I'm worried about my laptop getting damaged during mobile dj parties or at clubs. Anyone know any good cases or protection for a laptop of some sort???

macs are actually more of my specialty. i would probably do a search for cases or accessories for your computer on yahoo and see what it comes up with. there's lots of vendors out there making cases for laptops...you chould have a good selection of choices.

cool but i'm talking about protection for the laptop when its being used for SSL. If its too crowded or something i dont want it to get damaged, or do you think that isn't necessary?

no that's what i mean. you can find cases that will house your laptop when you are transporting it between gigs....to prevent damage whn you're not using it.

there is a case for the 15" albook or tibook that allows you to use it whilst it's in the case. It's aluminium (or aluminum :-) ) and I'm sure I saw it on Drbott's website once. I can't find it anywhere now though.
try googling or searching the mac forums etc.

When I spin ata club, I make sure the promotor knows there must be a security guard present by the equipment all night long or else I refuse to work and I still will keep the 50% deposit.

Yup, that 400$ are what scares me, too... but I think, it's the only one of it's kind. Everything else is just bags, second skins etc. But a lot of money to come up with. I think I'd rather get an insurance for my g4 ;-)

I will probably getting this little gadget for my PB for when I play at gigs. It doesn't protect it like the TiCase but it does elevate it and gives it a nice tilt and its stylish! Check it out: xt-stand.com

you might be better off getting an iBreeze if you are just lookin for a stand. the i breeze actually has fans that provide cooling as well as giving the copmuter a nicetilted surface to rest on.

Has anyone ran the iBreeze with a PB and using SSL? I know the iBreeze has a pass thru port on it but I still would want to plug my SSL directly into my PB so there goes both ports on my PB and I also use a firewire drive as well. So I am asking on a stability standpoint will things be ok if I went with this? If not I might just get a stand... but once I start bringing less vinyl and using SSL more and more I am sure heat will become an issue!

Firstly - heat will NOT be an issue unless you are in a very poorly ventilated club or spinning at Cochella in the middle of the desert. :P
I use the iBreeze and it works wonderfully. No heat at all when its on - it has a pass thru USB port so you lose nothing. Basically it will preserve the life of your CPU.
I have a MAC G4 17", powerbook 1.33ghz processor, and 1.25gigs of Ram.

yeah, the ticase is VERY nice, but it's not what I was thinking of. This case actually allowed you to just flip open the top of the briefcase and use the Mac whilst inside. like a panasonic tough book or something
I had another look today but can't bloody find anything. Try posting on forums.macnn.com?
ps, I've just upgraded to 10.3.5. Just gonna go see if SSL still works! :-)

the rack mount is nice but I think that would more suit a permanant installation instead of mobile one.
