the denon mc-6000.
dj solo the platters work only in vinyl mode. No pitch bend mode.
To map the device just connect your hardware ssl3 push the button midi on te left top of your screen. After that in every function you put your cursor an indication will appear, just push the denon's button you want to map and that's it. When you finish just push the midi button to exit from the midi -application.
if you go to the set up screen you will find in the midi section the xml files to load.
Anyway tomorrow I'll be more specific beacause now I can't remember exactly the process because I don't have my hardware here in my house.

Great I'll try the midi mapping tonight and test the platter on vinyl mode. Looking forwrad for your video to be posted.

Scratch Live is be all means a light year ahead of them all in reliability and professionalism! Please Rane, do what we gotta do to have the DN-MC6000 work like it's predecessors, unparalleled control and response with "NATIVATION" for scratch live and video SL.

Mr Matt. This is not a problem for all us, beacause we already have the hardware. And we don't want to loose the sound quality that ssl3 give to us. the only thing is that Denon is maybe the best midi controller out now, and is a very good analog mixer in the same time. So many of us mobile dj's want to have a compact set and not to carry heavy cases with 2 cdj players and one mixer.
But as I said before if you don't wanna do native this player, you still can add some functions to the existing software like "jogweel control"
So by pressing swift+vinyl obtain vinyl mode, and swift+pitch obtain cdj mode. With this simple add the denon mc-6000 can be 100% fully mapped so you don't have to make it native.
Give a little attention to this controller. It worths!

Cool - just try and rally more support in the Feature Request thread and it will certainly help the cause!

This will work for both SL1 and SL3.
Most buttons have been mapped for audio but not so much for VSL.
I plan on doing another XML for VSL users but haven't had the chance.

I finally sold my mc-6000. I 'll keep my 2 cdj-400 as native players and my Vestax vmc-004 mixer that works perfect. To tell you the truth I am not really satisfied from denon's output quality, but the most important I want it native.I use the jogweels as pitch bend control so it has no sence use a midi like this, with pitch bend buttons. For sure I 'll buy the mc-6000 in the future if becames native player. Untile then...good luck to everyone and keep mapping....!!!

All I did was take someone's XML file from the Denon forum and mapped more Midi commands on it. I couldn't figure out how to map the platters without this original XML. I'm glad people are able to use this XML but what I really want is "Native Support" from Serato so all my lights can light up when pressed.

Is the MC6000 what I need for serato Video?...
Here's my problem...I need more than 2 inputs and more than 1 mic...so the TTM 57 is too small...and the battle style mixer is a non condusive size for mobile DJ's...
The Denon player is rack mountable...sturdy, but can you map the video, anyone have a map for it? I love the design and the vids Ive seen on youtube...
I know it can be done...but having to patch things together to make them work makes no sense.. Rane please .. help us loyal customer's here

You need to connect the RCA output of your SL1 or SL3 to the input of the MC6000. If you are using the SL3 make sure you don't have the "THRU" active on the SSL software.

Anyone manage to get the CUE button to work? I've played with it mapped to Set Temp Cue and Temp Cue, but can't get it to match a CDJ function of doing both.

Also, does anyone have XML that allows toggle/jogging with the platter without scratching ... for all of us who don't?

In order for this to happen Serato would have to give this controller "Native Support". The only thing I was able to accomplish was to get most lights to stay on but not toggle off/on when pressed in SSL.

I have attached the xml file for platter control and the led temp. Fix

Led lights: temporary fix
Go to traktor website and download the demo version (free)

Then with your controller plugged in go to set up on traktor and choose mc6000,
Then load up the songs on both decks and trigger all the buttons so they light up,
While traktor is running exit it!
Then the lights would stay on!!!

Now go to serato and use as normal...

Note: You will need to do this every time
you turn off the controller.

Thanx to you I was able to Map jog wheels, the rest was pretty easy...
when I first started I had SL1, I just upgraded to SL4,
The XML we all been using only makes decks 1 & 2 works,
when I "change deck" all the new mappings (cue's, play, loop, etc) work just fine but except jog wheels of decks 3 & 4, have u experience this situation?

Since this XML is based off the HC4500, only decks 1 and 2 will work. Serato would have to give the HC4500 4 deck support or the MC6000 Native Support.

I use an SL3 and that 3rd deck is used for Instant Doubles though I've never actually used it at a gig.

I might consider downgrading to SL3....

i have delays sometimes i have to do a double hit to get a cue point..... thast only when i hit it fast. but slow and straight on works ...... the reaction time is better on the HC-1000.

i am using SL1

My response was pretty accurate B4, I was able to beat box with the cue's.

