fyi 10.6.6 (it's not listed under the OS version)

I've used 2.2 since it came out for what i would guess is roughly 25 - 30 hours so far without any issues.

Saturday night I was playing stuff I normally play and all of a sudden everything froze. I couldn't quit SSL or do anything and had to do a hard restart (held the power button down until it turned off).

When I booted my computer back up SSL worked the rest of the night without any issues. Problem is, since the whole thing froze I don't know where I could get a crash log.

I have the activity console information for the last few activities before it froze...

Not sure if some sort of crash log or something would be located anywhere else. Hoping to figure out what caused the crash so I can get it fixed asap!

Hey DJ Prinvale,

Unfortunately as this was a freeze not a crash there won't be a crash dump. It looks from those activity reports though that the Serato Virtual Audio driver was having problems. Were you using The Bridge?

Are you able to recreate this freeze at all?

I would recommend re-installing the driver in case it is corrupt. To do this follow these steps:

1) Ensure Scratch Live and Ableton Live are closed.
2) Open Finder and go to the Macintosh HD -> Library -> Audio -> Plug-Ins -> HAL folder.
3) Delete the SeratoVirtualAudioPlugIn.plugin file.
4) Download the Scratch Live 2.2 installer from here -> www.serato.com
5) Run the Scratch Live 2.2 installer, it will re-install Scratch Live (and the SeratoVirtualAudioPlugIn.plugin file).

Let me know how you get on :)

yeah...I understand.

I was not using bridge. This was just a basic setup. Laptop, TTM57, two turntables and NOTHING else plugged in or turned on. I even disable wireless & bluetooth.

unfortunately no, this was a very random freeze and the 1st time it's done that w/ SSL.

Should I still re-install even though I don't use the bridge (or anything else for that matter?). I guess I will anyways because it's pretty easy/fast.

The only other thing I'm thinking is that it could be a memory issue. Random freeze like that make me think it's my ram.

Thanks

Unfortunately it is hard to pinpoint the cause of these a lot of the time if they are random. Do you get any other strange freezing in other programs?
DJ Prinvale` 4:16 PM - 1 February, 2011
yeah I understand.

So far no other freezes. I have a feeling it's a memory issue rather than serato. I can't seem to find a reliable ram tester program for OSX though so I'll just cross my fingers that it doesn't happen again.

fyi I'm still getting these consol errors...even when SSL isn't running.

I don't know if that means anything or not. This is a fresh OSX install with only basic programs and no SSL plugins (no bridge, VSL, etc, etc).

Can you please check and let me know if you can see the SeratoVirtualAudioPlugin.plugin here:

HD -> Library -> Audio -> Plug-Ins -> HAL -> SeratoVirtualAudioPlugin.plugin

If so, could you please delete this and then try re-installing Scratch Live 2.2?

It could be that this driver is corrupt.

Cheers,

Sam.

SSL isn't even running...

okay I restarted and was able to delete that plugin.

I re-installed 2.2, restarted again but I'm still getting those same errors in console.

I booted serato and i use one side on internal and the other side on relative mode and fro some reason the song plays backwards and i criss crossed the rcas and it plays forward but does not play at the right speed. Ps i have checked my needles on regular records and the speed is correct and the record plays fine.

I also had SSL 2.2.0 freeze on me the other night. Only on XP with a TTM57SL. I have about 20+ plus hours logged in 2.2. Then the other night about 3hrs into my set, it locked up. Had to restart but never had a problem the rest of the night. Not sure whats wrong yet... Kind of nervous for my gig tomorrow because I don't have time to fix it... Never had Serato do this in my hundreds of hours of use until 2.0.
Fingers crossed!

Hey DJ Prinvale,

This error will have nothing to do with your freeze. This is just an message that is displayed in console while Scratch Live is being run without using the Serato Virtual Driver. This is meant to be hidden in the code as it is actually meaningless, but there is a bug which is causing it to show up in console. It should be nothing to worry about though. If you delete the SeratoVirtualAudioPlugin.plugin it shouldn't show up. This is being fixed though for an upcoming release.

Have you had any other freezes lately?
DJ Prinvale` 8:25 PM - 21 February, 2011
no freezes since. Thanks Sam.

Crossing my fingers it doesn't happen again.
