Lupe Fiasco - Kick Push

Monk-A 6:46 PM - 31 December, 2006
Anyone else feeling this guys stuff?

Especially like Kick Push, and I gotta say it's grown on me like nobody elses stuff for a while and he's got a real nice flow and a nice delivery switches it nicely.

Damn Monk... Where you been man? That song is like 7 months old ;-)...

I agree with you though. Actually his entire album is nice. Lupe is one of the most talented MC's out there right now. He's the best newcomer we've had in a loooong time. Also he doesn't curse in any of his rhymes which is kinda cool to me for some reason. I appreciate that he's made it cool to be smart again - like it was during the early 90's in hip-hop.

yeah it's nice, real nice, to not have to censor you files lol!!

I knew who he was, and that he'd been around just hadn't really paid any attention to his stuff then i just dug the "Kick Push" track out the other day to drop in a mix tape i'm working on, and it all just clicked...

So now I been listening to it a load over the last few days and the whole albums just stuck in my head now.

Yeah... I'm kinda nerdy and sh*t and so is he, so I'll him say little things that NO other rapper would even mention... Like making reference to the Anime character Lupin III on "Touch The Sky"... I remember hearing that and being like, dudes have no clue who he's talking about.
Monk-A 7:11 PM - 31 December, 2006
Phat you play in shoredicth?

I used to play in Shroedicth a loads. i used to run "they do play records dont they?" at the Embassy bar in essex road and used to play at the ruby lounges aroudn london, catch 22, Herbal etc...

Hey Monk. Scene is still cool. Lots of little nights running, plenty of bars with half decent sound systems. Heard good things about The Embassy Bar, never actually been. I play just down the road in a bar called the Winchester (used to be called Bar & Dining room before it was refurbished). Playing there tonight for NYE actually. Decent up for it crowd in that area.
Dj Ryme 10:44 PM - 31 December, 2006
yeah atlantic sent me a cd single of kick push wayyy over a year ago..... it was just marked with a marker not even a label and I was like who the fuck is this..... this track is fire. About a month after that one of the guys from atlantic was at one of the concerts I was spinning at and I asked him who the hell lupe fiasco was and the guy from the label didnt even know him......
Monk-A 10:47 PM - 31 December, 2006
cool, i know the Winchester from when it was "Bar & Dining", quite nice. Who owns it now?

Always a nice eclectic up for ti crowd in islington & Shoredicth, some annoying people yeah but it's more fun then annoyance when you're DJ'ing, they would be more annoying as a punter i reckon.

The Embassy Bar was excellent, till it changed hands. The guy who owned it then when we used to play there was Dan, who now owns the Keston Lodge on upper street and the Lock Tavern in Camden. We had the first night there and it really took off, sundays just playing whatever we felt like was really nice.
