when i try to preview scratching in headphones only using toggle switch..audio in headphones doesn't cut on and off when trying trying to preview transform effect in headphones only without playing in main speakers..the only way i can get audio to cut on and off in headphones is pressing master cue button but the means it will play in main speakers...is their a setting that will let you preview ( turn audio on and off in headphones only ) using toggle switch without having to play in main speakers...thanks

Hello muzikfactory,

As SMF said, this isn't an option on the 57 or any other mixer that I'm aware of.

What do u mean no mixer has that option....the numark PRO SM-3 and pioneer djm-600 has a phono/line toggle switch that will let you preview/practice a scratch/transform effect in headphones only. Without playing it on main speakers...im sure other mixers have that option. When u try to preview a scratch using ttm57 toggle switch the sound in the headphones does not cut on/off. The only way the ttm57 toggle switch cuts sound on/off is when doing scratching/transform effect on main speakers.

you've answered your own question then about your own mixer

Not trying to be a smartass but do your research before saying no mixer has that option..i was hoping there was a setting on the ttm57 that would allow you to cut toggle switch sound on/off in headphones only without playing on main speakers...i guess there isn't ...that sux..thanks for your time

Oh sorry muzikfactory... you are right about the other mixers.
The toggle switch on the 57 is not connected to the input signal and is applied post fader.
The phono/line switch on a typical mixer enables you to choose what input your listening to and is pre fader (before the signal hits the fader).
This is the same on pretty much every mixer although not the 57:(

Unless you can turn those knobs really fast...hah

hello Zach S

do you think the toggle issue i mentioned above can be made possible through a scratchlive update in the future or is that out of the question..has any other djs brought up this issue in the past?

I've never been asked that question before.
I'm going to guess this is a limitation of the hardware itself but I will verify that and let you know.

Or better yet....when using the ttm 57..how do djs preview their scratching without playing scratch sound on main speakers..what controls or settings on the 57 will let you cut sound on/off in headphones only (besides the gain knob)...or do all djs do their scratching live and hope for the best..It would be nice to be able to preview practice your scratch before playing it live at an event..specially if its a new scratch you're working on and haven't perfected it....I think I tried everything and could not cut sound on/off in headphones. It will only cut on/off when i play sound on main speakers. there is $100 mixers out there with phone/line toggle that will let you preview practice your scratch in headphones only without playing it on main speakers.. Can't believe rane over looked that on the ttm 57

meant to type mixers out there with phono/line toggle...

anyways i guess its not that big of an issue if no one else has brought this subject up..

Thanks for your time Zach S

I would say the majority of scratch djs wouldn't practice their scratches prior to bringing it in the mix so I don't believe this is something we overlooked.
Yes, you can do this on a $100 mixer via the phono/line switch but that switch wasn't created to do transform scratches. You just happen to be able to transform scratch with them.

That explains the scratch practice sessions at some of these clubs at club goers expense.. lol

Well it would be a nice feature to have for those dj's who don't have all that extra time to spend hours in their room practicing new scratches.... They could kill 2 birds with one stone. They could dj at a gig and in between songs or if they get bored they can practice their scratches in headphones only without putting the customer through hell...So at the end of the day the headphone cue is only good for cueing songs and mixing.. Oh well

Over all the ttm57 rocks!!!!!!!

Thanks again Zach S
