USB connection to DDJ-SRT1000 stopped connecting with Windows 11 Laptop

I been using this setup for a while without an issue.
SRT1000 + windows 11 Latest drivers and updates + Serato DJ Pro 4.0.2.

All of a sudden In the last 3 days or so I would say Windows update may have changed and updated the way I connect the SRT1000 to my laptop.

When I plug in via USB the orange bar comes up and tries to connect saying wait up to a minute. It does nothing

- Tried 3 different USB Cables, different USB ports, Reinstalled the SRT1000 drivers multiple times, Reinstalled serato DJ pro many versions - No success

Formatted my Aorus 16X Laptop wiped out clean windows 11 install and still happens.
Updated SRT1000 drivers and reinstalled multiple times. Ran through serato optimization guide.

-Tried with an older windows 11 laptop (No Windows updates pre 2023) It connects fine.

If I also connect my Pioneer s9 and Rane SL3, they also connect.

It could be the SRT1000 windows driver needs updating to be recognized with ?

Any help appreciated, This has just started to happen in the last week.

You may need to roll back your windows update detailes here: www.solveyourtech.com

you may have to turn off windows update cause you are running an old SRT1000 driver and firmware,

so any new windows update requires you to have a new SRT1000 firmware driver,

hence why if you are using that laptop you need to turn windows update off.

also its best to stay on windows 10, there is so much issues with windows 11, you can read these issues through google search.

windows 10 the user has more control

windows 11 microsoft controls what you can and cant do,

this is why people are staying with 10 and not updating to 11

in the meantime open up a help request and let Serato know here: support.serato.com

Thank You,

Unfortunately I clean installed windows 11 pro from scratch, I'm unable to locate or find that particular Update now.

But If anyone has the specific KB number, please let me know so I can report and try find in the registry to remove.

Thanks

It is a massive fault within Windows 11 24h2 & 25h2 code that has been progressively being turned on more and more devices.
Basically its a change on how Windows handles Midi & USB Audio based devices and how they communicate back and forth.
There is apparently a hotfix Microsoft have put out but I had no luck.

BEST THING TO DO (And to be honest the only real solution to actually fix the problem aside from buying newer hardware)
Downgrade Windows to either W11 23h2 or W11 24H2 but it has to be a software version before November 2025 or all the way back to Windows 10.

windows 10 is the best option Windows 11 microsoft have locked things down and not allowing the user to have more control of the operating system

Please people do not listen to this idiotic advice.

Real fix for us

Downgrade Windows to W11 23H2 OR find a build of 24h2 before September 2025 that does not have the new Midi 2.0 Stack code

Yes, Watto is right, the Advice in Devblogs.microsoft does not work.

Microsoft's MIDI 2.0 update has been released and is being rolled out gradually (it is also included in older versions of Windows). All of my Windows computers have this update, but it isn't enabled on all of them. You can check this using the Midichecker tool (microsoft.github.io). When it is enabled you can disable MIDI 2.0 using the following tool: ViVeTool v0.3.4 on Github ( github.com )

To disable MIDI 2.0:
1. unzip ViVeTool v0.3.4 in a new directory
2. run CMD as Administrator
3. in CMD go to the ViVeTool directory
4. type in CMD: "vivetool /disable /id:58988972" without quotes an press Return
5. Then you need to reboot the system.

Et voilĂ : while is Serato running, Serato recognizes the controller if you are switching it on. The Controller can be turned on and off at all the time without crashes or freezes Serato. OK, its a quickfix too, but it Works more "stable" until all vendors support MIDI 2.0 and Microsoft fixes the issue.

And as always: no guarantees. This quick fix worked on all my Windows computers and with all the controllers I have (and I have quite a few); hopefully it will work on other systems as well incl the SRT1000

Note1: NVIDIA driver version 595.79 from March 12, 2026 is causing major issues. In my Case: RANE drivers crash or freeze. Distortions, sound cuts out, etc... Installing older drivers work (e.g., v. 591.74).
Note2: Rolling back Windows to an older version is definitely not recommended. If rolling back is the only option, do not connect the system to the internet, as all Windows vulnerabilities will be actively exploited.

Looks like the Kb5086672 march 2026 update has solved my issue with connecting and exiting.

The only think is its mucked is the waveform on the Ddj srt 1000 looks laggy on the controllers hardware but on the windows laptop its perfect.
