Fair play to y'all house dj's I do play quite a bit of house but only when requested, when Im playing a mixture as its really not my thing.

(But my humble opinion is theres no such thing as shit music just peoples opinions differ - much like movies)

so dont think im bashing on you guys
dj skraps 3:52 PM - 27 April, 2007
Just wondering what would go in Just plain Gay?
Nicky Blunt 3:55 PM - 27 April, 2007
pop remixes & things i really dont like that go into that genre that gets asked for fairly regularly, therefore i need to have.

As I mentioned Im not really into dance so thats prolly the biggest folder of all the dance related sub crates.

A prime example would be that "the bump" or put ya hands up 4 detroit. as imho they are as the crate says just plain gay!
Nicky Blunt 3:57 PM - 27 April, 2007
but like i said before that is just my opinion & im positive you would say the same about most of the stuff I play!

so no h8uuurs please!
dj skraps 3:58 PM - 27 April, 2007
Thats funny...i like that ;)
Nicky Blunt 4:03 PM - 27 April, 2007
like i said im not being a h8r its just for my amusement.

but glad you like

In the same way so you edm djs dont get upset all of the game songs are listed as gay-me so like i said dont take it personal

I set up main crates by BPM(in increments of 10,ex. 110-120) and then have sub-crates sorted by genres. I also have another set of crates sorted by BPM where the crate name is like 130. Inside the crate has tracks ranging from 125 to 135 BPM. If you open this crate and sort by BPM it puts songs with the crate name BPM in the middle of the crate. This makes it easy to change tempo up and down.

I am also working on doing the same kind of system but with key instead of BPM. I think this will help finding hamonically matched tracks. Its very time consuming though. Anyone know any super quick ways of keying tracks?
Nicky Blunt 8:45 AM - 2 May, 2007
no! anyone know a way for me to find out what key a track is in?
The E Head 9:38 AM - 2 May, 2007
^^^mixed in key
Dj Nyce 4:28 AM - 17 May, 2007
for the clubs i use:

spark *lower tempo club songs; mainly r&b
flame *medium tempo clubs songs; mix of everthing
blaze *power hour (1am-2am) shit; these are the club bangers

for everything else i use genres and specials

_DigiWaxx
Rap & Hip-Hop
R&B
Dance Hall
Reggae
Pop
Soul

etc...
DJDLO 415 6:13 AM - 17 May, 2007
who here agrees that doin this is a BITCH!!!

i jus realized the other day that organizing will NEVER stop.......i love puttin together tight ass creates tho.....
sixxx 6:14 AM - 17 May, 2007
I agree. It's a bitch. But, you learn a lot by organizing stuff. I'm so glad I use iTunes Smart Playlists or I would be going more insane! lol
DJDLO 415 6:31 AM - 17 May, 2007
yo whats the advantage in using the itunes play list thing??? i dont get it....my homie dose it too

Automatic updates. Not having to drag and drag and drag files to different folders. Basically you tag your file once and it goes to different crates or Smart Playlists without you having to do a thing but just tagging the song right. It could be a code in the name, the genre, the comments, anything.

There are so many more advantages but those are the critical ones.
DJDLO 415 7:47 AM - 17 May, 2007
im hella dumb.....im gonna have to read that over a couple times.....looks like im gonna start doin it......
Dj Nyce 11:45 AM - 17 May, 2007
smart playlist are the shit, for instance for my _DigiWaxx playlist i have comment contains digiwaxx.

so when i download from digiwaxx and bag & tag, i set the comment field to digiwaxx. now my _DigiWaxx playlist contains the new tracks without me having to add it.

this is a huge organizational advantage; that's why the top dj software has itunes support!

itunes also supports folders so you can keep the ssl crate area uncluttered.

ps i use underscores (_), letters and numbers to keep special playlists at the top.
