well...I thought I did it right.
well, I did it half right.

I had 110gb of music on my INTERNAL harddrive.
I had 450gb of Video on my passport EXTERNAL harddrive.

plan was, to consolidate the two onto 1 external TB drive.

the music, using konnix's video worked just fine.... cue points, tags ect.

the video on the other hand. no.

I believe its becuase I had a _ScratchLive_ & a ScratchLive folder.
both of which I had to consolidate into the one _ScratchLive_ folder
on the NEW external HD.

Everything on the ORIGINAL video drive is still in tact.
I connect it, all my overviews, tags, cues are all there.

when I open the files on the NEW video files there is nothing.
no cue points, no overviews, tags are all in original format.

Now, I dont know much about the Database file, and the other files.
but I took the contents of the ORIGINAL VIDEO_Scratchlive_ folder
And put it all in the corresponding NEW _Scratchlive_ folder.

any way to get this stuff back without having to rebuild all my overviews
and go through everything again.

I tried goin into files and dropping the NEW video folder into rescan.
no dice.

In past versions that info was stored in the metedata folder. You would need to move that and then press "Relosate Lost Files". That should do it BUT we are making it easier on people. In 1.9.2 if you analyze the video track or change any of the fields it now writes that to the video file.

So I'd suggest building the overviews again on your videos in 1.9.2. Once you have all your cues and loops should be written to the video instead of the metadata folder.

Then transfer you videos.

yeah... I even moved the metadata folders over so they were in same place as the original external.

does it have anything thing to do with the database folder?

I have all the folders identical in the two drives.

I drop the video folder from the new drive into the rescan tags...

ooooh.... resolate lost files.... let me try that.

also, every time I open the parent video crate.
the columns are HUUUUUUGE...It never saves the default sizes

Do you have "custom crate columns" checked? (set-up / library)
Joshua Carl 12:17 AM - 23 January, 2010
hehehehe... come on man!

of course

Also, everytime I restart SSL.
not only are the comlumn sizes huge.

but the ones I select/deselest go back to default.

So, Im re-annylizing all my videos...
so, at least going forward that will be covered.

but Ive been on 1.9.2 for sometime now... alot of these files that have no overviews
and no cue points, and the tag has changed WERE changed in 1.2
stuff I just got last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there has to be something with the attempted merger of 2 ScratchLive folders killing me.

are you using a beta?
Joshua Carl 6:01 PM - 25 January, 2010
not for this.... when I went to do all this I did a complete re-install of 1.9.2

I think what Im running is merging an existing internal ScratchLive folder
and a _Scratchlive_ folder onto a 3rd external wont work.

if I add just the video files and the info from 1 drive its fine.
(IE external to external)

and if I do music to the external its fine
(IE Internal to external)

but if I move them BOTH to the same external....issues.

When moving both to one drive, did you consolidate Scratch Live folders?

Do you still have at least 10 - 15% free space on that HD when you have both of the groups there?
Joshua Carl 6:36 PM - 25 January, 2010
oh, yeah... like 400 gb free.

i tried to consolidate the folders.
and thats when i lost all my tags
(tried the rescan method)

so i deleted everything.
and just did the external to external method and renamed the folders
from the internal drive(now on the external) to XXScratchLive so it wouldnt read them.

if I delete all the folders on my actual harddive will it recreate them, or had an adverse effect.... I keep having to reprogram my midi controller.

If you delete the folders, the program will make a new one.

On an internal HD it should be "ScratchLIVE"

On an external HD it should be "_ScratchLIVE_"

It needs to be marked proper depending on its location in order for the program to read it.

When you delete one of those folders, the "midi" folder inside which has those mappings gets erased. Which would explain the need to remap.

Just a quick aside on one of your comments -

When you say "parent video crate", if you mean the top crate of a set of subcrates you've set up for your videos (as opposed to the "All Videos" crate), you may be able to fix this by dropping one or more tracks (from a subcrate ideally) directly into the parent crate. This forces a crate file to get written to disk, which doesn't currently happen for empty parent crates, and then your column settings get saved into the crate file.