I was using SL1 w/no latency or delays on the DN-MC6000.
When I upgraded to SL4 is when I start having this problem

No latency problems whatsoever using SL3 on MacBook Pro.
SSL slider is set to 2.
On a Windows 7 laptop the slider has to move to 5.

DJ UNIQUE - im finally giving in to using a controller and the 6000 will be it. im using a Mac, could you forward the xml mappings to me. Also, I have a question...if the big issue is platter control...its only a issue if someone is trying to use the 6000 without the SSL interface correct? Under Places you should see Desktop, "computer name", Applications, Documents
My computer name is actually true name.
When you click on this name you will see to the right various folders.
Find the folder named Music
Inside this folder find _Serato_
Inside this folder find MIDI
drop the XML in there.

If you don't have a folder named MIDI, create one.

This XML will work for both Windows & OSX.

The XML that Giorgio sent should be similar in that they both control the platters. I'm not sure on how the other buttons are mapped. As far as VSL is concerned, the cross fader does fade VSL, however only CF MODE button, PARAM 1 & 2 scroll / button are mapped for VSL. Everything else is mapped close to what the button is supposed to do.

Hey DJs, keep requesting for native support. Send other DJs here and have them put in their 2 cents worth. I bought my Denon DN-MC 6000 (and a SSL2 box) last week and used it on Friday and it works, jog wheels and all. But I really miss the button lights especially the Cue1 thru 5 lights which let me know which Cues are set, as well as the double tap on Play to set the temp Cue.

Im using a SL3 box on a mac and also a pc.

I can't believe what such seems to be a simple thing to do, is not supported.
It maybe down to a licensing as the mc6000 is packaged and meant for VDJ and traktor.???

I would rather have Serato see how much of a demand there is to have "Native Support" for the MC6000.

To all DJs using MC6000, need help here please.. I'm just a newbie here.. So please bear with me..

I have already loaded the xml file for my Denon MC6000 and all the keys including the platter, are working except the sound output.

Here's my initial set-up:
1. Both USBs of Denon MC600 and SL3 are connected to my Macbook Pro
2. Left Deck and Right Deck Outputs of SL3 are connected to the Line 1 and 2 Inputs of my Denon MC6000
3. Channel Selector (located on top of the Denon) of Channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 are set to MIDI (I'm not really sure of this setting)
4. USB Settings at the back of the Denon MC6000
- Set To MAC
- Mixing Mode: Set to INT Mix (Again, not sure of this)
- Output Source: Set to CH1/4 (not sure again)
5. For Master Out, I'm using the RCA (Unbalanced Output).
6. CF Mode is set to AUDIO.
7. Channels 1 and 2 of SL3 are set to ON.

On 3: Channel Selector (located on top of the Denon) of Channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 are set to Line (1 or 2) not Midi. See if that works

Can a program like midi pipe allow the use of the LEDs to function?

If the denon HC4500 is native supported, surely some of the code, could be used to drive the LED's on the MC6000?

Read below.

I've used this XML on a MacBookPro at a lot gigs without any problems.
Since Serato has not given "Native Support", the lights don't light up. What I do is start Traktor LE, load a track on each player and press every single button that lights up. At this point the tracks are playing but I exit out of Traktor without stopping play. The lights that were on will stay on even after starting SSL. They won't toggle off/on when pressed in SSL, but at least you have lights. It's a dumb workaround but at least it works.

Place this XML file in MyDocuments/Music/_Serato_/MIDI

Connect RCA outputs of your SL3 (or SL1) to your MC6000. Connect both units to your computer. Start Scratch Live. Go to SetUp, Midi then choose & load Fernando MC6000 and your good to go.

Most buttons have been mapped but not documented so you'll have to press & experiment to see what each one does.

Thanks for sending me the mapping file. I have been spending time working on it and have made a few changes to the one you originally gave me.

I noticed that your file was able to add cue points, but not delete them. I added this to it. It behaves pretty much as if you have the Denon HC1000s Midi controller. To add a cue point just press the cue button. To delete the cue point just hold shift+cue button.

I want to buy the denon mc 6000 for use in mobile gigs using video sl , lets face it carrying around 2xmk3 and an 800 to a small venue when you can bring a small midi controller it dont makes sence.
I was at the bpm show in the uk and put the question to the guy in charge of the serato stand "why isnt there the ability to make proper midi files for any controller for the use of scratch live ? or why cant itch support video ? one of these changes would keep a lot of your customers very happy !! he stood there and looked at me like i had ten heads. how hard is it to make a complete midi files to include led back lights for the denon mc 6000 they support it for the dc 1000 .
serato give the freedom of using any cd player with sl why not any midi controller its not as if we want to switch to traktor we are happy with the setup we just want to have the freedom to buy any midi controller we choose. not really a big ask or maybe they could release a controller similar to this ?serato is still by the far the best product on the market but a little slow to introduce products the day of the cd player is gone!!

