Torn! DMS or DJCITY? Which pool should I use?!

fresher 5:48 PM - 12 January, 2011
So I've done my research on here, and I've decided to break it down to these two pools. I'll keep it simple: DMS or DJCITY? I used to run on mymp3pool but I want to try something different. So what's the verdict y'all? :]
Dj-M.Bezzle 5:56 PM - 12 January, 2011
Personally I like DMS better, its easier as you just click download and they have alot of stuff both new and classic. But with DMS you only get intro outro, on DJCITY you usually get accapellas and instrumentals plus deeper new stuff. But on DJity you have to leave feedback to download so it takes a bit longer to get stuff
Audio1 5:59 PM - 12 January, 2011
Most DJ's subscribe to both.

@dj-m.bezzle yeah i'm trying to get more classics! had my uncle taken care of his vinyl, i wouldn't have to get on a pool for throwbacks! =\ hmm

Split the costs with a friend. You will find that many DJ's split costs on record pools as a cost-saving measure.

Go with DMS dude, they have proven to be the best pool i think. They use top notch best producers for their services like Victor Menegaux. They have short edits, quick hitters, aca in's, aca out, aca in & out, throwbacks, and a great selection of electro. I say go with them because of their selection. They have everything a dj needs to rock any party.

I like it. it's pretty straight forward. the rating system could be better but im sure people like it that way since it takes two seconds. they have a download limit though so it might be hard to split the cost with a buddy unless one buddy downloads all the songs and then you share them. i think it's a one download limit. i could be wrong, i've never messed with it.
Audio1 6:55 PM - 12 January, 2011
BTC looks cool. I was supposed to get a free account because I mix on Now997 in SF, but it never went thru. Its cool tho. So many sources of music these days which I am happy with. I have access to DJ City, DMS, Late Night, DStar and MyMP3. If I cant find something on any of those sites, I just dig deeper on the net for it.

DMS and DJ CITY are a great combo. Most DJ's I personally know have both.
DJ Schematic 6:55 PM - 12 January, 2011
also, it's only hip hop and pop stuff on there. you'll still need DMS for all the alternative/electro stuff.

Right! But for the Price of the Pro membership, you could go to Dj City "and" idjpool and not have to worry about limited amount of downloads each month.
spirez 8:13 PM - 12 January, 2011
I'm on DJ City and it's decent. Would like to see dubstep have it's own category though and also be labelled as 140bpm instead of 70
Audio1 8:13 PM - 12 January, 2011
BPM shouldnt even be an issue. 70/140/same thing.

It only takes a sentence to leave the feedback. LOL It takes less than 1 min (depending on how fast your internet is) to leave feedback and download the song. To some I guess that too much time wasted.

I have djcity. Im constantly checking crooklynclan.net. Ive also been recording a bunch of my records on to my serato.

Im not saying its a HUGE deal but typically i only DL once a week, sometimes even once every two weeks so its usually a few hours of click the song, rate a 3, paste the comment, click download, back, back, next VS dms where i just log in go click 50 times and then walk away
Maskrider 9:38 PM - 12 January, 2011
DMS has good selection good edits they have a wide variety of Genres.

glad to see everyone else does the same thing i do, unless its a song that i have heard before or taken the time to listen to it... but DJ City could do a bit better job sorting out everything. normally i just set my save folder to hiphop then hit up all the hiphop, same with pop and electro... just makes it quicker

no problem, i use to dump it all into one folder, then spend time sorting it from there, after i did a thorough sort i figured this was the quickest way as i don't have time to listen to each song then throw it in a folder...

Whenever I'm on a plane that's when i take the time to throw stuff into sub folders, there's just so much music on there and if your not on it every day then its impossible to keep track of...

DJ NoNseNse 7:13 PM - 20 January, 2011
In my opinion i12inch is the best record pool for the older songs. It's pay as you go so you don't have to worry about canceling your membership. You get about 50 songs for $30 and 100 songs for $50. The search feature is better then any record pool I've seen. You can narrow things down by what year the song came out. You can't do that on dms. It comes in handy if you need a bunch of 80's music or even 70's music.
Audio1 7:23 PM - 20 January, 2011
Both.

Some have already mentioned two alternatives above but since you said classics - www.Latenightpool.com is supposed to start doing Old School Sundays again soon. Used to be every sunday you get a gang of throwbacks. I think they did Lil Wayne/Hotboys recently, lot more already up.

