I think hey should be more angry at NI. They feel that Serato is copying Traktor, funny thing is over at Torq forums they say they same thing.
Hmm maybe they are just mad cuz' Rane/Serato actually have product developers and listen to the end users.

One thing that I never thought of, but they brought it up on that post, was the integration of Maschine into Traktor Scratch Pro. Now, that would be sick and it would go almost, but not quite, as to head to head with The Bridge.
But, if NI was to integrate some of their other plugins into TSP, wow! I have no idea what to even say.

They did copy features, but that is a good thing because scratch live was falling behind with stuff that was already in other dvs's. Now, SSL is on par, plus surpassed these other systems with the new Ableton collaboration.

Or listen to the end users? Which was it?
Yea Torq and Traktor had advanced features, for a few years but I really don't think that Rane/Serato were sitting on their laurels. I think the delay was working on stability and GUI design. Seems like the others rush to get it to market then try to fix issues after it's been in the wild. Then they scramble and frustrate the end user by fixing a work in progress. IMHO

I was talking to people from Serato at the Get Down and one person mentioned the late timing. You hit the nail right on the head. Didnt want to rush into it and have it fail due to poor quality.

^precisely. the whole 'serato copied traktor' nonsense is just that; nonsense, fx were inevitible and is a natural progression, as are more decks, smart crates etc.. these features were always going to be present in V2 if Traktor existed or not since they are the logical step up.
Difference is here is that Serato spent 5/6 years getting the basics right first, whereas Traktor never thought that was necessary and look at the bloated mess it is now.

I definitely would not consider V2.0 of SSL just a catch up update to other DVS's out there.
the simple reason being, the serato developers obviously don't bother putting anything out until the are confident it is going to work. Unlike a lot of other DVS software that lets the user discover bugs when their laptop packs up for the night mid-set.

I just started reading the thread linked after already responding....
"I'm p*ssed. Not because they copied lots of Traktor features but because of the bridge! Ableton live sets inside Serato! It looks AWESOME.
Another nice feature they added which lots of Traktor users have been asking for a long time is the ability to change the deck view around. Smart playlists too...
Don't get me wrong I love Traktor but Serato really do listen to their users."
Pissed off because serato have basically taken the perfect software to a whole new level? yeh, i'd be pissed too.
I love the way they refer to Serato as 'catching up" with traktor....traktor may have more features but really, we all chose scratch live for a reason even though we knew traktor could do more feature-wise(and crash more)
Love the way second page the mods have deleted some comments obviously saying NI support is useless too.

I find it great for development, so that NI gets some competition, motivation. Serato is/was 2-3 years behind NI, the Ableton hook up is their chance not to loose the rest of market they were consistently loosing.
When I looked for, tested DJ softwares, there were at least 3-4 other that I would take over Serato. Unless you are ancient turntable DJ with lack of interest, abilities, desire or will to do something new, different and work the same old way , minus carrying the crates - Serato has little appeal.

I've seen it.
But that's the whole joke about this thing, these cats are sitting around with no ammo so they gotta pick on a name? Of all the things to try and take shots at, since they couldn't take shots at the quality they pick on something so irrelevant such as a name. Shows me the mindset between the two different users. But if picking on a name was important, just the fact that the name Serato is creative vs. Traktor which is just....
Shows the kind of mindset behind the two different teams.
It's great that half the time we don't even know (or care) that they exist, yet they're having little imaginary pissing matches with themselves over the most irrelavent shit when it comes to the "other" product.

one-eyed fanboys on both sides.
you can't deny there are other DVS systems that have desirable features previously unavailable on serato.
many of you/us can't yet comment on the stability of 2.0 yet, so why so vehement?
I appreciate serato waiting til shit is stable, but to rubbish another company for having a feature prior to serato is pretty lawl.

A lot of people in my town use Traktor over SL, and they always brag about the features and all the shit it has. To that I always ask them how many of those features are actually stable enough to use and relevant to your mixing,

I like that thread, I've spun at a few clubs that have a 57 already installed and that is heaven. Plug in a USB cable and you are DONE!
One of the current spot is thinking of getting a Audio 8 box for the club because a lot of the Detroit Techno and Tech House guys use Traktor.
A 4 channel Traktor Mixer would be a BEAST, the ability to control all 4 decks and effects with Hardware, interesting... It may turn those button pushers into "real DJ's again. Hmmm, sounds like a 68,
WHOA - wouldn't it be a total mind fuck if Rane made the 68 compatible with the Traktor Software like Native Instruments made Traktor Scratch see the SL1 as a sound card.
That would be helluva payback.
