Hey guys, I've been spinning for about 15 years and went on a break for about 7 years now. I currently have 2 Technics 1200mk2's & rane 62. Because i got a new mac it wont allow me to use the rane 62 with the new OS. I wanted to see what mixer are industry standards atm. I'm guessing, Rane&Pioneer. Also I if any one has any input on Phase please let me know. One of my Technics tone arm is busted so I've been using Internal mode. btw the new mac i picked up is Macbook Pro 14" with Sequia Mac OS. I Appreciate any input in advance!, Thanks!

Macbook Pro with 14" is dope! I got the 2021 Model.
No need to repair the tonearm. Get Phase DJ from mwm. Digital needle and THE best invention since serato scratch live in 2004!!!! ✌️
And you'll need a mixer that's capable to run on M1 or M2 Chips.
Rane Seventy or Pioneer S9, S11 or S7 will be good to go.
I would consider getting the Rane Seventy or the Pioneer S11 but when you're on a tight budget try to get a used S9..
Will work also

Thanks for the input! I bought the 2023 with M3 chip. It's been awhile since I spun so i wasn't too familiar with phase (was still using M-447's). I've always had rane mixers 56-62 but I've thinking about switching to Pioneer. I'm also afraid if I get the older models (Rane72,S9) they might have some issues with OS update like it did with 62. Also do dj's stil use record pools or are there new ways of doing things?

I was in the same boat, always used an SL3 but not an option when I finally replaced my 2012 MBP.
Serato capable mixer wise, you've got a few options.

The Rane Seventy is probably your "direct upgrade" from a 62.
I just bought a reloop elite to replace my Rane empath+SL3 and love it, I don't get paid to DJ anymore though or I would've spent more and got a 72 (because I have always liked Rane...but they're also not the same company they were at the time of the 62- they've been bought out by Inmusic)
That buyout is essentially the reason your 62 doesn't work anymore, after the buyout they haven't bothered to create new drivers to suit the new operating systems....
All the current mixers are class compliant, so theoretically this shouldn't be an issue anymore because they don't need bespoke drivers to work with any update.
Record pools are definitely still a thing, you can use streaming services within Serato but I think most still think it's best to have actual files stored on your drive, with streaming as a backup for obscure requests etc.

I really appreciate all the input! I was out of the loop with the whole dj scene and had no idea. Since there was a buy out for Rane do you think theres going to be an issue further down the line, even with 72 (similar problems like not working with older OS?). I prefer rane since I've been using it since rane61 along with SL1 box, but I'm leaning towards selling my 62 and buy a used S9 to test it out. Thanks again!

I've been using Phase from day 1 (first with Traktor and lately with Serato). I can really recommend it. It works perfectly with my Technics SL1210 and Pioneer DJM-S9 setup.

I was planning on selling my Rane62 along with my black oddsey case online and buy a S9 or maybe the s11. When it comes to s9 and s11 whats the major difference? I know the s11 has wave forms on the mixer itself but that's not so necessary for me. Also may I ask how long does the phase last for with full charge? Will it be usual for long term gigs that exceeds overs say 5-6 hours? and any issues with blue tooth connection with phase I should know about? Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help!

The S11 is lightyears away from the S9. Much better sound quality. I'm not speaking about the waveforms.
Would take too long to put all the differences up here. I assume there are a few videos on youtube about it.
Phase battery lasts up to 10 hours.
It depends on different factors. Scratching and so on.
No problems with Bluetooth so far.
