Itch key detection?

look for freeware...

such as Mix Meister for BPM's///

I think if they put the mixed in key technology into Itch Serato will have to pay them bigtime. I think this is not happening.
I1Kirm 2:21 PM - 6 February, 2010
Is it really necessary? All you have to do is drag n drop your files in to MIK and press Update Tags in ITCH.
DJ GaFFle 3:01 PM - 6 February, 2010
It doesn't matter because you can't even see the key of the song you're playing in iTch.
I1Kirm 5:27 PM - 6 February, 2010
I think its safe to say that key detection is not in Serato's plan so go ahead and buy MIK, it will pay it's money back really soon.
Furthermore, MIK can write inside the key tag that is visible inside ITCH library. What DJ GaFFle says is that key is not visible on each deck. A workaround I use is to add the key to the end of the track title. That makes the key visible 98% of the time (the other 2% is tracks with long titles)

You can write the key in the mp3 tag. I chose Overwrite Comments.

Then you can show the comments in Itch and sort songs by key.

Why not just write the key to the key tag, show the key and sort by key?

at the time this started there was no 'key' column in itch

... and still no way to see the the key value of the song on the playing deck.

I've actually had the experience of ITCH telling me what the key was for a song I played one day. Only song it ever worked with. It appeared in the box next to the BPM

Yes KittyFace, but this post is 2 years old and this feature was introduced in Itch 1.7.

How do you make ITCH detect your mp3s keys?
Dave The One 5:25 PM - 12 January, 2012
Algoriddims djay 4 a 20.00 program not only has this but it allows you to change the key of any song to match the one that you're playing. I'm loving Itch but damn this 20.00 program has so many great features...

Itch donĀ“t detect the key but can show the info. I usually copy the content from the comments field to the key field.
Deckgeneral 8:29 PM - 1 February, 2012
if you want to sjhow it in the decks, MIK will copy the data to the start of the track name too, gets around it dropping off long file names :)
