Numark HDX to control Serato Scratch LIVE

Is anybody using this combo yet, I can't believe the torque, response, and the scratch modes (Scratch + Cue, Scratch + Fw, Scratch + Fw & Cue), I was lucky enough to pick one of these bad boys up off of e-bay for only $729.00 (U.S. Dollars). If I can score another one, it's history for my Technics 1200s (at least for gigs).
BTW - I AM talking about the HDX (hard drive model) not undependable CDXs.
Anybody else working with this combo, please let me know.

Not me, but I've heard they're actually 10x better than the CDXs from multiple users, so if any of you are hesitant to try them out because of that, don't. They've (HDX's) received rave reviews!

Phaze, I got a questions for you.
Are you using the control disc or did you rip the signal and put that on the hard drive so you won't have to use the disc? If you've tried both ways, which one has the better response?

That's a lot to pay for something you are only going to use to control Serato. Will you even use the hard drive you paid for?

So is a pair of M5G's. At least you get a hard drive, a keyboard and the ability to play CD's if you want and extra features. What is Technics giving you extra besides the name and a reciept that says $550 plus dollars on it? Then you have to add the cost of carts, so that puts that right up there with the cost of the HDX's. I mean that's all we're using regular TT's to do is control SSL right? Just something to think about.

Technics give me a sense of reliability and security. Numark does not. You can't put a price on that.

Okay, here we go with the Technic reliability and security comments again. We already know about Technics track record, but thanks for bringing it to the light one more time. haha

I was once a CDX user too, so believe me, when I tell you that I know about Numarks unreliability (especially with the CDXs) I've swapped out at least 4 of them in the 3 years I used them. But when they did run properly, they were the bomb.
But the HDX is a totally different build (different cooling system, DVD drive, Hard disk, USB and More).
First off, If I wasn't able to get the HDXs refubished for such a deal ($729.00), I would have never switched, but all I can say is try it for yourself. The torque alone is worth the extra bucks, plus I can switch over to the hard drive on the HDX in the event that my serato or laptop fails.
As for Matt212

I like the hard disk because once the buffer is read, you can navigate all over the song flawlessly without having to wait for the buffer to catch up (like on a CD).
BTW - The CD drive in the HDX is actually a DVD drive which reads DVD data discs too!
Over all I am happy about my investment and as soon as I can cop another one for around the same price I'm on it.

Whatever you guys are comfortable with. I'm just playing the dollars and sense angle. $729, which is a steal for HDX's, is still $729 more dollars than I would ever feel comfortable giving to Numark!

Just so you guys know, the other illegalalien owns 2 HDX's and they're not as reliable as you'd think. They have problems reading certain CD-R's plus sometimes they just freak out and you have to shut them off and restart them.

Aww...Numark Quality Control (or lack of it) rears it's ugly head again! Hello old friend!

I guess time will tell. I'm not dissin' the Technics 1200s, I've had the same pair for almost 15 years and never had any issues, but once you scratch on an HDX it's hard to deny it.
Numark screwed us with the CDXs but I'm willing to take a chance on the HDX. Plus I'm really only using it for a control signal for serato. It's the scratch modes and the torque that sold me. Plus they look wicked!!!!
