Can pioneer CDJ-400 be used on 3rd deck SSL2.0

DJJR 5:03 AM - 25 May, 2010
I am using denon dn-hc4500 controller on first 2 decks and wanted to know if a pioneer CDJ-400 could be used on 3rd deck in native mode? I read somewhere the CDJ-400 has a right and left selection for midi select,
Can it be midi mapped to third?

well I picked the cdj-400 and from demo in the store a screen came up to select deck1 thru 4, they had the rane 68 connected also. Have a wedding tomorrow and will hook it up this weekend and follow with an update

pioneer cdj-400 when pc mode was selected asked to select a deck 1, 2,or 3
3 was selected and works perfectly, denon controls deck 1 & deck 2,
awesome machine!!!

DJJR, i'm guessing i'll need to upgrade to an SL3 box to do this?. Also, are you on a macbook? I only have 2 usb sockets and they're used by the 4500 and SL1 box, would putting the 4500 and a pio 400 on a usb hub?

Anyone else, i was also thinking of a usb hub so i can hook up my launchpad aswell, would it make any difference to how my denon 4500 will work?

Avoid hubs, if you have to get one, make SURE its a powered one

yeah, make sure its a power one. I've used a cdj400, hard drive and a NanoPad on a USB hub.
KYLE SMILE 3:44 AM - 29 May, 2010
Powered as in a proper power cable? What difference would it make?

I am using an hp probook 4710s, win xp sp3, (machine has never been online) I have 4 usb ports, 500 gig hd,
wireless disabled and windows stripped down to bare minimum, no anti virus, no internet, SL3, wireless mouse, 4500 and pio cdj400 all connected directly in.
you loose the piocdj effects (wah, flange etc) but you have direct control to serato and no timecode disk,

Kyle , I have a powered hub that i don't use and i will try the 4500 and cdj together and test it out, I will post results by tomorrow night,
(powered as it comes with an a/c power supply that connects into the hub,)

Super, let me know.
DJJR 12:52 AM - 30 May, 2010
Well I connected the powered hub up and connected the 4500, deck 1 & 2 worked ok,
connected and turned on the pioneer cdj-400 and when i selected pc mode it would only show deck 1, the machine wouldn't work thru the hub, when i disconnected it and plugged directly into the pc then it saw all 3 decks. This was my results with windows pc, maybe it would be different on a mac or maybe a different hub. the power hub i bought was around $20. I did see a mac mini that had 6 usb ports at the store that was running serato.
