Hi,

First post for me. Great to be part of the community. I've converted over from another product and wish I had ages ago. I used the search and didn't come up with anything that addressed my issue directly so I am hoping I could get some help.

I primarily use a MBP for SSL along with a Nanokontrol for MIDI control and it's been great. The problem is my Mac needs to have a screen repair done and I need to use my PC until it gets back. The PC is definitely suitable as I ran SSL on it prior to getting the MBP.

My question is, can I copy the MIDI mapping for my Nanokontrol out of my MBP and put it somewhere on my PC so I do not have to remap all the functions? If so, where are the files located and where do I need to put them on my PC? I'll probably need to install a driver for the Nanokontrol but that is not an issue. My mapping controls the EFX, SP6, library, and cue points so it's something I depend on now and remapping would be a major PIA.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Not sure if it makes a difference but I am using an SL3 with SSL version 2.1

Hi DJMJChicago.

Great to have you on board!

Yes, you can do this.
The MIDI map file in the Music > _Serato_ > MIDI folders (of both computers)> So you can just find the file - this will be your map name, with an .xml suffix on the end of it. Just copy this across, and then you can go into the MIDI tab of Scratch Live on your PC and load this preset.

Let me know how you get on.
Cheers!

Thanks Matt! Now that's service!

I'll give it a go after work and report back.

Much appreciated.

Giving this a bit more thought....on the MBP I would look on the internal drive in my MUSIC folder yes? My music/crates has always been on an external.

On my PC, where are Serato files are located on my internal drive ? Since I never used the nanokontrol on the PC I probably won't have a MIDI folder already there is this correct?

It may make more sense if I had the computer in front of me now but I am at work. Thanks again.

I gave that a try. Went to the MBP and copied the .xml file over to my PC but there was no MIDI folder on the PC. I was looking in the _ScratchLive_ folder since there was no _Serato_ folder I could find.

I had never hooked the nanokontrol up to the PC so I figured this folder maybe only generated if MIDI was used. I created a MIDI folder manually and loaded the .xml file in but no go.

I spent a few hours tinkering with it before realizing the nanokontrol was not even being recognized by the Korg Editor software. Drivers were installed to the latest version from the Korg site. It just isn't seen by the system so Serato wasn't recognizing it either when I'd try to map a control.

Frustrating to say the least but not a SSL issue to the best of my knowledge. Will have to work this weekend without the nanokontrol for now. Damn PCs.

First the official discontinuation of the 1200s and now my nanokontrol doesn't work! Halloween cursed weekend.

Oh dear - certainly a bad Halloween vibe indeed!

You could always navigate to your computer's: Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers
See if the nanoKONTROL is showing up there, or if there is a broken icon there. If it is you could trying right clicking and selecting 'uninstall'. And then try reinstalling it again after.

Let me know how you get on.
