This is my attempt to gather the DJ census and figure out whats hot were. Im a DJ in a military town which means I have poeple from all over the country. So my night can sound completely different every single week it depends on my crowd but these are the songs working for me right now.

My Saturday night crowd is more mixed. I think I enjoy playing for a mixed crowd better than an all urban crowd.

The mainstream/Top40 chicks:
1. dance more
2. drink more
3. are more excepting of other genres
4. act the craziest on the dance floor

My soul aches after playing a bunch of Trap/Snap and sub-80 bpm music.

I hear you Art -

Most of those tracks have 95.5 artists in them and people recognize the voice, so they work. I tend to throw newer tracks at the crowd towards the beginning of the night and see how/if there is a reaction. Typically if I think a track has potential I play it for friends/family, and if they don't like it after 20 seconds then its out. If they do like it I give it a few weeks out to see how it goes.

I'm gonna check out the "next hot hood ish in the D" you listed.

I'm about 15 minutes out of the D in the burbs ...

I'm gonna be at Chen Chow in Birmingham the 13th, Hamilton Room in Birmingham on the 19th, Dirty Martini in Novi on the 26th and Grand Tavern in Farmington Hills sprinkled in between these.
