Instructions:
download this file: www.filedump.net
1. load a mp3 file to a deck
2. place the corresponding album art in a folder, there may be other files in that folder, but no other images. i let itunes organize my stuff, so i just put the cover file in the folder where the album is stored.
3. COPY the quartz composition to the location where the corresponding album cover resides. in my case, i put it in the folder with all the mp3s of that album.
4. do not rename it. it wont work if you rename it.
5. add the quartz file to serato
6. edit the artist tag of the quartz file so it matches the record it is copied for.
7. load the quartz composition as video for one of the mp3s it corresponds to.
7.1 you might have to eject and reload that track on that deck, i don't know why...
8. enjoy spinning record effect
9. say "thank you" if you like it ;-)
Unfortunately, i can only read out the path of the quartz composition, if i could read the path of the playing mp3 file instead, this would be even better and universal for all tracks that have album art in their folder. copying the quartz file would not be necessary anymore.
This is due to the fact that the parameter "kSSV_SeratoDataPath" points to the location of the quartz file instead of the location of the mp3, that is why you need one copy of this composition per album.

by the way, it only works with hardware connected since it uses the needle position.
for some reason i did not get it to work with the song position
so ... sorry for those of you rocking in internal mode.
its pretty sad, seems the whole quartz support still has its bugs

final version.
works in internal mode now with the "song position", too. it was my fault - there was a blank at the end of the input parameter.. how could i have doubted serato!!!
plus i added the dot in the middle aaaaaand
a moving tonearm.
enjoy

it would be cool to have a "2 x 1 grid fade".
fode out from one deck, show both side by side, fade into the other.
should be very easy to implement, since 2 by 2 allready exists. is this possible?
or can i change that myself in some plist file?

i've been looking at the contents of the video sl plug in, there are some ".faders" files, but way to few. does anyone know where to look?

please, anyone from serato...
can you tell me if it is possible to read the path of the playing mp3 instead of the playing quartz file?? this would be useful for a lot of compositions

You can't. These were mostly security reasons IIRC. A dodgy QC could delete or alter your audio files.

PNG is an image format, which allows transparency. this is only necessry for the knkghtrider composition, all others you can just use a JPG
just make sure you use only black and white, everything you want to be seen should be white

oops this was referring to the LogoMojo.
For the Spinning record, every image format with every color should be fine

sorry totally forgot.
www.filedump.net
this works with Video SL and Serato Video as it used to but also works with ME now.
(put a folder next to it and name that folder exactly as you name the file)
example for Serato Video (SL):
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl1.qtz < QTZ file1
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl1 < Folder1
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl2.qtz < QTZ file2
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl2 < Folder2
Since ME does not have that information, it uses a default folder next to the composition:
example for Mix Emergency:
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl1.qtz < QTZ file1
/path/to/my/files/IMG < Folder1
/path/to/my/files/myRenamedVinyl2.qtz < QTZ file2
/path/to/my/files/IMG < Folder2 (its the same default folder as you can see)
inside of the respective folder, the first image that is found will be used.

just test with ME 2.0 and it works great. quick question does it only load 1 image (i.e. the first image) or is it supposed to load random images from the IMG folder?
btw, aliases work for the images too.

Thanks radikarl for the update. Instead of having a folder where the images are located can the .qtz file pull the artwork from the mp3 itself if its available?

So is M.E. 2.0 officially released then? I don't see it on the site.

it loads the first image in that folder. so you can control what it does.
is a random image wanted? that is totally doable.
Thanks radikarl for the update. Instead of having a folder where the images are located can the .qtz file pull the artwork from the mp3 itself if its available?
no, as this is unfortunately not provided as information from Serato Video or ME

I took a different approach, this will only work for mac and an itunes managed library.
First, create a "folder.jpg" image for every album in your library using this Doug's Apple Script:
dougscripts.com
In itunes, go to albums view and select all, run the script, this might take a quite while for larger libraries, time for a cup of tea.
Once that's done, rename all the folder.jpg files to use their parent folder's name with this applescript i wrote:
dl.dropboxusercontent.com
It'll will prompt for a directory, use your "itunes music" directory. This also takes a few minutes to run.
Once done, use finder to search for all .jpg in your itunes music folder, select all results, and move/copy into a new directory of your choosing.
Now all your album artwork is in one directory, named after the album name. It's simple to make an album artwork loader, here's 2 for me and sv, (haven't tested the sv one though....)
dl.dropboxusercontent.com
dl.dropboxusercontent.com
To save typing the directory each time, edit the qtz files and set your directory in the input parameters and save.

Should be easy to adapt any other qc file, just had a look at radikarl's, very nice. Just change the image importer path input to use the album name inputs available through sv or me.
