Yesterday I bought a Sony - VAIO Laptop with Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 720QM processor Features 6MB L3 cache and 2.8GHz.($1350) I was checking youtube out and seen this Numark ns7 and I got to have it. Everybody is talking about the Macbook pro. For the money I would have to get 13 inch 2.53GHZ 250 hd plus $200. Which is way less than what I get with Sony. Now they are talking about a new MBP. Can I be a serious DJ with this laptop or not. Need yall help.

You have a powerhouse, future-proofed for two years.
This said, judging a machine solely on tech specs could be misleading, especially when it comes to pro audio.

Being a serious DJ has (almost) nothing to do with the laptop you carry. Having said that, showing up to a gig with an underpowered or prone to crashes laptop doesn't make you a serious DJ either.
Now, your laptop seems more than capable to handle ITCH in its full glory. You should just follow the guide posted in this forums and elsewhere on how to optimize a windows system for DJ performance.
Another very important thing to remember and practice is to never use your performance laptop for anything else than... DJ related stuff. It is OK to edit your songs on this laptop but is not a good idea to install dozens of applications. Just keep your work environment clean and everything should be OK.
Finally, there is a slight possibility that you'll have latency problems because of badly written drivers or background applications. If this happens just open a help ticket at the Serato forums and the support stuff will do anything to have you up and going ASAP.

Should I take it back and get the MBP why I still can? Maybe wait till the new MBP comes out?

Rumors are the next Macs will be a major upgrade, but nobody knows exactly when they'll be announced, so better stick to your VAIO, which is a good machine, than get a MBP that may be outdated in a few months.

Just try your VAIO it with ITCH to see if it's flawless as it should.

i've seen some djs kick some serious ass with SSL installed on a netbook hackintosh (thats a lowly 1.6ghz intel atom processor)
the laptop doesnt make someone a "pro dj"
its what you do with it that matters
some djs dont even use laptops at all... until very recently armin van buuren burns one track per cd and brings them on udg cd wallets (dunno bout now, maybe hes using the new cdj2000)

Ya your right about the laptop not making the dj a pro. It's love for music and alot of practice. What I meant was I just don't want the Sony to crash at a party when a Mac won't.

hmmm if u are going to use anything u need to understand it and learn it. unless u used a computer "specially designed by a manufacturer" for a specific purpose. All machines fail. There are many points in considering your computer purchase.. read o,n do research and find out why some prefer Win base or Mac OS base and pick your road ahead. good luck. heres a link where u can start, BUT for the sake read and read more =D

Hey Madsticks.
The main issue laptops have with pro audio is data throughput and DPC latency. It's very hard to judge if a computer is going to excel in those areas, which is why people recommend Macs - they are phenomenal for audio work.
They also leverage greater raw power from their parts with clever drivers and efficient OS design than PCs, so you certainly shouldn't be comparing CPU speeds directly with PCs. But PCs are also good if you get the right one.
We always suggest trying before buying, but this machine looks nice, so unless Sony have made a major glitch with parts or drivers, it should work a treat. I would certainly be happy with one :D

Actually a good laptop is one that doesnt crash, you can avoid any crash during your dj night just by deacctivating all back ground programs , allow only your sound card to work and dissable the logitech drivers installed on your laptop .That means making your machine dedicated to serato only and no ther programs. I use an old compaq machine to spin in the club . here are the specs of my machine
processor of T1400 intel genuine clocked at 1700 ; dual core.
and 3 gigs of ram .
I run windows 7 and i have an hard disk of about 120 gig .
What tels that i am using a seriosu outdated laptop ,since 6 months now , and it WORKS ! very fine !!!! but its dedicated to serato thats the only thing .
So keep your VAIO , its a good laptop .The difference that people like mac for music is because of the system stability , not for the specs .