Since it's not natively supported, the lights don't work. There is a workaround for them to light up though they won't toggle on/off when pressed. Please read email for instructions.

Do you know of a setting in the xml file that can be changed so that the platters work in "CD" mode instead of "Vinyl" or "Scratch" mode?

They're too sensitive; touch 'em and they overreact on the song.

i doubt you'll see a dedicated SERATO branded controller for SSL anytime soon, unless they abandon itch, which they SHOULD... but they won't.

I feel like I would look like a fool using the 6000 in front of thousands of people. Honestly the small platters make it look like a toy. I know its a solid unit though.

I have had zero problems using my ddj-s1. Itch has been rock solid for me. I use it for all my mobile events.

People also need to consider that native support also may fall in the hands of Denon. There is a definite licensing fee that is involved. Maybe they don't want to pay as it would make the cost go up considerably. Look at the cost of the ddj-s1 vs the ddj-t1.

I use this player for weddings and small family parties but would not use in a club. I still prefer to use TTs and a regular mixer.

i wouldnt mind trying the t1 or s1, but arnt they both only ITCH compatible?

I find the itch thing funny. we use it on 10 shows a weekend in front of hundereds of people with no issues so i dont think its going anywhere.

DDJ-S1 = Itch

im exaggerating about the itch thing, but i do see both mac and pc users complain about bugs.

i brought a pc i use @ clubs to guitar center to try the ns6 and ns7, after 5 minutes i had drop outs galore. no settings could eliminate it. i've used this same pc to run ssl & video sl without a hitch for 5 hours at the club and 6-7 hours for proms etc.

besides, why give up video and sampler features just to use an all in one unit like the 6 or 7, when the 6000 is so close. your only missing the "strip search" and a bigger platter.

denon can push ahead without serato and avoid the licensing fees pretty easily if they make a few solid improvements.

I don't believe the MC3000 can be used as a true stand alone mixer like the 6000. It looks that the volume sliders are only for USB, and the line 1 and 2 inputs on the back of the device correspond to a line 1 and 2 pan knob and a separate level control knob on the top right of the MC3000. I could be wrong, and if I am, I apologize for the bad info...

not the best idea, IMO...

I upgraded to SSL 2.3.3 and now my Denon DN MC6000 is not recognized.
How can i revert to the previous version of SSL? Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am using SSL1 with a MacBook Pro and I had the 6000 mapped with the XML from
Dj Unique and it was working perfectly until the upgrade.

Try restarting your computer and/or going into the setup again.

DJ E-Nice, I'm not sure how to help you. My Snow Leopard recognizes the MC6000 every time. Check the back of the MC6000 and make sure the little switch is on Mac and not PC.

I've used the xml file that you sent me last week but I'm still not able to play tracks using SSL with my SL1. SSL recognizes my MC6000 as well as the xml file but there's no playability with the device. Any thoughts? Would the recent 2.3.3 update that I uploaded have any effect with this? I'm also running leopard but will be upgrading to Lion shortly.

This should not have anything to do with 2.3.3 or Snow Leopard cause I use both without problems. Make sure you have loaded the XML within Serato setup screen. Also make sure you are in internal mode.

Please read the instructions carefully. If you follow them the MC6000 will work for you like it has for over 200 people I've sent this XML to. The only people it hasn't worked for, as far as I know, are the ones that don't own an SL3 or similar.

Thanks Unique... I read thru the thread just now, and have seen that a few members have experienced delays while using cues...

I am using an SL-1 Box & have experienced the same... Even when trying to map the video (side) faders to a volume fader on the MC-6000, the response I get is the Video SL (side) fader gets stuck in the middle moving up and down slightly (while still being in the middle). Kind of seems that the fader is buzzing on the software.

Very Weird... Any care to add to this? Im on a MBP, but I don't think its my pc but my unit... Set the mixing mode to internal... any other suggestions?

The higher the quality of the video output, then more latency we get...
I lower my quality to medium and It worked fine (I don't like the pixeling on the screen, specially if you are running 1080p or 1080i....
however, I'd like to know why is this happening?
Is VSL demanding to much to my computer?

Nvidia GeForce 9400M 256mb

2 Hitachi 750gb 7200rpm HDD's (internal).

Denon has the best controller on the market right now in the MC6000. Traktor Pro and VDJ both have support for this MIDI controller and it would be nice to have native ITCH support as well. Having the best software (ITCH) and the best MIDI controller (Denon) with four deck support would be phenomenal. Right now everyone has to choose a side with regards to what software works with which controller and settle. Please oh please add support for the Denon MC6000 and save the mobile DJ world. Be a Hero.

