please make this look professional. My Problem with Serato
I've had Serato since its inception i literally bought it as soon as a radio station dj told me it was going to be the new gold standard for djing
like every other Dj out here i want to be the best to use it & not look back, Over time i think I've come along way from first getting to know the program.
As a Dj i have multiple systems
2 controllers
1 rane 72
so here is my problem i meticulously organize my crate try to make everything go into its specific folders as to not get lost & try to be careful when adding new music so i know where its at. in my head i cant use it at all if i don’t know where to get it when i need it. In other words (its fucking useless if i can’t find it in the 4 minutes it takes to change songs)
with this being said over the years I've had to reorganize my music so many times to be a able to best know where its at when i need it keeping more than (3 back ups at a time so nothing gets lost. last but not least i one day i received a large sum of music and as usual i took the time to meticulously add it to my folders in order to know where i put it for later use.
here in lies my problem…. when i open up my crates they are all sitting there like normal but the problem is have a big gig lined up & so I’m trying to consolidate some folders (example)
1, sound effects
2, drops
3,samples
4,dj tools
5,slot a
6,slot b
7,slot c
i want to put these all in 1 folder
so i created a master folder and moved all the folders as sub crate no problem
(yes) lock crates is unchecked.
Then when i close Serato & reopen it. they are out of the folder like i never moved them (not gone or lost just not where i moved them too)
whether i check save backup upon exiting or not. this is so frustrating, i spend more time on file management than i do getting to mix moving files ive already moved to the proper place every time.
now in full honesty.
i generally tend to dj on my MAC Book but every now and then i plug my hard rive into my PC but less than more i go from Mac to pc i generally for sake of not mixing file formats i recently stopped going back and forth.
but heres my problem. what is the purpose of having the back up upon exiting feature? if you literally can’t back up upon exiting to be sure when you reconnect nothing has moved.
in the beginning i thought bugs were being worked out and they would figure it out over time. we now have stems and still cant figure out how to keep my folders in an organized fashion…Why won’t the folders stay where i moved them simple & plain? in 2024 their is no acceptable reason in my head.
on another note I’m a DJ not a techie. i don’t know the difference of fat 32 files & fat watever other file format protocols the techies talk about so i don’t want to take a course on file formats just to organize my folders. fustarded user.
what is the reason they cant create 3 folder where your music is stored
crates
backup
& recording & their direct location
on Both apple & mac?
i literally love Serato this single issue breaks my heart. who can help with this?
i just want these file organization issues to go away forever they literally make me an inferior dj as i cant trust the song I've loaded isn’t where its supposed to be without this problem my crates are incredible if every single song I've loaded if findable
i literally dont want to hear oh you have the stuff stored in two locations. because i didn't set it that way & why is this even a thing? i just want the lifetime fix. i dont need to reknow my own problem, i also hear well known djs say their having file issues when will serato fix file organization once and for all? ....i dont need the latest & greatest update. i need fool proof file organation (life time) if anyone can help its appreciated