Also www.idjpool.com has a helluva classics section but it is not promoted because emphasis is on breaking new music. Also pool is FTP - no feedback to download - select tracks, drag, drop, walk away (or surf porn/read forum).

www.Latenightpool.com does video too, good choice if you are transitioning from Audio to Video and NEED both or just need to beef up video collection.

www.i12inch.com is also cool since you can buy per track like Crooklyn clan - good supplemental pool - they just started doing Video too,

Rebelguy 4:08 AM - 20 September, 2011
xtendamix.com is very good for videos as well. They have a ton of old school videos you won't find on any other site.

+1 on clubkillers.... No fillers and they have all untagged videos if u need a pool with vids too. A lot of the top video kats that where on strictly are on ck. Highly recommend cks
DJBEATSONLINE 4:25 AM - 21 September, 2011
It's $30 a month. You have to subscribed before they let you view their selection. Everything edm, hip hop, top 40, r&b, pop, Latin, even has wedding music. It says not launched because it's not fully done. Music is added everyday.
DJBEATSONLINE 4:26 AM - 21 September, 2011
There's alot of tracks and a huge edm section.
DJ Dac 3:34 PM - 21 September, 2011
DJBeatsonline, so would you say club killers is better then djcity?
DJBEATSONLINE 3:58 PM - 21 September, 2011
Lol. I think Dms is really good for everything but clubkillers is the new movement with all the new movement.

Give it a shot trust me unless you don't new edm music.

Djcity is cool. I personally think it has good music buy way too much music you dot need.
DJ Jonasty 4:16 PM - 21 September, 2011
I cancelled djcity. Gonna check out ck tho. Djcity just has too many remixes I don't need, hip hop I dont like and a comment system I hate. I love the dms download method. I've got a full time job and 2 kids. I have zero time to copy and paste comments. Djcity fell off imo.
DJBEATSONLINE 4:20 PM - 21 September, 2011
Same here bro, 2 kids and no time. DMS is great but give clubkillers a shot and tell me what you think
DJ Dac 4:20 PM - 21 September, 2011
i was going to cancel djcity but my next three months payment just went though, and i am sick of having 90 different remixes... and you say wedding music, are you talking about songs for the ceremonies and stuff like that? as a mobile wedding dj this would be huge!
DJBEATSONLINE 4:27 PM - 21 September, 2011
Thats why i dont have djcity because there is thousands of remixes. . Not too many but its all sorted and getting betterer, sucks you cant just browse the music selection. They have a wedding, country, reggae, rock, instrumentals, r&b, latin, 80's, acapellas, old school, dj tools, hip hop, electronic and top 40. Its broken down from each genre there after
DJ Dac 5:08 PM - 21 September, 2011
that seems way more useable then djcitys break down, i also have a family and I have gotten to the point where i just go down the hip hop section and download everything into the hip hop folder, i dont have time to listen and sort everything like i use to. same with the EDM, and pop, they all just get dumped in a folder and hope i find time at some point to listen to it all and sort it further.. im going to try to see if i can cancel my dj city account and get a refund back.

DJ Jonasty 4:33 PM - 26 September, 2011
I checked out CK and got approved and all that. Decided not to join, it seems like a good pool but I think I want to go in a different direction with my tune selection. Everything seems so "Epic" on there. Just intense top 40 to the max. I've got all the hip hop and old stuff they have on there. I'm sure it will work for a lot of DJ's but, I've gotten to the point where I get so much music from these pools and it's all so disposable. Now I've got to go and clean up thousands of songs I will never play from my library.

Good lookin out though

DMS = great tracks from the 50s on up (redrums etc)
Lot of great producers/remixers on there.
Only con is you don't get main/inst/acap etc.

Clean/dirty dj friendly (intro stuff)
DMS is my go to before a gig as I've always said.
It's saved me many times when someone says, "hey you got that new lil wayne song" look in my dms crate and it's there.

Djcity gives you all the main/inst/acap (if available) plus intros.
you have to filter more though and be selective cause a lot of stuff might be filler songs to some people.

They are two different pools, but you'll still end up with duplicates if you have both pools cause they both will put up the hot stuff
p.l.o.style 5:42 PM - 21 December, 2011

Joined DMS, Great selection of tracks, unfortunately 90% of their music are short edits !
Useless ! There is no section with the full length version, although they do provide a
search tab to the original track which is also useless because the tracks have all been removed
due to copyright laws ! Mp3 quality is 320 but again most tracks are all peaked out and distorted. I won't be renewing my subscription.

i still use www.mymp3pool.com - It's super easy to use & you don't have to leave feedback if you don't want to. It's only $20 a month and you get unlimited downloads. Latenight will give you all the main, acap, inst, yadda yadda you know.

Exclusives that only they have and they're all heaters, no filler.