Ya i think they sometimes have strange issues with denon. They have hybrid mode for the 3700 for serato and advertise it and all yet serato doesnt support it. very strange stuff

I'm still having difficulties getting the xml file to work with my SL1 and MC6000. I created my own mapping and everything that I mapped works perfectly, however I don't have platter control and that's the primary reason why I bought the MC6000 in the first place. What am I doing wrong and why can't I get the xml file you sent me to work.

Could it possibly be due to still running OSX Leopard? Just picked up Snow Leopard and will be installing it tomorrow.

I'm using Snow Leopard and it works. If you follow the instructions exactly as written it has to work. This XML has been sent to over 200 DJs with various configurations but I'm not sure if anyone was using Leopard. After you install Snow Leopard, make you install the newest VSL and follow the instructions exactly as my email.

I think you will have use the SC 2000 midi mappings

I do not think this would be possible... How would you connect your SL1,2,3,4 box to the MC3000, it does not have seem to have line inputs that are mapped to the channel faders... It only looks like the line 1 and line 2 inputs on the back are sent to an AUX type knob on the far right of the MC3000.

I have never seen an MC3000 in person, and I am just making an observation from the images I have seen online. I could definitely be mistaken. I figured I would just throw this out their before any one spent money on this product and found it may not be compatible.

Not sure if the MC3000 would work using this same exact XML. Based on the similar design to the MC6000 there is a good chance that it might though.

As far as the SL box, you would connect the RCA outputs to the MC3000 inputs and use the MC3000 as the mixer. On top of the channel faders you can chose Line 1 - 2 or USB 1 - 2. All the buttons & scrolls can be easily mapped within SSL. The only question is the platters.

I take that back on the MC3000.
I just looked at the specs and I'm wrong.

The lines go straight to master so the channel & cross faders would not work.

Anyone who has the midi map for Mac OS - please email it to me - just got the MC6000 last night and hate the software that it supports. Want to keep using SL2. Thanks in advance.

André, I just checked / confirmed the email I sent and there was in fact an attachment named "Fernando MC6000", which is an XML file that's needed to make the MC6000 work in SSL. I sent it to both email addresses. If you don't see the file it could be that your anti-virus is extremely strict cause XML files can sometimes be viruses.

Dj Unique, been following this forum pretty closely and I just sent you a email regarding the xml file for scratch live using a sl1, and a mc6000. Its good to have a jump off point for the mapping. You would think with the popularity of BOTH scratch live and traktor ( also other software solutions) that this would be easier or more open. But I guess money talks huh.

Works fine for me. Running a pre unibody mbp on leopard. Ssl 2.0 or 1.9.2.

As far as I know, you are the 1st person that plans on using the MC6000 together with the 57SL.

As far as the sound routing is concerned, I guess everything would be set up as you would normally do on the 57SL. There aren't any individual line outputs on the 57SL for you to control audio levels on your MC6000. The MC6000 would then be used strictly as a midi only device.

I'm not sure what you mean by "waiting for HTML" but I'll send you the XML that I've sent to everyone else.

PS - If you are looking for portability you might want to think about using 1 midi mappable CD player with your 57SL or possibly an SL device with your MC6000.

I wonder if Serato now sees the demand for this deck and will add it for native support including lights.

I'm sure they see but making this native is probably a very low priority.
By the way, this discussion is over a year old.

Well as long as you don't use version 2.4 or above, you can use ME.
Not sure if we will ever have "native" support on this MC6000 though.

You have loop roll mapped and if so where?
Also, what is effect 4 button assigned to?

Rick effect 4 is auto loop and if you press the pitch lock button it becomes loop roll.

Wondering, knob 4 scrolls the loops length, but my 4 button does nothing to activate it like auto loop does on the 6k. (and nothing I can see activate when pushed)
Will try the pitch lock next time, its right next to the loop buttons, I may use 4 with ME.

The button right below the scroll activates on/off on auto loop. If you press that key button then it activates the loop roll. The scroll adjusts length. At least that's the way I mapped it.

I will investigate the XML I've been sending to see if something is awry. You can easily map the function within SSL though.

Were the Platters ever mapped on the MC6000 for Serato? Can they Be or is it still an issue. Wanting to purchase the mixer but was waiting to see if it was a possible platter map.

The latest map has both bend and jog mapped on the platters.
Works excellent, except the lights are out.
Not such a factor when used to locations of buttons.
